One thing not mentioned here are the needed headphones. I own a Sony NW-ZX500 SERIES DAP, together w/a set of Focal Elegias, Closed-Back Over-Ear Wired Headphones. I bought them something like four or five years ago. My Sony DAC has Android on it, which isn't the most energy efficient of an OS. Perhaps they need to replace it w/one like Steam uses, which is tuned for their gaming handheld, and is very efficient as a result.

Depends on the player! Astell&Kern uses the headphone out and you use the drop-down to select the line level out function. My only annoyance with the AK players, I can't install a video player on there. I have the Kann Alpha and love the sound, just wish I could watch video on it. Even the Kann Ultra doesn't allow it (which I plan to eventually get). One of my favorite things to do with an AK DAP is to connect it to a PC, so I can watch ASMR videos. Would be nice to just bypass having a PC and just have the video on the DAP. I also have the Sony NW-WM1AM2, but dear god did they put a slow proc in there. You have to uninstall or disable as much of the Android bloat as you can to get it to run reasonably okay. Sony should have did all that for me, not me having to go in and configure it all. I wanted both, as I want an analytical sounding DAP and I also wanted a warm sounding DAP. One thing I did find out when used as a USB DAC, the AK works flawlessly. Music or video, perfect. The Sony, perfect for music. When watching video, the audio and video are out of sync. Probably less than a sec out of sync, but still very noticeable. I have an AK SR25 that has the same audio/video sync issue. I don't know why, but you never see anyone talk about these things with DAPs. I guess they just expect everyone to not be using them for such and have a desktop setup already. I mean, I do have that at home, but I use my DAPs at work as DACs.
The FiiO M17 is still the most versatile DAP on the market when it comes to inputs/outputs features and has plenty of power! Half the price of these DAP’s. Astell & Kern’s SP2000 is still their best sounding DAP. The other two you’re not getting much for the price…

i think Apple should compete in this market especially since they're pushing HiRes Classical and lossless in Apple Music. they should sell something like an "iPod Special Edition" specifically for HiRes listening and a portable device for 3D audio recording.
Nothing about Apple makes sense these days. They offer Hi-Res files but none of their products can resolve Hi-Res files. They push USB-C on MacBooks and iPad but refuse to implement it on the iPhone. Reviewing the topic of daps, would the Fiio M23 rival these 3 models? An acquaintance is offering it to me, a hug from Lima - Peru.
Not convincing, but sony does have a style of its own, that's undeniable. But the 1am2 and 1zm2 (I previously sold the 1am2 pending the release of the fio m23 later this year) I experienced multiple crashes and button failures when playing local music I purchased, the supposed musicality is just tuning and every manufacturer is different. sony's claimed playback times are far from satisfactory and it's not unreasonable that other brands continue to top the sales charts in Japan. The 1zm2 is really good, he's very sony, but there are so many options that have arrived at this price that it's very debatable whether it's worth recommending unless one is a sony fanatic f. As for the 1am2 there are so many cheaper and better options than him.
You will get a larger sound difference in higher quality iems or headphones. DAC are such an overpriced item with a larger diminishing returns compared to Iems or headphones.
@@Sweetaccord DAPs* are the overpriced items with diminishing returns in this context. but agreed logically with the base argument - better to invest in a good headphone/speaker/IEMs.

That's how they make the battery last so long buddy! Guessing it's an OLED screen which wasn't mentioned in this review of all 3. The black real estate on the Sony's screen boosts its juice massively!
Greetings, dear, it is a pleasure to be able to find this type of content that is clearly to my liking, where thanks to your suggestion we have a more intelligent purchase and choice base within reach. Reviewing the topic of daps, would the Fiio M23 rival these 3 models? An acquaintance is offering it to me, a hug from Lima - Peru.

