Able Carry Daily Plus | Backpack Review | Best EDC Backpack For Most People?
That backpack looks thick
It’s definitely larger, and even more so when packed out. Quality is certainly there, though.
How does the height compare to the CPL24, in reality?
Id say it’s exactly as the dimensions sat. The Daily Plus is an inch or so taller than the CPL24. Not really noticeable in my experience though.
@@ECsEDC Thanks!
I have that bag and I love it. Even more since I replaced the jiggly zipper pulls with some silicone ones from Amazon.
That tech pouch is 200€!?
Hand made by one my personal favorite makers. I think there’s price worth paying knowing you spoke and worked with the person making a product for you. Definitely not in everyone’s price range, but Filip is an incredible maker.
Awesome job dude great review keep it up
Appreciate it, thanks for watching!
Great video What is the tech pouch brand ?! I like the slim shape
That’s the EVERGOODS CAP1! One of my favorite all time pouches!
is the CTB26 noticeably larger? seems to be about the same in the video?
The major dimensional difference is height. There’s only a half inch depth difference. I can noticeable tell the height difference between them when wearing the CTB20, as it’s a few inches shorter.
Is the main compartment slip pocket suspended and can it hold a 16 inch laptop with a sleeve?
Yes and yes. The only thing to consider is that a 16” machine (mines a MBP), will cover about half of the internal mesh pocket inside the bag. So that reduces the dimensional space available.
How you liking the duffel? Thinking of getting one for a gym bag. Are the straps and ropes easy to grab and go when moving from one spot to another. :)
Dan’s duffles are great pieces of handmade work. This one was super special since it’s a 1 of 1 and I passed it along to another collector. But to answer your question, yes the straps are super easy to grab. The ropes give you a nice authentic aesthetic and the straps are nice and ergonomic. Dan just released Article 367 in Indigo and it looks really nice.
@@ECsEDCyou go around the inside of the bag placing stuff in the pockets and I get the impression the pockets are shallow for that little bag and stuff will fall out of the side pockets. Are the side pockets useful? I would probably just put keys, cellphone, AirPods in them and perhaps a bag of candy or sports gels
@@ECsEDCI went ahead with ordering the indigo. I love Japanese Indigo material and looking forward to how this bag looks and works!
Do you prefer the Able Carry Daily Plus or the Aer - City Pack Pro 24L?
Overall, I’m partial to the Able Carry Daily Plus
@ thank you
i have both this and gr1, the gr1 straps are way more comfortable, and it was only 100$ more than ct21 on black friday sale 😂
You must have used the 2.0, the CT 3.0 straps are just as comfortable as Goruck.
@grovster no its v3, i think the straps are still not as wide and thick as gr1
That’s a great price on the GR1! I definitely agree. CT is close but GR has always been better, once broken in. I don’t feel CT needs a break in period like GR does.
You mean more than double the price? 😂 I’m surprised GR let their prices down to $160 on a Gr1. Still 2x the price which is a lot for many people. Did it at least have a qap that goruck copied? I did buy a GR M23 for $99 on BF sales, which is a great pack and deal. I like it because it is different from my CT.
@chrizzle17 nah ct21 with shipping is 100$, gr1 on sale is 200$ free ship, it is double tho yeh ct21 has more features lol, qap same as gr1 new version, sternum strap included, better organisation, smoother zippers (imo), but comfort not as good, no warranty, so imo gr1 still wins
Water bottle next your electronics. Not very tacticool.
I guess there’s a sacrifice to make for having the sleek exterior. Bottle has to go somewhere - at least here it’s kept upright from the internal pockets and most folks will have their laptop in the back panel.
Thank you for the video! I was wondering, does the laptop compartment have enough padding to protect a MacBook from potential damage in case the bag is accidentally dropped?
Yes it does. It’s padded and suspended. They do a great job with protecting your gear.
@@ECsEDC thank you 🙏
CT is great! Hoping they do a 26L group buy soon in their Facebook group!
Would you mind sharing where you got that awesome patch? Keep up the great reviews!
This one is from Pack Config I got a couple years back. Though, I’m not sure the store is still open now.
Hm, not sure but maybe you can make a simple handle just by connecting paracord or something like it between top connection points.
That's a great idea! I'll have to try that out.
What are the bags you do keep?
I want to know, too.
Well bags are always coming in and out but there’s a core group made up of EVERGOODS and Filip Raboch.
Great review, with really helpful comments thanks. For me, your points about the security offered [or not in the case of the laptop compartment] by the zips was particularly useful.
I’m glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching.
