I own DX240 and it sounds fantastic. Recently I purchased AMP8 MK2s and it took this DAP to the next level. It actually made some of my IEMs useable. Moondrop Variations is known for having 3k dip. Right now it is not even noticeable. Voice is well defined and not pushed back. Also HD6XX sounds better especially in lower frequencies. Great player.
Been using my AK Kann Max with Meze Advars, both from Bloom, for about 6 months now. So very satisfied with both. The Kann has a cool v-link for Hi Res music videos with classy artists. The only small drawback is their WiFi reception witch occasionally buffers some music videos. I did have a problem with the SD card getting stuck and Steve immediately sent me a new player. Superb customer service.
My first DAP was the DX160. I quickly exchanged it for an SR25 MK2. The sound far exceeded the DX160. In addition, the interface of the DX160 was very prone to bugs. There were no problems with Astell&Kern. In a few days my Kann Max will arrive and I'm looking forward to being able to test it extensively. I think it will be the right playing partner, especially for my magnetostats.
Absolutely happy with the sound of my DX240. And what good with it that you can change sound character with their changeable amps. Amp8 has more warmer sound then Amp1. Its like you have 2 different players for almost same money)
Ye man, dx240 is a great unit. I have been using it as the main driver for the past few months. Personally I think it is more of a neutral bright sound, very clean. Recently I have just gotten the AK SE180 with SEM 4 module (AK chip), it is more neutral warm sounding as compared to dx240, very smooth. I think they are good complement.
Hello, I am looking for a full android DAP most of them seem to be strippedexcept for the sony NWA105.I have tried the Fiio M11s its not full android do you have any suggessions please….. many thanks
I'm going to look at the reviews but I'm leaning towards the ibasso as I listen to Audible and SCRIBD audiobooks constantly and also regularly enjoy RUclips music videos and I used to listen to my purchased music until Samsung buggered the music app and merged with RUclips music. With the exception of purchased music, I understand none of the A&K players will do any of that will they? I use IEM's and want the best possible sound from them so my first thought was A&K until I learned how restricted they are which given their extreme price is ridiculous.
I really want to know how long the battery on these players will last on Bluetooth connection. I'm looking for one where the battery while on bluetooth lasts at least 12 hrs for a work shift while staying well under $1,000. I should add that all music will be put onto an SD card or downloaded directly on the player if it has enough storage
I don't know if it's still available (we're currently sold out), but the best one I'm aware of for battery life under $1000 is the Astell&Kern SR25 MKII, which can run 20 hours of continuous playback time. Most of the others would probably run 8-10 hours in most circumstance. There may be some more barebones options from brands like Cayin or Fiio, which provide stronger battery life, but without support for apps or streaming services.
Excellent review. Please can you help. I am looking for a dap to use with my Focal Bathys (which will primarily be used in bluetooth mode) the Bathys are incredible in bluetooth mode. I would like a small device that I can put in my pocket. I am not too fussed about streaming as I will transfer my hi res over to it. I woudn’t mind if it was an older model but be nice if it was quite premium. Be interesting to have your view on this. In the past I have had an Astel and Kern 240 and the flagship Sony (the gold one) and Lotto Paw Gold. The incredibly expensive players then were so over priced and after a while I got so used to them that I was never really that impressed with them. I think technology has moved on and the pricing has become more affordable. Many thanks
Hi, since you're not concerned about apps or power output, I would probably recommend the A&K Sr25 MKII for your use case. The Bluetooth support is good, and the device is portable, and performs very well outside of streaming apps. It should be a good match overall.
@@BloomAudio Many thanks and I appreciate your recommendation. Would you have another brand in mind as I really think A&K are incredibly overpriced for what they are. All I want is good bluetooth and be able to transfer my CD collection and other hi res music. Thanks again
@@anncleverley4721 The iBasso DX170 would probably work well for you as well, but it has less internal storage than the SR25 MKII (both support microSD cards up to 1TB though), and I think as a pure player experience with no apps, the SR25 MKII is superior.
For the most part a DAP or a Mojo2+Poly is solving the same problem, but I could see some value in using a DAP to fully separate your Phone from your music playback. It would probably work best in a situation where you're playing back 100% downloaded music stored on the player and have the player and Mojo+Poly set for direct WiFi hotspot connection rather than using a common wireless network.
Wow the tech of stand alone music devices really went to hell. Terrible. Overpriced outdated tech. I just want a simple drag and drop audio player that has tons of storage. This is exceeding Apple prices and does less than an iTouch from over 10 years ago. This is unnacceptable.

For sure - Amp8/MK2 is definitely a big upgrade for DX220/DX240.

Appreciate the kind words, Steve! 🙂

I got the Mojo2 and Poly combo, would it still be interesting for me to buy a DAP?

@Bloom Audio thank you!

Does your itouch sound better than these pro grade audio players? I think not. Then you are not the target market for these.
You're complaining about outdated tech but asking for a simple drag and drop interface 😂
