Are you kidding me!?! This is such a tedious process for something that should be built in. Sad that Procreate is ignoring all those that want to design patterns. Good on you for showing how to do it; many other have done the same, but you have done it best here. Many thanks.
Thank you for watching. jpg is generally fine. Some clients will ask for a layered file. In my experience, this can either be raster (e.g. Photoshop) or vector (e.g. Illustrator.
This video has been the best I've watched for adding the different elements and colors in a way I can follow along. I'm a novice Procreate user. You exported this as a jpg. Do you have to vectorize it before sending it off to print? Thanks!
Mel, would you say the sketch should be in a circle to make it easier? Does it accommodate the diamond layout better? And also, what size should the sketch be?
Hi. I'm new to procreate and I'm wondering if there's an easier way to diagonally arrange elements on my canvass? I mean I can do it to each element (image) but is there a guide that I can follow and just snap the elements in their places? Thanks!
When I try to put the first copy of the layer in the corner, I get a small thin line after lining it up perfectly. What does that mean? I doodled in the corners so it would work properly, but it's like my image doesn't fit to canvas completely perfectly anyways.
Hi Mel thanks for sharing this awesome tutorial ✨ From the easy to follow explanation to the cute editing and music. As you are working raster with Procreate is 3000x3000 the best size you use for most of your pattern/surface projects? Or you recommend working in even bigger dimmensions? Thanks
Thank you for your lovely comment. My go-to default is 3000x3000. However if I know what I'm designing for I'll change it depending on what it is. Wallpaper, I tend to go much bigger. This video isn't my typical process, just an alternative. I mostly create the motifs in Procreate, then the patterns in Photoshop. You can see my whole process in this video: ruclips.net/video/yDZitOgh47I/видео.htmlsi=d8gRWULdxQl0h-2X
I will be trying this . I don’t understand the “multiply “ when you first clicked on the drawing..what does that do? (Very new, trying to understand why and when to use certain functions)
Multiple is a blending mode and it allows you to see through the sketch so you can paint/draw underneath. I must to a Blending Mode tutorial, as they are very useful.

Hopefully Procreate will over time become easier for pattern design.

Hi! This is a great video-
Is a jpeg what most places will require? Do we need to be able to provide a vector file for licensing?
Thank you for watching. jpg is generally fine. Some clients will ask for a layered file. In my experience, this can either be raster (e.g. Photoshop) or vector (e.g. Illustrator.

So glad it was helpful! No I don't vectorise unless it's for specific client who is requesting vector. Most of my clients are happy with raster.

This video is truly informative..
I loved it; but I think it got a little bit marked...I can see the diamond format. Any clue to not get like that?
Hi thanks for this can you please make a tutorial on how to modify color for pattern 😢
I will put it on my list! 😀
