Mr. Boze, I guess you dont know how real defense player do it in this situation or any other. A defender wouldnt just accompanying him, he closes immediately the distance to him and blocks / attack his body and the puck . The quicker the defender manages to get to the striker, the more he shows him and succeeds, you can't get past here with your body or with the puck. This is always the battle between attackers and defenders at any one-on-one or two-on-two and so on.

In hockey, you always have to read and react to multiple situations at once. This move is effective because it forces the defenseman to react, creating time and space for the offensive player. While it would be ideal for defensemen to close the gap and hold the blue line every time, that’s an unrealistic expectation-especially when facing a move like this.

Perhaps you’d like to put a little effort into making your videos audible? If you’re not going to buy a wireless mic to put on the speaker, could you at least ask other people on the rink to stop playing for a minute?

Rarely will you see a pro purposefully handcuff himself in a game. Hockey is all about maximizing options, handcuffing yourself takes them away.

@@RMHShockey Disagree by observing the best in the show. McDavid does it all the time, both practices and games. And, the ridiculous notion that it handcuffs yourself is asinine. Observe McDavid any time he brings up the puck on a rush and notice the hand placements. They are exactly in the same position, next to his belly button, as you demonstrate in this vid. Is he handcuffing himself the whole time bringing the puck up on a rush?
