    I miss seeing LenDale bulldoze defenders. I miss this style of USC football. We haven't had a running back who could move the chains since Bradford.

    • @PockyCandy
      @PockyCandy  8 лет назад +5

      He perfectly complimented Bush in every way possible. Bush was great, but he wasn't moving the pile on 3 and short or on the goal line.
      And who is Bradford?

    • @JustBombsProductions
      @JustBombsProductions 8 лет назад +8

      Allen Bradford. He was a big back who was moved to linebacker in the NFL. He surprisingly had a productive senior season in 2010. He came to USC when they were getting almost every 5-Star RB. Nobody thought he'd ever play. I'll always remember his final game at USC. It was against UCLA at the Rose Bowl. USC was only up 14-7 and then Bradford broke a 40+ yard TD and then followed that up with a 70+ yard TD to ice the game. I was in attendance and it was amazing!

    • @PockyCandy
      @PockyCandy  8 лет назад

      JustBombsProductions That's a really interesting story. I just looked him up on football-reference, and he certainly had to wait his turn, like you said.
      And why doesn't USC get any powerful backs anymore? I've watched your videos, and both Jones and Davis (and everyone else on the depth chart) seem to be slighly built scat-backs who look like they can be knocked over by a stiff wind.

    • @JustBombsProductions
      @JustBombsProductions 8 лет назад +1

      PockyCandy Because the game is turning into a passing league. Plus, all USC has been doing is looking for the next Reggie Bush. That's like Oklahoma trying to find another Adrian Peterson. Bush's speed, quickness, agility and vision will be hard to come by again. Plus, he was 6'0 and 200 lbs. Finding someone that fast at his size might be even harder. With that being said, 5-Star RB Stephen Carr has been committed to USC for over a year now. Not saying that he's the next Bush, but he'll be competing for snaps as a true freshman. I don't think it's really USC's fault. The top big backs always choose Alabama even though they know they'll have to sit behind another 5-Star.

    • @PockyCandy
      @PockyCandy  8 лет назад +1

      JustBombsProductions Good point. Personally, I think that it's foolish for USC to try to find the next Bush, much like it is foolish for Oklahoma to try to find the next Peterson (Mixon does sorta remind me of him though....). Those guys were generational talents that won't/can't be replicated for a very long time.
      And yeah, as a Mississippi State fan, it's annoying to see Alabama roll out monster tailback after monster tailback year in and year out. They never run out! Is it too much to ask for my team to get ONE of them?
      And before I fall asleep (I'm on the east coast), since you're a USC fan, I want to ask you why you think that every non-Carson Palmer QB flames out in the NFL. Leinart, Booty (does he count?), Sanchez, Barkley (the presumed #1 pick at one time), and probably Kessler have all severely underwhelmed.

  • @agonzalez8924

    LenDale white would've been the perfect rb if he would've had that elite breakaway speed. He was a solid ball carrier who's greatness was over shadowed by two Heisman trophy winners that played in the same backfield. There were many games where LenDale carried this team on his shoulders and got those tough yards that reggie bush couldn't. Also much credit to those big men in the trenches. USC had a serious stable with prize stallions at all positions in these days.

    Fun times back then man. Lendale was like a BIG Emmitt Smith at USC. Just moving the chains, needed multiple tacklers to get him down, wore out opposing defenses. Patient, yet very aggressive runner. Outstanding field vision. Lots of endurance and durability, and ALWAYS had the ability to break one loose for a big run. White, Bush, Polamalu, and Cushing were my favorites on those greatest years.

    When you watch the difference between Bettis and Lendale White, it is eye-opening. Lendale White is the most overrated USC RB of all-time. Hall of Famer at 23 in Jerome Bettis and a guy that was lazy and ate himself outta the league directly behind him. The film doesn't lie. Just take a minute and compare them. Bettis had speed, power, agility, and could catch the ball. Lendale had one of the best teams of all-time and looked good, but start plugging in names to put in that position with Bush among others. It is laughable. For example, put someone like Cedric Benson or hell even Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams in there and you would see how easy White had it in college. Keep up the good work though, I love the theme of these videos. It is all a matter of opinion anyway, but yea, these are fun to watch.

    • @BGW4SC
      @BGW4SC 8 лет назад +18

      While it is true that Lendale White was a bust in the NFL, he was hardly overrated in college. White shared every game he played in with two eventual Heisman Trophy winners yet still scored more touchdowns than any player in USC history. More touchdowns than any player at the school that has produced the most Heisman Trophy winners and the most NFL draft picks.
      And it's not like Bettis was a one man team at Notre Dame. If White benefitted from Leinart and Bush wouldn't Bettis playing with Ricky Watters, Rick Mirer, Reggie Brooks and Rocket Ismail have made it easier for him too? Cadillac Williams had Ronnie Brown and Jason Campbell. What about the Dallas Cowboy teammates of Emmitt Smith? Does his career rush record have less merit because there were too many pro bowlers on the Dallas roster?
      Make all of the excuses you want to tear down Lendale White. The guy consistently delivered in the biggest games he played in and he was a nightmare for every team he played against.

White was more effective than Bush in that game and he brought physicality to a team that was otherwise being pushed around. His nfl career was shitty but he was a monster in college
