@@Mr.Jaquaveon2k Today they sell a look and could basically make anyone sound good with auto tune etc. but these singers from those days were soulful, connected.
The Delphonics are from Philadelphia, their whole Album is great. My favorite song is: Didn’t I Blow Your Mind This Time!” Darn, I can’t remember the lead singers name, gotta look it up, been so long. Thanks you two!👍💜💜
Jay & Amber, William "Poogie" Hart on lead vocals and he was the primary songwriter with songwriter/producer Thom Bell!! Thom Bell is in the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
It's great that you two love this 'Old" music as much as us Old people who grew up listening to it. It explains why we sometimes have a difficult time with todays music.
The Delfonics were a great band, tracks to check out by them are: "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)", "Hey! Love", "I'm Sorry", "Ready or Not Here I Come (Can't Hide From Love)", "Tell Me This Is a Dream", "Think It Over", "He Don't Really Love You", "Stop and Look", "I Don't Wanna Make You Wait", "When You Get Right Down To It".
Whilst I do like the Delfonics singing When You Get Right Down To It, I actually prefer the version by Ronnie Dyson, possibly because that was the one I heard more on radio here in the UK when I was growing up.
“Didn’t I blow your mind this time” is a must.I believe the lead singer has an actual vocal range where he doesn’t need to use a falsetto. Not exactly sure what that means . He passed away very recently. His brother is still living.
I love my rock and pop but I also love soul and R&B and this group and song is the perfect example. I actually get chills listening to the Delfonics, Stylistics and Chi-Lites just to name a few
You can NEVER go wrong with the Delphonics, Chi-lites, Stylistics, Dells. Prince made a very respectful cover of this song that is worthy of listening.
I met my wife while in high school, 1975. She was a Freshman (14) & I was Sophomore (15). I've been with her ever since. This is my song because it's a beautiful song, but more importantly, My wife's nick name is LaLa! Have it tattooed on my arm.
One of the TOP falsetto vocal groups of all time right here!!!!! Perfect. Check out their hit "Didn't I blow your mind this time." One of the best break up songs ever! Watch them do their thing on Soul Train. Philly soul gave Detroit's Motown a run for their money and it all made for beautiful music. Song begins with a French Horn/Electric Sitar/Xylophone combo! The great Thom Bell's Production. Brilliant!
The Stylistics were similar to the Delfonics (but with more hits). You reacted to one of their songs but I hope you check out more of their music. Perhaps starting with "You Make Me Feel Brand New."
@Derek-jl5nw You Make Me Feel Brand New was me and my then boyfriend's "song." I got to hear them play it live back in the day, at a place called Barney Google's on the upper east side of Manhattan. They turned it into a 10 minute song!
OoooWeee! One of my favorite groups from the early 70's! Please explore them some more!! Check out "Didn't I blow your mind this time" or "Trying to make a fool of me" or " I'm Sorry" OMG! Love the Delfonics!!
Good Pick guys! I love the Delfonics music, next song by the Delfonics you need to check out is Didn't I blow your mind. Or similar sounding songs that you guys should check out as well like The Moments with Love on a two way street, or Eddie Holiman with Hey There Lonely Girl.
The lead singer is the late William Hart and y'all have got to do more of the Delfonics songs Hey Love Ready or Not Trying to make a fool of me when you get right up to it Think it over Everytime I see my baby, and whatever songs you can find😊
This song "La-La Means I Love You" came out in (1968). And it brought the Philly sound to the world. The Delfonics along with the Stylistics, Blue Magic, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes with Teddy Pendergrass and the O'jays made "Philadelphia International Records" a world renown name in the music industry. Great reaction to one of the greatest groups in music history. Their music is featured in many movies the latest being Quenton Taratino's "Jackie Brown (1997)" with Samuel L. Jackson, Pam Grier and Robert Deniro.
I read recently that the writer/lead singer was holding his baby boy and his baby looked up at him and said "La La". He looked at his wife, smiled and said "La La means I Love You". And that how the song was born. Baby Talk! It never fails guys!! LOL

One of the greatest songs ever. This is categorized Philly Soul. William Hart was a great singer. I loved this beautiful song the first time I heard in 68, still do, timeless. Didn't I Blow Yr Mind This Time is equally as good out in 1970.

Oh, yeah. One of those fabulous guilty pleasures. Hart's voice is just beautiful and his diction is crystal clear. I was in High School about then and this song was requested from every DJ at every dance.
Oh my God this is one of my favorite songs of all time! I’m so happy to see you react to this! This song is nothing short of spectacular. Great pick! Great reaction! I read somewhere that when this song was written, the writer (one of the group members, I don’t remember which one) had a newly born son who use to sing, la, la, la in a baby voice tone. The writer said he is saying “I love you”. Hence the start of this song!
Yes Delfonics was always on AM radio during the 60s...what a background sound for a girl growing up in Queens...'Didn't I blow your mind' MUST be on your playlist...love you two so much😊
Thanks you for your words about Philly's contribution to Soul Music ~ you brought tears of joy to old man's eyes remembering those days when local labels tapped into a goldmine of talent ~ Walnut Street Sounds were heard everywhere ~ Delfonics was only one of manySoul Groups that made AM radio great & generating instant sing alongs on corners all over that made it fun growing up in Philly
Back when I was a teenager, this was one of the songs we slow danced to. (Nothing like being held by your sweetheart to this song!) No offence to the music you have today, but we really had the BEST! Love watching you guys. Have a great Christmas.

Delfonics and The Stylistics. Two groups you can never go wrong with.
And the Chi-Lites!
I don't think they have reacted to I'm Stone in Love with You by The Stylistics yet. Heard it the other day.
Two of Philly’s greatest.
Don’t forget Eddie Holman. “Lonely “Girl. Big time falsetto

Love that song!
I'm suddenly in the mood to play, "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time (Didn't I) by this group.💁🏾
For me, I prefer the Philly Sound over Motown. Both are great, but if I had to choose, it’s Philly.

"Hey Love" is The Dramatics.

Love watching you guys. Have a great Christmas.
You need to see the video.. They are amazing.I was born in 1955, and i got to hear all of the good music from back in the day. This is one of favorite love songs.
Some of their other jams - When You Get Right Down To It, Break Your Promise and Ready Or Not.
I like the Delfonics, The Moments, and The Spinners. Love The Spinners Love Don't Love Nobody. These are great soul singers back in the day.
Philly proud….luv the Delfonics harmonies!