I've got this backpack. Although it's listed as 21L, the actual capacity is 32L, which means it's far too large to use as a personal item on a plane. The measurements converted to CM are 36 x 19 x 48. Unlike the GR1, the bottom is not padded, so greater care must be taken in packing cameras and other delicate equipment.
What a shame. I see a bag with length anything over 17inches I pass immediately without seeing any other features it offers, how it looks feels like etc. It is very rare to find an airline for international travel that allows personal item size bags taller than 17inches. You restrict the use of the bag to mostly domestic flights. So now you need to buy another one just for international travel. Most big brand name bag manufacturers really don't give a f. about people who are interested in traveling the world with their bags. They only aim for daily and domestic travelers. CTB20 and Osprey 26+6 are the two I know off that pass for that purpose. Other than that, we are stuck with no name smaller brands for now.
I agree. Not a ton of bags out there under 17”. The Greenroom136 Northseeker is 17.5” and might be an option in addition to the CTB20.
Can the bag the laid down flat? I see that the "A-frame" bottom looks pretty sturdy and rigid. If I wanted to pack this bag inside a larger bag for week-long travels, could I flatten the bottom so it packs nicely without taking up too much space?
This is definitely not the bag I’d pick to be a packed bag. Take a look at my video on packable backpacks.
I’ve snagged a black 500d cordura one during the sale. For the price it’s unbeatable. Great video as always!
What’s the white pouch?

3:54 I’m Team 210 🙋🏽♂️
Hi, Great video! first video Ive seen on this bag that's not more then 2 years old. I been doing a lot of research and have narrow down my decision between Heimplanets 28 or 34L or Evergoods CTB 26 or 35L. My use for the bag mainly would be traveling and as camera bag for my business, with camera cubes. Im curious which directions you or the group here would recommend going? which has a more comfortable carry? Which is more durable and likely to last? what size would you recommend? (My normal travel is 4 to 8 days of travel and usually able to wash clothes if needed) I appreciate any advice. and thanks for creating this great content!
Hey there Michael. There’s a pretty large difference between each brands set of bags in terms of size, especially with EVERGOODS. I find that the CTB35 is a fantastic bag but when that bag is overstuffed and weighed down by heavy loads (think clothes and camera gear) the straps don’t handle the weight as well as other bags. I love the CTBs organization. One of the best designed bags out there. Especially for the side access tech compartment, dual quick access pockets and overall pocket layout. The Heimplanet Transit Line Travel Packs are unique. I like the ability to segment and divide the main cavity, or if you want to make it one large space. I’d say that the straps will be a little better overall and they handle weight well. I think their organization and layout is pretty good, but not as good as EVERGOODS. Neither has great hip belts but EG is better. Both bags are built to last. Both use quality materials and are well built. Before getting into my answer, a one thing to consider? Are you minimal or do you bring the kitchen sink when traveling? If minimal, the CTB26 over the Heimplanet 28, and if you bring a lot - the Heimplanet 34 over CTB35.
Thank you very much for the detailed responses @@ECsEDC. This is so help full i'm going to do pack out for my next trip coming up and see how much stuff it is and that will help me make my decision from there! thanks so much!
I realize spacer mesh is kind of a universal term now but saw vid w Kevin Dee from EG he said they dont use the typical spacer mesh other companies typically use. Its a proprietary fabric they developed outside the pack industry. Just FYI great vid.
Somehow this bag looks smaller than the cpl 16. Contemplating of getting something small for edc like the waxxed version of the cpl 16 vs Goruck bullet waxed. Which one would you go for? Based upon your cpl 16 review. It certainly looks like a great bag. Wonderful channel by the way!
Thanks for the kind words! The CBB is definitely larger than the CPL16, even if they share similar dimensions. I love the CPL16, and would consider that my bag of the year in 2024. It’s the perfect size for EDC if you value a dedicated laptop/tech storage facility. The Bullet Ruck is great but I find those to make my back super sweaty and the laptop compartment feels like a board on my back. My choice would also be the CPL16 between the two.
I have the Bellroy Lite Pack. Packs easy. Comfortable and functional.
You really are the goat for these comparisons! If I carry at least one (16oz, insulated) water bottle, and often a similarly sized coffee thermos, would the literage advantage the CPL 24 has over the CTB20 be largely eaten up by packing those bottles into the main compartment? Perfect bag for me is a CPL24 with bottle pockets on the outside, because I’m 6’3 and often find smaller packs a bit uncomfortable. With the negligible difference in the dimensions, though (and the advantage of bottle pockets), I’m wondering if the CTB20 might actually work well.
