    Very thorough review. Learning and watching before I decide on my first Evergoods backpack.

      I loved my Standard Grey V1, but I do love the updates the newer versions have like the suspended laptop compartment, updated backpanel and improved organization.

    how I wish evergoods (CPL24 and 16) will replace that strtchy material inside, put some compartment on the upper ziipper inside, laguage friendly... I will still ditch CPL line.. for the meantime. a Friend of mine have watter bottle externall attachment, clipped on the sides of CPL.

    Does it stand on its one on its side though?

      You mean in ‘briefcase mode’? It can, but that largely depends on what’s packed inside.

    Any opinion on 840D vs Ecopak (besides the better water resistance of the Ecopak)? Thanks for the video!

    • @ECsEDC
      @ECsEDC  3 месяца назад +3

      I think there are a few benefits to ecopak which are the following:
      - very water resistant shell
      - materials are recycled and created from plastic bottles
      - the EPX400 feels softer than the OD Green made with X-Pac X42
      The downside is we have yet to see how this ages and if there are issues with the laminate or color fading.
      Aside from that, it’s a great material and I don’t think you’d go wrong with either.

      @@ECsEDC thanks for taking the time to reply! I ordered the Ecopak CPL24 and will decide between that and the CTB26 Xpac. I’m envisioning this as a work bag replacement that I’ll also use to bring gym gear. I know the CTB is bigger and can hold more of my stuff (such as physical work files), but the CPL looks a little sleeker and slightly more professional IMO. We’ll see!

      @@ECsEDC I decided to keep the Ecopak CPL24. The CTB26 was too big for EDC purposes, but not big enough to outright replace my Aer Gym Duffle for my gym gear. I'd still have to use my gym duffel for my gym days when I go to work, so I went with the slightly smaller, sleeker, and more professional looking bag - the CPL24. So far I've really enjoyed it. I love the look and I've used it on its side a LOT (like a makeshift briefcase). I somewhat miss the water bottle pockets, but it's not as much of a hinderance since this is more of a work bag. I also picked up an Alpaka Bravo Tote that I use for my bottles (water bottle, coffee tumbler, protein shake, workout shake bottle, misc food) that picks up the slack.
      The wild card is that right after I decided to keep the CPL24 and ripped off the tags, the CTB20 became available on Evergoods' website. I ordered it without thinking, and I'm testing it out at work today. If I do keep it, it'd be as an alternative work backpack for my gym days, and as a weekend EDC bag where onboard access and bottle holders (Dad/Dog parent bag) is more important. We'll see!

    420D vs 840D. I'm still very new to the carry world. Why do people prefer one over the other? Or some only prefers X-Pac? Speaking of dopp kits, I'm considering between the AER Travel Kit 2, Peak Design Wash Pouch small or even the Gravel Explorer Slim.

    • @ECsEDC

      At a high level denier (“D”) refers to the weight of a single piece of yarn being used. 420d is half the weight of 840d.
      My favorite is 840d but that’s ultimately a personal decision based on what you need in terms of weather resistance and also how it feels to you.
      EVERGOODS 420d that you find on the CTBs is very smooth and almost has a gleam or a shine to it and provides pretty great weather resistance. The 840d is more robust, will not feel as smooth but does feel ‘thicker’.
      Xpac is a type of fabric made by Dimension Polyant and is a technical sailcloth known for its weather resistance and durability. If you’ve never held it before, it can be very rigid and firm but that also depends on the quantity of layers used.
      The Aer Travel Kit works for me. My partner uses the PD Wash Kit but I don’t think I’d need something that large. Gravel products intrigue me but I have not tried them yet.

      @@ECsEDC I am considering between the Travel Kit 2, Wash Pouch small or the Explorer Slim/Mini or even the CAP 0.5 for a true minimalistic dopp kit. I only carried 5 items for toiletry during my last 3 days trip.
      Speaking of X-Pac, I am using the AER Day Sling 3 X-Pac for my EDC. It's my first ever X-Pac material bag and it has a bit of dimples over time. I live in South East Asia where the climate is hot, humid and heavy rains so X-Pac material with the Aquaguard zippers really helps during rainfall. On the other hand, the hot and humid climate will wear out the X-Pac and the Aquaguard coating faster that is why it is not good to leave an X-Pac bag inside the car under the hot sun and also not stay under the sun for too long

    How does it compare to CTB? Seems like the travel bag has added features

    • @ECsEDC
      @ECsEDC  3 месяца назад

      They’re totally different beasts. CTB has bottle pockets, more quick access pockets, additional organization and a luggage passthrough.
