Have to make sure you screw into the bottom cord of those trusses. I was thinking about screwing in 1/2” osb to bottom cord of trusses after they’re in layout. Then quickly screw the corrugated metal sheets to the OSB, more rigidity. But raises cost. That building should nice and warm. 👍 Good job guys.

Its hard to imposible to replace a sheet of side steel if it is directly sprayed. Not that it would ever get run into and bent. Dont ask how i know

Why not hang the foam board outside of the post and beam ,overlaid with the metal siding....longer fasteners are worth the results....

Cost aside spray foam is probably the best type of insulation to use . Until you have to make a wall or roof repair , and wood or metal panels need replacing . What will it cost to have a spray foam installer come back to spray a small area ? I know they have those kits you can use , but I think the way you guys did it is the way I would go too .

I am confused. At about 4:15 in the video, you talk about using spray foam would hide a roof leak until there is enough erosion that would cause a catastrophic failure. Since you are using closed cell spray foam which would not soak up the water allowing it to sit there compared to open cell spray foam which would absorb it in comparison, but neither would really cause you enough erosion for a catastrophic failure if you are using a proper metal in your metal building/roofing. That is more of a wood issue than it is a metal issue.

I have run a couple of refrigerators and our house's heat pump (soft start installed on it) in air conditionig mode with the 9500. It would never have run the heat pump without the soft start because in has an lock rotor current of roughly 90A, and the soft start gets it down to 18A. I will be getting a second one to run in parallel--we have an all-electric home.

Don't know where you getting your prices but one single foam board 4x8 ft 3 inches thick costs over $100 bucks so it would be astronomical to cover that shop area. I keep hearing it's so cheap and been looking everywhere online and home depot and I don't know how or why anyone would even consider or afford a shack, let alone a house.

Im trying to decide what to go with for my future project. It will be an 80x60x20, but it needs extremely good sound proofing / absorption for all walls, including interior walls. I'm trying not to overspend, but I need an stc rating of 50 minimum, and even higher would be great, lol. I suspect this will cost a fortune, though.

1:50 $2500 of foam vs $16,000 of spray foam is not 16% less. so whats the actual cost you were paying? its stupid youtubes like these that make me hate timewasting BS videos like this

This was 2 years ago. Prices have changed alot. Spray foam is still outrageously expensive here. It's very rural and travel times are long for anyone to do it. The foam board is 16% of the cost of the spray foam if you could do math. Theres maybr another hundred dollars in cans of foam and screws. Stupid comments like yours give me life force so keep it up.

I contracted closed cell spray foam on my 40x60 barn. Gables and ceiling (open truss) was sprayed with 2 inch closed cell. I had them spray 1.5 inch on the walls. They also painted the ceiling with fire retardant spray. They also painted the trusses flat black to match the ceiling. Total price was $15,000. It is awesome. I do have a HVAC system but only use it 1-2 hours a day when I’m working out, playing pool or watching games. I plan on adding 2 x EG-4 DIY solar minisplits. These would run off solar only but have the option to draw power from the grid when desired. I would let them run nonstop during the day from sun power. To save electricity I heat it with a fireplace in the Tennessee winter. I get the temp almost 70 degrees on cold days. Here is a huge advantage I found with spray foam. I run one 100 pint Dehumidifier with pump I bought from Lowes. It keeps the humidity around 50%! I suspect it can do this since the barn is sealed like a cooler. Leaks! You made a good point. However since the closed cell sprayed is painted flat black I was able to see where the roof was leaking. I would see white stains penetrating through. My son jumped on the roof and I talked him over to the spot. He found loose screws and tightened them up. I believe we found about 5-7 leaks. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

And chargers. Wires didn't even heat up worked great. I was thinking of upgrading to one of these but I think I'll keep mine. Upgrading to something better.

Well you're wrong about the leaks and spray foam.. the foam adheres to the metal so it's not going anywhere. And what's with that foam adheres to that metal. You'll never be able to pull it off..