As a follow up, how does the capacity on the CHZ22 stack up to these two, again given the external bottle pockets? I don't need too many quick access points, so I think the top pocket on the CHZ would probably be sufficient. The lines of the CTB seem to offer more space-optimization, but the lack of separate laptop compartment on the CHZ makes me wonder if that leads to a more capacious main pocket. Thanks again for your great reviews!
Thanks! A video like wasn’t there when I wanted help others in a simulation. What else do you carry on the regular? Hard to answer that question without knowing what else is going into that main cavity. Happy to give my thoughts with more info provided. The CHZs both pack a bigger punch than their literage suggests. They hold a ton and are super versatile considering you don’t pay the real estate price for the external laptop storage. The quick access in the CHZ is sizable but the CPL24 ‘feels’ just a bit bigger as the bag itself is larger. I will say that if you love the additional admin org of the CPL or CTB, you might have regrets with the CHZ. But the CHZ is an incredible bag on its own.
@@ECsEDC thank you for the reply! This would primarily be my work bag, which means: 16 oz water bottle + 16oz coffee thermos (Chunky) 13in work laptop Lunch (usually just a medium-sized Tupperware container or two) Basic tech (chargers, battery bank, etc) Extra layer (usually a Patagonia torrentshell) I'd also like to use the bag for shorter trips (I have the Alpaka travel backpack for my dedicated travel bag), in which case I thought the extra real estate gained by removing the separate laptop compartment might work in the CHZ's favor. Re: the additional admin, I don't mind defaulting to pouches, as most of my packs are light on organization (with the exception of the pocket-packed Alpaka, lol). I would certainly use a slash/quick access pocket on the front of the bag, but I wouldn't miss the slip pockets on the CTB/CPL.
You’d certainly be able to use any of the three, but the larger laptop might be a tighter fit in the CHZ. If you’re going to use it for travel, the CTB20 has the luggage passthrough which may be the most helpful. If I were to choose just one of the three, while a very tough decision. If you need the luggage passthrough grab the CTB20. If you don’t I’d code the CPL24 as it’s the most well rounded. The catch, I’m only 6’ and I felt the CTB20 was a bit short feeling on my back. You’re a few inches taller so that might be accentuated. The extra inch in length on the CHZ22 makes it feel very comfy for me.
@@ECsEDC appreciate the insights! I never travel with a roller, so definitely don't need that feature of the CTB. Sounds like it might be a little short/uncomfy on me anyway (as I had feared!), so it'll be between the CPL and CHZ. I'll look around for some deals on the second-hand market. Only catch with the CPL is I'd need to find a mirrored edition-swinging on my left shoulder will drive me crazy! 😂
Perfect timing. Mine is arriving in 5 days !
What is the blue pouch?
Dmade Stubby!
can definitely see the video production efforts you have made since your early videos. Great job
Appreciate it, I'm always trying to improve!
Great review as always. Curious to hear your thoughts on this bag vs the Alpaka Metro Pro. Which of the two would you pick and why? Also, I know the Metro Pro is listed as 24L but which of the two can hold the most?
Thanks! Hmmm, they’re pretty different bags. The Alpaka feels more refined whereas the SERT is more rugged. I’d say the SERT holds more due to the external bottle pockets. Tough to make a call but I’d go with the Alpaka because of the dedicated tech storage for both a laptop and tablet. I don’t love the internal pouches on the Metro though.
@@ECsEDC Interesting choice. I guess the Penumbra reminded me of the Brown Buffalo Concealpack, which is not too dissimilar from the Metro Pro in terms of structure and features. And seeing as AON recently restocked this bag, I was considering giving it a chance. It seems to have a bunch of features I wished the Metro Pro had: external water bottle pockets, a top QA pocket and a full clamshell opening - the latter being my main gripe with the Metro Pro. And while it does certainly have a sleeker aesthetic, the Penumbra 2.0 seems to be a tad more functional. Thank for your response!
100% on the external bottle pockets. That is one of the best feature on this bag. I think you're right about functionality, but for me the biggest need is tech storage. I don't love when bags have an easy to access tech compartment. If you were leaning towards the Sert -- go for it.
Great review, Eric! Thanks. I have and love the Travel Pack 3, so I think I'll pick up one of these for EDC use.
Is the strap long enough to wear crossbody at hip level?
I bought the Sling strap separately and it is long enough for me to wear it crossbody at hip level. I'm 5'-6" tall. The swivel feature of the sling strap is good to have.
Thanks. Got it touch with the company and got the measurements. I'd prefer the Sling strap since I'm 6'2" and would like the longer strap. Cheers!
