After washing my hands after the rat manure cleaning, I would replace the original straight steering column with a compatible safety power steering system from GM.(mechanical parts always fit Chevys of different years) Then, reinforce the cabin, floor, doors and roof to today's crash protection standards. Find a chassis, a running engine and transmission, and interiors. The rest is a long work to bring that 1957 Bel Air classic to showroom condition. Don't forget to add seat belts and install front disc brakes with a brand new power brakes AC booster and double master cylinder and new brake lines and parts. A drivable safety equipped classic is worth the the spending for long lasting miles trips. Good luck. Thanks.
My thing is to very minimally restore only to it's true "old car" state, see it has lived these 60+ years, its real wear and rough tear and neglect but now the tough old girl is running again ok to drive, new drum brakes, hoses everywhere, seals, gaskets, engine flush a few times, hope it's a manual trans, even leave old outside oil layer, keep it real used bias ply tires. You're good too, lots love to these.
Going from Yaleah driving the Red Ram to Tylynn driving the farm Chevy... Autumn doesn't have a truck yet???? I guess I'm not surprised that Tylynn jumped into that truck, though...seems to fit her! Rock stars ...all those beautiful young ladies!!! Gonna be pricey trying to restore that 57 to anything near "showroom" like most folks would want. I'd be very concerned about hidden problems!! Good luck no matter what you do!! Take care, be safe and God bless!
Ahhh Man... The dreaded CLIFF HANGER!!! I imagine that restoring an old car where pretty much everything needs to be replaced is a heck of a challenge. It will be interesting to find out what your idea is. But I'll tell you what the most entertaining part of this particular video was. (even better than Chad's wind tunnel face) Ty-Hulk Hogan-Lynn is just too cool for shoes. That young lady is a pure Bad A'$$ all the way. Even though Chad was conspicuously absent during the tow segment. My disbelief has been suspended until further notice. Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I
😂 didn’t you hear me talking behind the camera? When Tylynn plays with the farm truck our other two camera girls have to be way out of the scene! Mommas orders! And to be completely honest the big farm truck ran out of gas right at the tow scene and I had to tow the farm truck as it was towing the 57 using our Jeep! 😆 Our kids all have been driving since they could walk.
well i have to admit i think yall made the right choice with that car 30+ grand just for parts is a lot of money of money to spend on a vehicle that wouldnt have a real practical use
I was lucky on my 58 Bel Air. All the original trim was in great shape, only he carpet and back seat cushion was shot. The Engine fired up and it drove. It cost $4,000. I replaced shocks, few engine components like starter, break master cylinder and carburetor. I saved money doing it all myself. It's a shame this one was in such bad shape.
Where are you guys from I seen in one of your other videos someone had a hoodie on of the u.p. of Michigan so I was just wondering if that's where your from and if so where at up there
You won't really know until you tear into it more. A lot of it can be repaired with patch panels but I agree the floor will need a full replacement and probably the trunk. The inner quarters are shot those are expensive. The cheapest way is build a gasser.
I have a owner selling me one for $500 should I buy? The inside caught on fire so everything inside is done for but the body is i good condition any suggestions?
@@G.A.N.G101 yeah but after asking more questions there’s no title to it and speaking to a few mechanics that specialist in oldies they all said the same “that’s going to be a expensive project , especially the wiring “ so it kind of popped my bubble
I'm seeing a rat rod build in the making. Even tho a full restore would be cool too, that'd be a big chunk of cash and many hours / months put into one project. Can't wait to see what the plan is .. in the next video. 🤣😁
@@G.A.N.G101 it probably will but the frame being totally shot is a big bummer. But anything can be fixed . I think I know what's in store for that. 😁 it will definitely be cool.
What a shame at first glance it appeared to be a good car You are correct for a decent shop to do a quality job of restoring it you’re looking at 💯k at least . When you can still buy a pretty nice one done for $40 to $ 50k
Either play with it or stick it on ebay for yard art. You might make some cash for another project. Personally I'd be yard arting it/ very cool channel mascot. Jake
Yeah mate, I saw the teaser. Very intrigued! Ha ha. But please look after yourself too. We are so happy for you and the family that you are safe n sound, and in a better place. Luv your neighbours too. It will go well mate, pace yourself. I see other channels that it takes 14 years to establish the homestead- so it helps me see I've done a lot in a year. Catch you soon man. Jesus is comin' . Ps- I saw 2 days ago the opening ceremony to the commonwealth games 22'. if you haven't seen that- take a look on youtube. I was shocked. J
why would you restore that car. put an engine and trans and brakes in it and drive it like it is. its nothing special to justify spending 40k or more to have a 57 chevy
How bad does one have to be before it’s not worth fixing. When you start with a turd and you spend a lot of money fixing it up you end up with a very expensive turd. That’s a hard turd to swallow.
Id bondo-glass those rust holes... remove most of the chrome trim myself, off to Maaco Paint for $2000 paint job, (then re-assemble) stick with a small block V8, AT.. All in Id be under $10,000. Cruise it for 6 months and filp it to the next guy for $16,000 plus... Making $6,000 profit plus. Will it ever be a show car.. NO... Will I keep it for more than the time it takes for that rust to come through that Maaco paint job. NOPE... Do I care. Nope... I will have flipped 6 other cars by the time you're dont with this one.. and you're be upside down by over $20,000... The economy will not support these big dollar restore jobs anymore. Its OVER...
That is a lot for restoration, but the payoff would be super grand. You'd be looking at around $400k for pristine. Are you sure y'all wanna turn it into something fun? 🤣
@Justin Chism - 😂 True that they are just starting and haven’t made a brand out of it yet, but I’ve never been wrong when it comes to this. I have a natural eye for it. That said, name or no name any collector will recognize good work when they see it and just like rookie baseball cards they’ll take a risk for a well done classic going up in value exponentially with the build of the brand. They buy. Sit on the car for two to five years and wait for the name to build. Just food for thought. 😉
Hey Paulla- you are a cool chicky babe- maybe RUclips can sponsor Chad to do a full resto for you- because a lot of people have been blessed by your luv. Can see you cruising to church in her!!ruclips.net/video/W90zZfI9Fgs/видео.html
🔥🔥🔥 Chevy has beautiful colours
Worth in no matter the cost so pretty.
I'd love one of these, my all time favourite car.
Great breakdown of the facts and finance. Waiting for your surprise😇.
Thanks Johnny! Have a great day!
Good video , have a great day , thanks for sharing , God bless

