Another superb video all about a superb games developer. Oh what a wonderful world we live in to have access to all these retro classics. Having to save all your pennies back in the day, just to buy a couple of games a year, was crazy.
100% people have quickly forgotten how hard to come by these games actually was. We now live in a world of “I want it now”. In some ways that’s a great thing, but is it good for society, our children or your soul 😉
I’ve loaded from tape a few times in recent years, but prefer quick loads when playing and recording. For me retrogaming has always been a thing for me. It was a sad day for me when old games started to become more popular and prices rise through the roof. Thank goodness I was able to collect early on before the insane price increases.
@@ClassicReplay yeah it’s also tough when you see prices now but remember the same games at a fraction of the cost not that long ago. I’m lucky in that I don’t desire a big collection, maybe just my top 5 to 10 games on each system and the rest from everdrive. I also have a Div Mmc, but amy top few Speccy games are always loaded from tape for the full experience 😁
Great memories! It's only in the last 6 months or so that I've finally been playing Jetpac with a controller (gamepad in my case). Finally, I can clear a few levels!
Fantastic memories. So glad the game that got No.1 got No. 1, easily my absolute favourite. And Jetpac is still brilliant. Like you I will be on my PS5 one minute and be on my speccy emulator the next. Thank you.
Man, I spent so much of my childhood playing on the ZX Spectrum! The most upsetting thing, waiting 5 minutes with the loading sounds, only for it not to work!
@@ClassicReplay Good point! But man could you get an epic game library with a twin deck cassette recorder. The amount of games swapped and passed around was crazy, and if you didn't like the game, ya just went over the same cassette again!
For me, Alien 8 was the last great Ultimate game. I never cared much for anything after that. But from their first game, the utterly superb Jetpac, to Alien 8, the entire run of games were brilliant. My favourite ever is probably Underwurlde, closely followed by Atic Atac, Jetpac, and Lunar Jetman.
As I've said in the video, I loved all the Ultimate games. Each brings something new and you can tell they spent a lot of time crafting them together. I do like Alien 8 as well though. As for Jet Pac, say no more.
The humble 16K Cookie is the best of them imo, and the one I fire up the most now. It's a proper arcade game, unlike most of the others. Would have liked 48K versions of Cookie and Jetpac. 48K Cookie could have had more ingredients to blast into the mixing bowl and different cakes rising. Lunar Jetman plays a lot better with a gamepad than it ever did with a single button joystick. Still a damned tough game, though! Never thought Tranz Am or Underwurlde were any good.
Another great video. Underwurlde! Obsessed. By crickey it's hella hard now though. I was way better at games when I was 12 :) Any Codey people here know if these games could run on the Playdate (sorry, but I have a vested interest) - The spectrum will always be my first love :) Plus does anyone else think attic attack - good choice! inspired Binding of Isaac clearly. And some one please put it on the PD !!
If SEGA would have partnered with RARE... Nintendo would have sued lol! While I think Nintendo has some brilliant programmers and game design, their legal team was and is a bunch of Richard Craniums.
For me personally I never tired of the isometric formula and on the GBA and PC e.g. later games it has evolved into something quite special especially with added scroll.
Jetpac was my first ever computer game. Loved it back in 1982? and still remeber it fondly today
Yes! I think it still holds up for a quick blast even today.

Or copying tape to tape from your mates 👌👌😉😉
Agree that Cookie, Psst and Jetpac are amazing arcade games. They have something about them. Still play them today too 🎉
There's me thinking I'm on my own 🤣
@@ClassicReplay haha I thought the same. Cookie is an underrated classic. I also load them from tape for the full experience 🤣🤣🤣

Graphics don’t make a game - a lesson we still haven’t learned - brilliant mate
So true of the majority of todays games

It’s a very similar story for me. I was rubbish at most games until the arrival of the game pad. SNES controller or similar is what I use now.

Lovely video, thanks for your love
Always welcome
So funny you said the 'cat is out the bag now', just as I thought I know what number one is now haha
Glad you enjoyed it, I’m just reliving my childhood making these vids 🤣
Brilliant video,thanks for sharing

Only five minutes 😉🤣👍🏻

Agree!
Sabreman's last game was in Sabre Wulf on GBA. It wasn't like the original and more like a traditional platformer.
ZX Spectrum only mate 😉

Thanks mate! A lot of these games will run on a variety of emulators, mame being a good starter for 10

Say no more, that tells you everything
Critics and experts... Both equally misleading!
Gaming enthusiasts are the future 👍🏻
yeah, if you like this game you're just an 'isometric fanboy'

I hope you never put the loading sounds into your videos again. It is like nails on a blackboard.
Bleat, bleat, bleat. If it’s not one thing it’s another 😉
