This is my favorite ConFunkShun song. He sings this so passionately because it's based on a true story about the lead singer and another member of the group, dating the same woman.

Amber you figured it out. Two of the band members was seeing the same girl and didn’t know. Once he found out that way it’s so much passion Micheal Cooper is lead singer.

The story is he really did get caught in a love triangle and the one that got the girl was a member of the band! That explains the passion that he's singing with. They briefly described it on their UNSUNG episode. Michael Cooper is the lead singer on this one. He didn't get the girl, but it inspired him to write this smash hit! I think it worked out for everyone.

Funk Fest at Soldier Field in Chicago and they CLOWNED! I might be wrong, but I think Felton Pilate--who was a multi instrumentalist and vocalist--sang lead on a song called "Make it Last". He was a falsetto singer, and he brought the house down! He held a falsetto note for about 45 seconds!!!!! PLEASE react to this song, you will LOVE it!!!!!

A Big Yes to "Funkin' For Jamaica 👍. I and others have suggested that many times in the past. Well all of your suggestions they are all great. Con Funk Shun. This was one of my favorite groups back in the day, but this particular song is about Michael Cooper, the lead singer and Felton Pilot. This is a true story. They were seeing the same woman. They did an episode on unsung about them So what what they're singing in this song which is Michael Cooper. This really did happen and then there's a live version of this song. Many years later where Michael Cooper says in the song. She calls him up and he tells the year of when she actually did call him up. I'm glad you did this song. You got to do chase me by them. They have so many good songs. I would like to make a suggestion. There's a songs little different. It's by Curtis Mayfield and the name of the song is "Back To The World" This is a really good song. The words are very very deep. The song came out in 1973

Con Funk Shun is my favorite R&B/Funk band and they’ve put together an amazing music catalog spanning from the early 1970s to today. Yes, they’re still making music & performing live even though there’s just 3 of the original 7 founding members still with the band. Fortunately, their 2 phenomenal main song writers and amazing lead vocalists are still with the group, Michael Cooper & Felton Pilate. Con Funk Shun has a wide range of great songs from slow to upbeat to funk, etc. and in my opinion they are one of the most talented & unfortunately, underrated bands of all time even though they’ve been very successful throughout their careers. This says a lot about how great their music really is and their band is an excellent example of how incredible R&B bands & music really was in the 1970s and 1980s when groups wrote, composed, & performed their own music!

That was the "quiet storm" side of ConFunkShun; next, you should try their biggest hit, "Ffun" (two F's, not a typo), an uptempo funk tune with a nice brass line. BTW, next time you get to Sly & the Family Stone, give a listen to "Family Affair," their last #1 hit. It's a low-key, crafty little funk number that represents Sly at his "sly" best.

This group's name made me think of the 1970s funk band Brass Construction. I had to make a detour to playing their two great hit songs Changin' and Movin' before coming back to this Con Funk Shun song. I know Amber likes horn sections and that's where their name comes from.

Yes, ConFunkShun was formed in Cali, but they relocated to Memphis TN in 1973 and got with Stax Records. That why we Memphians call this group Memphis’ own.

This song has some solid funk in the bass guitar and kick drum action, but gives me a serious rythm & blues vibe. Those vocals!

They were the backup band to the Soul Children on Stax Label when they left Cali for Memphis. They were influenced by Sly and James but their sound was nothing like Sly or James. Michael Cooper was the lead singer. He went solo in the mid 80's.

I'm a Minneapolis native and have seen Prince perform many times including at his Glam Slam Nightclub in the 1990s! I've also seen other group including: The Time, Vanity 6, Mazarati (A local Funk/Rock band that hit the national scene for a short time) the Deele, George Clinton/Parliament/Funkadelic, Shalamar, Patric Rushen.

As good as this was, I think you'd like their heavy funk stuff better. Try "Ffun" and "Shake and Dance With Me," both from 1978, and "Chase Me" from 1979.

This is my favorite song by Confunkshun. The lead singer here is Michael Cooper. He had a good solo career in the late 80s/early 90s. I suggest reaction to his "My Baby's House" and "Dinner For Two". Cooper has a unique voice. Very underrated voice.

YES! One of the ALL-TIME GREAT R&B love songs. This particular song, though never released as a single is still one of the group's signature songs. They have to perform this song in concert! The lead singers name is MICHAEL COOPER, and his passion comes from being the odd man out in a love triangle, including himself, FELTON PILATE, and a young woman. The interesting thing is the song originally had different lyrics written BY PILATE, but those lyrics got voted out for the current lyrics, which were written by COOPER detailing the situation. You guys should have done the live performance on SOUL TRAIN! Great Video! Great Reaction! 👍