So totally cool. what a great neighbor you have in Joe eh?
He's a lucky guy isn't he??

Hi Jim! Autumn has her eyes set on this ugly 67 Pontiac Ventura we have! 😆
Awesome!!! Go for it Autumn!!! Make sure you ask for a 455 Ram Air in it too!!!😁👍

I really thought being a car sign this car would be cleaner underneath? I'm in Oklahoma and tri 5 frames seldom look like that. Where are you?
Upper peninsula of Michigan. It was rusty before it got up there more than likely and just kept rusting
Nice Dodge. And that's a shame about that 57 Chevy she doesn't really look that bad from a distance. That Dodge is tough as xxxx though.
Are you talking about the dodge at the end of the video?

Always use a mask when cleaning where mice have been. It could save your life.
Are considered to sell the 1957 Chevy
No
One year ago, and no update on what was done with this 57.
Will a Suburban frame fit under it? dun dun dun....
I have 57 daily driver. It wouldn’t be that much to restore for parts
I would slam a 53 LS in it and drive it
That would be nice but the frame is toast along with much more of the structural supports.
I’m still waiting for model T video?
A new model t video? Our first video was on the model t. If you scroll all the way down its the first one we did
That’s a shame ,just a good year

That all depends on the specific person and if they have a significant love for that particular turd.. 😂
I'll come pick it up for $2500. Let me know
We're heavily invested in this turd

That would be doable if it had any sort of frame under it
so this NEVER GOT DONE???
