Now build a custom prebuilt PC that looks like from inside a prebuilt gaming PC with OEM parts, but on the outside will look like a nice RGB gaming PC. I'd like to see that.
That's what SIs through Amazon and eBay are doing... they'll use stock coolers on Intel or AMD chips, they'll use cheapest GPU's, they'll use the no namest brand RAM, sketchiest psu ever, but oh, you bet it looks good on the outside with the 4-6 included RGB fans and the rgb light strips. They know how to attract people that have no knowledge, but see 'pretty' as 'quality'.
I've been doing the exact same thing with (coincidentally, also) an Acer PC from 2007, this video was very helpful in overcoming a few of the hurdles of proprietary component sizes.
Idk about others but my nitro 50 (the new model not this one) is very well cable managed, looks nice and is setup properly. Props to whoever built mine because its amazing
Thanks for the review. I have an older model: ACER Nitro N50-600G-EW11 Gaming Desktop, Core i5-8400, GTX 1050, 12GB RAM, 1TB. I have added a small SSD drive to help with the speed. I have tried to replace existing ZOTAC GTX 1050 with first a MSI GTX 1060 which resulted in a no signal to the monitor. Thinking the GPU to be faulty. I returned it. An ordered an Sapphire Pulse RX580. With the same problem. No signal to monitor. Here are the steps I followed for install: Use DDU to uninstall existing Drivers. Powered down, drain power from unit. Place new RX580 in unit. RX580 fans spins. The Acer will go through 2 false starts before powering up. Monitor will show no signal. Tried with 2 different hdmi cables and 3 different monitors no luck. Tried taking out CMOs and Ram sticks. But no luck. Currently back using original 1050. Any ideas what I've been doing wrong? Appreciate it!
Gamers Nexus did extensive testing on AIO placement and having it oriented that way will reduce radiator noise hahah. That orientation makes it so it doesn't make that "trickle" noise.
I got mine about 2 years ago. Added a 500wat power supple. And a GTX Nvidia 1660 upgrade from the 1650. Had to leave the side panel off so it don't over heat. But I love it.
That’s the nicest MODDING i’ve ever seen. Let’s be honest, because this Acer case is kindda nice. Others do sleepers in retro 90’s white yellowish plastic cases look mess for me :D
5:06 that vrm is way better than any cheap mobo s vrm because it can easyli can run a locked i5 or i7 i have in the past 3 phase mobo with core 2 quad cpu wich is 95 w and it handled it easyli with +0.8ghz . Very nice video and quality keep it up Dawid.
Thank you for the video! I had so much stress because I couldn’t get my old power supply out of the chassis, and thanks to you I can finally change it to a new one. You sir have saved both my pc, and my nerves :D
Nice video dude.. From someone that has upgraded, rebuilt a lot of OEM PC's over the years. I feel your power button pain. Happens almost every time! Bloody front panel.connectors.
I love this. I am working on a similar build actually, but mine is turning out to be way more difficult, because it much smaller than yours and I want it to be even a bit more powerful. But I just love that little Dell Optiplex sff.
Just bought a prebuilt at a fair price/specs but i kinda regret it. I like how you talk in depth about prebuilts and how you explain it all. I really enjoy ur videos keep it up! ✌
that is the proper placement for the aio in the front of a chassis, if it where the other way around it can suck up air bubbles that are meant to stay in the radiator. or it will just sound like a fountain.
I LOVE the community reference!! I watched the show like 5 times it was so AWESOME! Also, one of the main reasons I watch this channel is because of the analogies (like if agree). Keep doing what you do!
Fun fact, those SATA CD drive cables aren't proprietary, and are in fact standard! It's a 5v-only mini-SATA power plug specifically for these CD drives. Fun video. I've always been enamored by the idea of sleeper PCs, and one of these days I'm going to build one...
IDK why anyone would ever use wifi in a desktop. Seriously Dawid. This build reminds me of the old Dell alienware cases. Some decent hardware, but all covered in extraneous plastic.
I'm weirdly hyped everytime there's a video about this PC, since I have an acer predator myself. I'm so happy you upgraded it, or should i say, "extreme-relook" it
that power button wire is easy to fix, just take sewing needle or saftey pin and and jiggle out the wires then attach an extra length of wires and re stuff them. i did the same with my chassis fan point as i rigged a 90mm amd cpu fan as a chassis fan sharing the same connector with my 120mm chassis fan and connected on one chassis fan connector on my motherboard.