That's our pick for a Flagship DAP at a bargain price! 🙂 Check it out here: www.moon-audio.com/dx320-dap-music-player.html
Ok Ricky is like legit funny
Wow. These units are around 3.5K each.
looking for mp3 player with bluetooth, long battery life..
no wifi no online shit
just want to upload music via computer
Cowon is what you want. Their philosophy is they don't like anything effecting the audio at all so no apps, or bluetooth or wifi.
Wrong 🤪
Oh my goodness I can't afford that. Bye!
@@harshpherwani6590 True
Soft white gloves should be used whenever touching a DAP. It deepens and widens the sound stage and improves the richness of the tonal quality of the device.
The start is ridiculous. And sony has the best eq.
My Apple iPod classic lasted from 2008 till Audible books voided Apple and Microsoft last month April 2023, Steve Job's was just another Elon Musk with views of the future and made them using the best engineers in the world...
Man I am sooooo not the target audience at this moment in my life 😂😂😂😂 soon though.
premuim price
the quad-DAC in my $50 LG V30 phone sounds pretty good too, just saying.
Je te crois
Fiio ms11 plus ess all day for me , forget the super high price.
I have Astell&Kern Alpha Kann has got Bluetooth connection. Making me sick of it.
The prices........they scare me.
This video has so many Acronyms. That it make no sense to me .
Well that explains why moonaudio blocked my account. Look im sorry for eating the DAPs I purchased from you ok. I wont do it again
why tf do daps cost so much lmao 😅😅
A very unique system..but its a very high price point..in a matter in time around the corner it will become obsolete.
Remember the IPOD..! Rip analogy systems.
Quite affordable
And brands you don't sell?
Sorry I was a Tesla in another life?
I would love to have them but for the price I can take a vacation to Europe.
I like more the others who have buttons, this looks like just like a boring phone
Just get an LG V60, and save your money. If you know, you know.
Can the Lg v60 really compete with these Daps?
@@ScottSterling21 ofcourse, LGv60 does better if not the same. It has quad DAC from Sabre, do your research.
@primusloy LG v60 is lacking in amp section. And just because it has a quad dac setup from Sabre does not mean it competes on the same level as top of the line daps.
@@primusloy AKM shits on Sabre 😂
None of the are worth 299.99😂😂
I just want to know with $4000 what he would purchase personally.
for empty room ofc everything, 800 each i guess
for real self not sure not really need anything audio wise, but guess if its gift the astel dap
Sony is Sony
true people should stop thinking too much abt it, its like football teams you know, if barcelona owner bought 20 teams doesnt mean every players are messi, staf still different approaches and recipes etc
Good luck to push the Sony up to 20H, sony always lies about the batterie life.
Nope that's a blatant lie my sony lasts me 3 weeks without needing to charge I ❤ it
So the fiio ms 17 garbage ? I don't think so , and super hi price doesn't always mean luxury status , 900 can beat a 3000 price . Mentally people think more expensive automatically better
J'ai le M15 et je ne l'apprécie pas forcément ( avec un Clear)

shame on sony for making their flagship player in china
So big and bulky.
Literally over 3k usd.....
My MYMAHDI blows these away
Outdated processors, outdated Android OS, laggy UI. You have to be nuts to buy one of these over a similarly spec'd Chinese DAP.
All these Daps run some old version of android, so it’s always a laggy experience. Even worse for Chinese Daps, it seems they have no quality control. I bought a defective Dx170 and had to return it. A 50$ budget android runs better
@@RaisinEnjoyer I agree with you, but there are some decent Chinese DAPs. I just bought a Hiby R6 gen 3 and it's decently non-laggy with its Snapdragon 665 and Android 12 and sounds great with my planars.
@@astifcaulkinyeras the Chinese daps seem to be on par to the expensive brands like Sony and astell for half the price. From my experience and what I’ve seen, all daps are set up to fail because of android
@@astifcaulkinyeras I got mine too. I love it!
Chinese DAPs suck lol never pay 4k$ for a Chinese DAP 🤣
I will get 5 of them... and load mp3 audios downloaded from 144p RUclips videos.
Let's see how many audiophiles i triggered
Yea the sony musicality is called distortion some ppl enjoy high 2nd order harmonics tube amps I'm looking your way but for that kinda money nope 3rd party tests show its terrible along with the astell&kern 3000 test worse then much cheaper options
Im the 666th like on this video, loved it
