Thanks Mel for a great tutorial, I really appreciate you sharing, it's finally got me started in Procreate and bonus I've got a floral pattern at long last 🙌🏻✨
Ahhhh they don't teach you beyond the very basic repeats in fashion school! It's only in the last few days I have heard about these pattern templates and now I have just seen, for the first time, how to tap on the dot and add increments instead of dragging!!!! I just uploaded my first Ogee Pattern to my Insta and tagged you. Thank you so much. This was such an easy to follow tutorial!
I love that now i can create repeat patterns on my iPad, i struggled to follow some of what you where doing as you went a little to fast but I’m sure i will get it with a few rewinds or the vlog you said to watch at the end. Thanks Jason
Thank you, Mel! I am new to procreate and find your tutorials to be very helpful and I love the creations you make. If I ever would want to, where could I print a pattern I make onto fabric, or pillow? Thank you. I also appreciate your peaceful presentations. 🌸🪴
Thank you for watching and I'm really glad they have been helpful. Spoonflower is probably the best place to get your designs printed. They have fabric, wallpaper and a range of home decor items. www.spoonflower.com/
This looks awesome and I can’t wait to try it. Your tutorials are terrific. If people are interested in designing fabric, wallpaper, etc. there is a wonderful company called Spoonflower where you can send your digital designs and have it printed. I’ve printed some of my watercolors.(not Procreate.) on fabric on Spoonflower. Terrific company.
Hi Mel. Thank you for all this wonderful tutorials 🙏🏻. I am having a great time and I learn so much.🤩 I have a question : how do you decide whether to use procreate or photoshop to create a pattern?
Thank you for watching! For simple patterns, I use Procreate. For the more complex patterns (lots of motifs, layers, textures, etc) I use Photoshop to create the pattern.
When using the transform tool, make sure interpolation is set to Bicubic. This should reduce the blurring. I would also avoid moving things around too much if possible.
Hi Mel, i got stuck at the beginning part making the circle. i followed what you did over and over and snapping into a perfect circle didn't work for me in Procreate. i made sure i had the latest version of procreate and that snapping and magnetics was switched on but it still didn't work. do you have any ideas what's going wrong?
Dear Mel…. PLEASE HELP 😱. I have apple ipad and computer and for the life of me I cannot find an app that will not only create a seamless pattern but let me edit the image so it blends nicely. I sware I have paid for every app saying that it will do that but I have yet to get them to! Can you suggest how I can take my graphics and turn them into seamless patterns? What’s the best app to use? I have procreate along with all the other ones. Signed-Kathleen 😢
@@MelArmstrong hi if I buy I pad 9th generation so can i download in procreate app,? And nowreal ni or reademi tab lunch can i download procreate app in it?
Does anybody know how something like this can be created on an Android tablet? I got Lenovo tablet for Christmas and to my dissapointment it doesn't support Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I've tried Krita, Sketchbook and Infinite Painter but so far none of them has proved really suitable for digital drawing and surface pattern design. Any advice would be much appreciated!

At 3:31, when i do this, it fills the rectangle in with black. The options are greyed out in selection tool except.for color fill. I need help
Madam, please can you tell me whether this design can be sold in patternbank.
No it won't be on Patternbank. But I can license it if you're interested. Just send me a message via my website here: www.melarmstrong.com/contact

It may be turned off. Go into Actions -> prefs -> gesture Controls -> Quickshape. Then make sure Draw and Hold is toggled on.
Thankyou for replying! I will try this!
