I'd buy that wrapping paper! It's a super cute pattern! You've inspired me to get my iPad out during my lunch break! Thank you for that! I also struggle as an artist that works full time, no windowed office, and a night owl.. I just struggle to even use my evening.. I miss being able to do all of my art so much.
I originally did all my illustrations in procreate, but have recently moved to procreate just for sketching and I finish my designs in photoshop. My suggestion for procreate would be to copy the paper texture layer and clip it to each finished piece individually then export. It is a bit more work but it would keep the paper texture you like. Also! Silicone nib covers are a LIFESAVER, they are a couple bucks and will protect your nib for a long time. I have had my ipad for nearly 4 years and have never had to replace my actual nib, only the covers. I personally use a paperlike cover for my ipad screen and a silicone nib cover. It takes a bit to get used to since the pen wont glide as easy but it is really best for both your pen nib and the tablet long term! Good luck!
I was trying to clip it later by layer but it messed up the original paper texture! 🙈 I think that would work really well if the paper texture was a flat layer (and I tried flattening it but it didn’t work…), but since it’s a kind of dynamic layer group, I’m not really sure how to handle it. I had no idea silicone nib covers were a thing!! I’m so excited to try that out! I also use a (knockoff) paper like cover for my iPad, which I’m sure contributed to the rapid sanding of my original nib, so a silicone cover sounds like a perfect solution!
@@AndeeSaraDesigns Yes, I was suggesting copying the texture layer so there is one texture layer per finished piece. Unfortunately it seems it did not work for Pepo, but it might just be the brushes they were using! I hope it works for you c:
Love all the ice creams! Stickers, planner stickers, post-it notes, wrapping paper, shaped greeting cards... I've noticed a bunch of local shops here in southern NH that make excellent ice cream but are using basic clip art graphics in their advertisements and signs napkins and shirts... I'm sure they would be open to looking into upgrading their logos and gift options. I see tons of tourists coming through the area and it's easy to buy an ice cream and a sticker to remember. You could take a small roadtrip and buy a scoop and leave a business card. Small businesses love other local small businesses. Good luck. Same goes for donut shops and tiny chocolatiers!
I really love that idea! And I totally know what you're talking about. I actually recently reached out to one of my local ice cream shops... I definitely think you're onto something about small businesses looking out for other local small businesses! Thank you for your kind words and support (as always!) 🫶

I love your drawing and your videos. Keep it up. I have a question, what is the name of the brush you use? Thank you for sharing the drawing steps. We really want more of that.
Aw, what cute patterns! It was fun coming along on your week! I think I probably would have copied the watercolor paper texture and clipped it to each cone. But whatever you ended up doing looks great too! :)
That’s what I was trying to do, but I think it wasn’t working because the texture is a full layer group, not just a flat layer. I tried flattening it, but it messed up the way the paper texture looked 🙈. Ah, well. I’ll figure it out!!

I’m basically just experimenting with different techniques to see what I like. I’ve arranged a few patterns in procreate, and now I’m seeing what it’s like to split my workflows between procreate and photoshop. I’ve heard that arranging the pattern in photoshop may allow you to preserve quality a bit better, but it’s still something I’m playing with.

Yessss!! It brings me so much joy! I’m not sure where you’re located, but it’s not very well known here in the U.S. and I think so many people are missing out!
Hi! I don’t know if you’ve figured this out yet but for the paper texture your best bet is to duplicate your paint layer (icecream), alpha lock it, then fill that whole layer with the colour of your background. Then turn off the alpha lock and duplicate that layer and merge it down into one layer. Repeat this until you have your paper texture layer, the painted icecream layer and a fully opaque layer of your background colour in the shape of the icecream. (Turning off your procreate background layer will help you see whether the layer is fully opaque) Then you need to select the layer contents of that fully opaque layer and copy and paste the selection from the paper texture layer - giving you a cut out section of the paper texture in the shape of your icecream. Then simply merge all the layers together and you should have a fully paper textured little icecream 🍦 I hope this all makes sense, it’s hard to explain in words so I’d be happy to clarify anything if you have any questions! 🙂
Omg! This is brilliant!! Thank you so much for sharing this!!! I think you explained it very well, and I totally have a good idea of what you’re describing. I’m going to give this a try and I will let you know if I run into issues. Thank you for taking the time to explain this so thoroughly!
