upgrade to the tamron if you can, well worth the money with f/2.8 and the range is good for all purpose

Absolutely. If you have the tamron there's no need for a kit lens. I am thinking of getting the Sony 20mm f/1.8

That difference becomes more obvious when you have more distant backgrounds . In the medium shots and close-ups it is almost not noticeable.

Naa i was gonna upgrade from Sony to tamron but now is it really an upgrade? I’ll just stick with my kit lens is still great.
Not a huge difference between an RM890 lens and RM3700 lens. Hmmmm....
Usually I would say RUclips is not the best place to be judging image quality but what ever is happening, my old inexperienced eyes were picking out the Sony footage as superior on every example for things I require. The Tamron in comparison seemed soft and that's what I'm trying to stay away from for my kind of subjects.
Kit is performing way better than tamron in every aspect. It also has oss as a bonus. Tamron would make more sense in low light.