Yup! I find it can sit at the hip in crossbody style.
It's snowing in the background...
A winter wonderland ❄️ ⛄️
I had the CPP on my shortlist but opted for Evergoods CPL16 as my EDC. I regret not also getting the CPP when it was on sale during Black Friday since I think it’ll make for a great travel bag!
That CPL16 is one of my favorites though the City Pack better compares to it than the CPP.
Looks very boxy
Definitely one of my downsides, but if you can get past that, it’s a great bag.
Most bags are boxy lol. Luv aer have several slings, leaning towards 2025 evergoods stuff tho CPL24 kn ecopack
We can see here low-key but the most unique and precise interpretation of how EDC bags should be designed. Best guide of its kind ushering us to the same backpacks we've been looking for. Love this.
Hey! 🔥🔥🔥
Peak design packing cubes are 33cmx33cmx16cm(8cm compressed) The bag is 29cm outside, so 27-28cm inside? and 10cm deep at the bottom. How did you manage to fit the cube in the main compartment yet alone alongside with a cap2 on top? Is it at 70-80 percent capacity (the pd cube that is)? Or is the bag that flexible and it is capable of expanding up to 2 inches widthwise?
I’ve never had a problem with any PD cube and an EVERGOODS bag, no matter how stuffed they are. Between the flexibility of clothing and the fabric of the bag, they both give enough to compensate for the fit.
@@ECsEDC Good to know. Thanks for that, cheers.
I am currently deciding between this bag and the AER City Pack pro. I prefer the water bottle feature on the AER bag since it’s a quicker access but I know they are not the tightest grip. Glossy water bottles tend to fall out. Which is a better bag in your opinion? Thanks!
I’d definitely say I prefer the Aer City Pack Pro. It hits home better in aesthetics and in use for me.
I still believe CTactical is the reason why GoRuck finally added QAP’s to the newer packs. It’s a shame they were banned from the CC group. They offer a great value to the consumer.
how ya like those straps? :)
Straps are comfy, very padded and come feeling soft, not firm.
Material?
Materials are in the description but it’s a 420d Ripstop inside and outside.
I appreciate it brother, my bad I was on the RUclips app on my tv and didn’t see it in the description my fault. Last question - how does it wear compared to goruck? I’m so used to their harness and the fit on my back esp when it’s packed full.
@ I think they are similar. GORUCK has much thicker straps that take much longer to break in but when those break in, they’re more comfortable than the CTs. Neither has a back panel that breathes well either so prepare for a sweaty back when it’s warm out.
do you like it better than goruck?
Compared to which bag specifically?
@@Medsasoh yes, I assumed that. I guess I should have asked which version. There’s so many nowadays. They’re similar but overall this is a better value as it’s $85.
Looks like a great bag!
Evergoods support told me they don’t use strap keepers because they are a point of failure. I told them they were full of it because pants, watches, saddles, and more have all had strap keepers for ages.
I wish they included them!
Can you fit a pair of dress shoes with a pair of dress pants shirt and sport coat and another casual outfit in the ctb20....or would it be a bit tight.
It’s definitely a little tight but I do think it would work. I laid my shoes at the bottom (size 11 was tight for the bag’s width) with the soles in opposite direction. You have somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 of the main space for your clothes. I’d flip the jacket inside out and fold up, lay the pants on top and then you could probably get another outfit in there. Not sure if you also need a dopp kit but that might be hard to fit in addition.
@@ECsEDCThanks for the quick reply. I'm thinking I could put some of the toiletries in the front pocket, or even in one of the water bottle pockets. The ctb 26 is just too big for EDC and this might be the perfect size for EDC and a day business trip bag. And also a companion travel bag for longer trips since it has a pass through and a day pack since it has water bottle pockets....it's almost perfect... Wish is was one inch shallower in depth and worried about the back digging issue I hear. Have you experienced that?
@@johnpuchalski1369I don’t experience the back digging at all with evergoods products. I’m 6’ but the real measurement is torso length so take that with a grain of salt. It may be one of those things that’s hard to gauge until you have it person and load it out. There’s a lot of discussion around the depth of the CTB20/26. The 20 is 8.5” deep and the 26 is 9, so both are deep bags, but that’s what allows for the bottle pockets, and likely one of the main reasons the CPL24 (7” depth) is unlikely to ever get bottle pockets. Hope that helps!
Good review. Nice point about choice of replacing the sling strap. I'm really glad for the clean design and don't miss the handle. The under compartment that houses the straps gives it some extra room to breathe, but yes, it's not for stowing gear. Good to know I can fit my Yeti bottle.
Thanks for watching!
