Lead singer William Hart wrote this song, inspired by his infant son. When William would hold him, his son would look at him and repeat la la la over and over again. He then said to his wife that "La La must mean I love you!" Co writing credit goes to his son. 😁
@@djromancehartjr much love man. I was listening to the Soul station on Sirius radio, now I've heard this song and Didn't I blow your mind several times but after realizing a lot of their songs were being played I said, let me see how this dude look singing like this. I saw this video and been listening to their music literally for about 5-6 months daily. My buddy who I get to help me on jobs heard me playing them again one evening and said, it's time to listen to some other groups huh...lol
@@cindyweir9645 I know right. in England it's still synonomous. The Three Degrees are like Honorary Daughters in England and alot of Philly Songs whether it's from The Kenny Gamble/Leon Huff Catalogue or just Philly Acts still are part of the Landscape. In fact everytime a Boyband Auditions they talk about how Boyz To Men influenced them, and when they serenaded a UK Talk Show Hostess with their version of "Open Arms' by Journey the poor woman almost lost it.
Omg , this song has me thinking about my mother and grandmother. Miss them both. The vocal harmonies, falsetto & dance steps are so classic and missing in todays music
music like this, makes this mid 50's man cry... so beautiful, meaningful... just the music is so touching and add in that great vocals and there you have it...
This Miss KSO is Philly Soul! Loved this great song back in 68, still do. Didn't I Blow Yr Mind this Time in 70 is equally as good. Definitely would make a good reaction.
One of my favourite songs of all time. It is so deep, so full of feel, vocals hitting the essence of the feel of love, honesty and burning, burning burning love!!
Good job KSO for featuring this beautiful song by the soulful group the Delfonics, love 💘 the different genres of music you comment and feature. The group is from Philadelphia and that is Philly soul. Another winner by the Delfonics is "DIDN'T I BLOW YOUR MIND THIS TIME."
One of the great early classics of Philadelphia soul. Everything Thom Bell touched turned into pure magic. Listen to his work with the Spinners in the early '70s, it's beautiful stuff.
Listen carefully as they are singing this song to me. It was falsely re-edited but they are actually signing Shella La La La La La La LOVING youuu. Btw I’m Shella 🤓😂
How can there be strife in the world while there is music and performances like this that still exist to touch us all and be shared and enjoyed commonly. I love your obvious wit and enjoy the beauty of your heartfelt expressions as you reacted to their performance. FYI: I am 70, (and) "white". It occurs to me, that at the time this music was new, there was so much of it happening that "we" all came to take it for granted, and expected nothing less from artists of the day. -- We who could barely tap our fingers in time with the music should have been more thoughtful as to what efforts and talents went into these presentations. I certainly cherish that music and how it makes me feel still, today!
Yes, you DO "get it"!!! And that's awesome! I'm very happy. Funny side note... Every moring I have my french roast w/ french vanilla cream.... I began refering to it as my "La La".... For all the exact same reasons you mention here about this song. :D
According to William Hart, the lead singer, his brother Wilbert is on the right side of the screen, he said the inspiration for the song came from his then infant child. He said instead of going da-da or ma-ma the child would say *_La-La-La-La._* Funny how inspiration can hit at any place and anytime. Smokey Robinson said he wrote *_I'll Try Something New_* at a baseball game when the manager was trying everything under the sun to win the game; putting guys on the mound who weren't even pitchers to try and throw strikes. He just kept trying *_something new._* (I like The Temptations Supremes version of this song best.)
It's a damn shame there is no more music like this anymore. This is one of my favorite songs of that era, as well as the Manhattan tune you reacted to. Great singers, great music that it is sad we don't hear anymore. Thank you for reacting to the music of my youth.