You could install your own power button to the back of the case with a simple 2 wire push button. Just drill a hole out in the back metal and thread the button on to it.
If you had added a 92/80mm exhaust fan to help move some of that hot air, would have improved temps even if only by 2-5c. Personal opinion, I think extra airflow is always good, if possible.
That looks incredible Dawid! Great work! If I may make one mod suggestion. Cut out some vents in the bottom and install some feet at the bottom to help the gpu get some air.
Dude... 1. Take the front panel off and run an rgb strip down the middle. Some nice light will pass through the red vents on the front panel. 2. Cut a square out of the side panel and put a plexiglass window in it. 3. Run a second rgb strip inside, along the top of the case to get some illumination going inside. 4. Cheap rgb fan at the back of the case to finish off the look (since there are some heathens out there that dont like the rgb puke look). Then turn all the lights to red to match the theme of the case and BOOM! that'll be a good looking little thing. Plus if you tint the window you wont even notice that the inside of the case is silver.
There is actually a guide on Acer's webesite telling you how to remove the front panel. I just googled it. 👍 In regards to the PSU, you have to push that clip on the back of the case down and the top of the case up to pull it out.
To me, that looks exactly like a LAPTOP dvd burner, with the standard laptop "slimline sata" connector. Wonder if they even make desktop dvd burners anymore. My laptop from a few years ago has a burner, so I guess there is still a place for them? I do use it sometimes haha.
you could Reverse the two rad fans, and add that rear 92mm as intake, pulling the heat off the card, and throwing it all out the front, preventing heatsoak, -sleeper pc fan/builder please try and give us an update!!
You should make a hole at the bottom of the case and add standoffs to the case for the GPU to breathe somewhat. Also a exhaust fan would help with the temperatures a little bit
Could we get your best attempt at improving air flow and the case visuals? I know you said you wanna put this build away for good but you truely got a pretty nice unique build going and with TLC you could probably sell the finished product to make some side cash? Picture it! Maybe some case stands to lift it up a inch or so? A bottom cut out and a dust filter to spruce up the GPU area a bit. Maybe a fresh coat of paint on the shiny bland silver metal? Cut some bits from the front plate and get some airflow going for the AIO? I'm just saying I'd love to see you continue this sleeper and make it into that Skynet T-1000 it's dreaming of becoming.
usually when i have a cable that wont reach somewhere what I'll do is cut off about 2 or 3 inches from the plug and get some regular 16 gauge wire to extend the existing wires. You could do what I do and solder the connections for a more solid hold or you could just do it the old school DIY way and twist them together. You avoid having to buy an adapter and keep more or less the same look and functionality of the original cable.
Cool mod. This is the exact same case and motherboard as the Acer Aspire TC-885 except it has a different front plastic piece and they soldered on the other two ram slots on this one.
The Acer nitro 50 is bad temps but if you put msi after burner on max for gpu it stays normal and the Acer fan cpu they give u you can put that at 100 percent and to upgrade ram is a bit complicated you have to download cpu-z and you have check the exact ram and buy that same one and it will auto put speed at 2666mhz.
Man this is how i fit my 240 Liquid Freezer in my 30 Bucks Sharkoon Case. :D It was my first Gaming Pc and so little space.^^ But i was so nice to make it fit. :D
you know Dawid I happen to be halfway through a very similar project but with a 5/6 Year old MSI Nightblade MI barebones only im stuffing a 3900X into it woon, wish me luck!
You know? a couple more coolers and some artistic nice cuts in the front plastic face to create a bunch of vents could've solve the heating problems, afterall what that needed was air cuz the poor thing was choking,so more vents (homemade ones) and more coolers to actually help running the air through the case and that would've been good to go,tho to be fair considering the amount of time and money needed for that to be completed one can simply get a better case put everything you had there in the said new cas and call it a day in about half a day at most =)))))))))))

An exhaust fan will help pull heat away from the VRM and possibly the GPU since it'll pull in air through the vented side.

Why not add a rear fan? Or cutout the bottom for a slim fan to get at least some air moving?
I wanted to add a fan but unfortunately didn't have the correct size. 👍
