The Delfonics were an American R&B/soul vocal group & were most popular in the late 60's & early 70's. Their most famous hits include "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)", "Break Your Promise", "I'm Sorry", "Ready or Not Here I Come (Can't Hide from Love)" etc. Their songs have been used in a lot of film soundtracks.

Same era and vibe of a lot of Motown, but these guys were out of Philly and were among the groups that defined the Philly Soul sound. Harold Melvin and the Blue notes, the O'Jays, and the Stylistics were also among the pioneers of that sound. Hall and Oates and Todd Rundgren also came out of that tradition, and you can often hear it in a lot of their music, often referred to as "blue-eyed soul". Another bit hit for these guys was "Didn't I Blow Your Mind this Time" - you'd love it.

This song was not written by Smokey Robinson. The song was written by the co-founder and lead singer of the Delfonics, the late William Hart. This song did peaked at the #4 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in 1968. By the way, this song is not connected to Motown Records.

@@brittreacts Hey Britt, just FYI, this is not Motown, it is, Philly Soul. For some more great Philly Soul, please react to the love song, *"Betcha By Golly, Wow",* by The Stylistics, which reached #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100, in 1972. Either use just the audio of the studio version, or if you want a visual to react to, they were on Soul Train, click on the thumbnail of the 5 members of the group standing on the Soul Train stage wearing gold suits. The video has 1M views and is on the channel, *gomessoul.* You'll love the song, and your momma will be proud of you for reacting to it, because I just know it has to be one of her favorites!

    Hey young Sis,
The Delfonics are one of the greatest soul groups of all time!
They’re not Motown! (You’ve probably been told this already) 😉
They’re from Philadelphia and this beautiful and Iconic song was written by the great Thom Bell and William Hart. (Lead vocalist of the Delfonics with that gorgeous falsetto)
I have had a love affair (one sided) with William Hart since 1969! 🥰
Sadly, both William and Thom transitioned in 2022! 😔
The Delfonics have recorded continuously from the 60’s, and their catalog is amazing!
Please listen to more of their great recordings (check out their performances on Soul Train and a program called “Soul”)
If you’re interested I would love to share some of my favorites with you!
Sharing the music keeps William’s memory alive!
    Blessings
    ❤️🙏🏽

This version is from a performance some three years later, and has original member Randy Cain replaced by Major Harris. The version you heard in Spike Lee's movie was also the original, so for even more amazement, check out the original.