Hello my honey K.S.O.! Now! That's some feel good music, love The Delfonics!!! If you like that song you should check these songs from them... (Don't I Blow Your Mind This Time, Hey! Love, Break Your Promise and Ready or Not here I Come) You will be swaying and vibing with the music! You take care and keep on, keepin' on!!
This song was synonomous back in the Day. On their Debut Album "Diana Ross Presents The Jackson Five" they sang this Song. Another one of their Songs "Didn't I Blow Your Mind" was later performed by New Kids On The Block. Hall & Oates also performed "Didn't I Blow Your Mind" in Concert.
R.I.P. ~ lead singer William "Poogie" Hart who passed away July 14th, 2022 at age 77. He co-founded the group with his younger brother Wilbert and co-wrote most of the songs with the great "Philly Soul" producer Thom Bell.
WOW memories, days of endless summers here in Australia, beautiful days wonderful friends my beautiful girl in my arms slow dancing to great music..ty such a lovely song from a great group. The music today can't hold a candle to the days of the past. Keep Safe Keep Strong
Ok I know what it means since I’m OLD and I know a lot about back story’s of the music in my era🙂one of the members William Hart wrote this song after his toddler son would babble LA LA LA LA...he wrote the song that same day!! His son of course is now a dad himself! His dad probably tells his grandkids”HEY KIDS DID I EVER TELL YA I WROTE THIS SONG BECAUSE YOUR DAD KEPT BLABBERING LA LA LA WHEN HE WAS 1?” Yeah grandpa a billion times...🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤣🤣
The Sound Of Philadelphia! I can't remember if Joe Tarsia had opened the studio yet at 212 N. 12th Street, Philly (Sigma Sound) when this song (album) was recorded but anything that came out of that studio or the Cameo/Parkway studio on Broad Street was amazing. Another great Thom Bell production.
What an adorable Valentine's reaction. It's always a joy to see you taken by a first time experience of a song I've heard a hundred times. You always make me feel as if I'm hearing for the first time along with you. (And for more of the genre in your copious spare time check out: The Manhattans, The O'Jays, The Stylistics, The Spinners, The Main Ingredient, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Blue Magic, The Intruders -- or just ask for Philly Soul on your favorite streaming service)
Sadly - we just lost William Hart (lead singer of the Delfonics) on July 14, 2022. This is still one of the very best songs of the genre and will continue to withstand the test of time. RIP Mr Hart. Thanks KSO for reminding us of this gem. Love your genuine reaction too.
“Didn’t I Blow Your Mind This Time” should be next!
Break your Promise is another great Delfonics hit.
Loved it in Jackie Brown
But by Jimy Castor...You gotta check that brother out on this song...
Definitely, equally as good! Philly Soul at its best.
Trust me, her mind would be blown on that one!
Don't u wish music was being made like this today
I sure do. Miss talent. Real singing, dancing.
Lord have mercy.
Hmmm🤔Yes, Yes and Yes. Love Philly Soul! Didn't I Blow yr Mind this Time is equally as good! 1968 may be my favorite yr for music!!!!!
If I could makes wishes come true, I’d grant that in a heart heat!
I knew the Delfonics would blow your mind. Check out “Did’nt I Blow Your Mind This Time”

I bought this over 50 years ago timeless
Music I grew up with!
Love the 70s R&B. Stylistics, Chi Lites, Three Degrees, Gladys Knight and the Pips, O'Jays, anything Motown.

And Philly Soul is amazing!❤️

Four Tops , Temptations , Supremes

During the summer of 1968 this was my favorite song and at the time the Delfonics were my favorite group, they had multiple hits.
Delfonics always had the best moves with their songs. Always !!!!
One of the greatest love songs ever. I still get goose bumps when it starts.
I like how the song makes her blush…Makes my heart ❤️ melt if only music was like this today 😞
Loved this the first time I heard in 1968. Beautiful song. I still love it. So glad u reacted to this. Didn't I Blow yr Mind is also great.

Oh the memories. La La La 💯💯💯💘❤❤💖
I loved watching you react to this. Cute
Yep, it's the one I remembered. It's hard to think that it's an "old timey" song when you remember it like was yesterday.
