- After qualifying through the heats, this video shows my view of the Folding bike final. 40 of the fastest competitors started with a 100 meter run to our folded bikes, we had to unfold and then sprint for 6 laps. Unfortunately for me my chain dropped off with less than a lap to go... Awesome fun though, the crowd were amazing & the course was nice & challenging, although fairly rough! (especially for 16" Brompton wheels) Bring on the Brompton World champs in London on the 1st August :-)
Thanks for watching.

Those barrier posts jutting out from the sides were making me anxious, especially how close they came on some of those corners! That race was intense! 😬😬
Awesome! Thank you for allowing me to experience what it is like to race on a Brompton ☺
i am so surprise.. this bike is really fast!!! great video... and this had encourage me to get one
Dude...You're not a winner in tournament...but you're winning the content..great video !
Thank you 🙏
7:07 Ah! Breathless! You are a Good Racer Joe!
Camera worked fantastic! Sorry about your chain, the race had me on the edge of my seat! Next year!!
LD800 Oh, did they have other bike races on the course too? Just thought it's a lot of work for just one type of bike!
LD800 Yeah there were plenty of other bike categories from penny farthings to proffesional team Sky tour riders on regular road bikes. If you search "Jupiter Nocturne" you will see what I mean. Great spectacle and race, cant wait for next year :-) Cheers
6:45 -> 6:54 gave me chills wow what a riders
7:04 man you are one hell of a rider, hats off!
MAN... I felt like I was racing lol.. I was cheering for you! great camera angle
Brilliant video, thanks for sharing - we were standing just by the traffic lights when your chain dropped off - felt for you!
stu227 Cheers man, just as things were really starting to heat up.... Next year!
Wow! ..... There was a moment there where I thought that you and 543 were going to mash it up on a corner! Nice vid!
I can't wait for my bike to arrive now, it's not a Brompton but it's still a folding bike and after watching this video I really want a join a race with other folding bikes now, It's looks like a lot of fun! Great camera angle by the way I honestly felt like I was the one racing with so much adrenaline, sucks that your chain got loose at such an important part of the race, o well better luck next time :)
Gripping! I felt my heart sink with the derailing. Still, just gripping stuff! Didn't know you could go fast on these things. lol
You have to pump a bit harder on the uphill, but on the down hill the super light bike is soooo nice.
Me too ... was rooting for you all the way. Too bad for the dropped chain
jolly good video man! Brompton bicycles are classic and awesome!
+Gary Patag Thanks Gary! Have you seen my latest Brompton video, I slimmed Alpe d'huez on one last week, don't ask why haha
+Joe Achilles not yet. still viewing other folding bike videos. planning to buy one so I can take it inside malls. might go for giant expressway2. bromptons are expensive in the Philippines.
It was a great run bro and it really sucks that your chain came off while in the most important part of the event... awesome video.
That race looked fun. You were doing well until the chain fell off. I was hoping you beat the guy in the gray shirt. He blocked you most of the race.
I don't even know you but I was shouting " go go go go go!" on my screen hahaha
What a pity!!!! Your race was very strong!!! Good luci in the next time
Great video man! Shame about your chain, you were flying!
Christian Vila Cheers man, glad I caught it all on video :-)
"Hardcore Henry" rides a Brompton, brilliant :)
Whata a bloody ride, brother!!
+tcdp Cheers man!
Looks like fun but at the same time pretty scary. Great job there till the chain...
OMG u r hero and deserve to be in top 5 but good luck next race.
Amazing. Sorry about the chain. Thanks.

grabcad.com/library/tilting-cargo-trike-consept-2-1
amazing compatition
Chico, no se que te pasó, pedaleabas muy bien, buena situación en la salida, estuviste luchando por los primeros puestos, y terminaste el último.......
What bike is that are you using? I ain't buying that. =)
But I must say, you are flying. =)
Tito Paz Its a Brompton. I stupidly removed the chain guard to save a few grams of weight, removing this meant my chain could come off easier... I won't do that next year.
that race race left us breathless. =) I used to be a road bike rider. I stopped for more than a decade for personal reasons. But now I am looking forward to having my own folding bike this third quarter. And probably have some fun as you all do there =) best health be upon you all and your family.
what handlebar and grips do you have? the bike is "M" model? do you have other mods ? thank you, nice ride !
+George Ursache The bars are - Deity Components Villain 3's, the give me a great position on my M type Brompton, lower than the regular bar but higher than a S type set up. The grips are actually spares from my Saracen mountain bike, basically standard lock on mountain bike grips. Cheers man
and where you using modern clipless pedals? I just bought my first folder.
nice race .. what's your ave speed on this one bro?
What place where you in when you change your dropped? And how many speeds is your bike
Awesome race. Suck a bummer. But awesome riding.
KMC GOLD Chain!
You're speeding. It says "20" on the floor!
That course is really narrow, I don't think I be able to do that
nice and funny rice man...
congratulations from Mexico
+josue garlic Cheers man, can you send us some sunshine please... :-)
+Joe Achilles sure, just let me where... :D
Hahahaha London would be perfect! In fact today is nice, we have had 2 days of no rain in 2016 so far.... :-(
+Joe Achilles London... it's so far, but I'll try.
some day I'll be there.
I enjoy too much watching your rice in a folding bike.
some months ago I bought a folding bike, but in mexico, where I live, in the border with Texas it's not common use of this kind of bike...
+josue garnica glad to hear man! Yeah I love my Brompton, it's perfect for getting around town... Well give me a shout when you make it to London one day 👍
One thing I have always wondered how do you guys with folding bike get new innner tube and tyre replacements I was considering getting one for the commute but could not find spares online
+REGGIE JAX where do you live? Every bike shop in London has Brompton 16 x 1 3/8 tubes, also hundreds of places online sell them
What happens if you bring something like a montague to a race like this?
redrabbit214 I think its fine, check www.londonnocturne.com for next years race
Joe Achilles But doesn't that give that person an advantage over the majority of people in the race since that person would have a full sized bike whilst the majority of others would have the smaller, traditional folding bikes?
keeping those racing lines in check
Can you use any folding bike or is it Brompton specific race?
which model is the one your riding and how many gears? what speed were you doing - seems quite fast?
Looks to be the 6 speed M handle
Are they riding 20 inch folding bike?
6th of June, the middle of summer, so the melting tar on the road must have been an issue. No, not so much.
awesome!
love it
@joeachilles, what type of handle bar you got there? Nice fit!
+Manny Francisco Cheers man, the bar is a - Deity Components Villain 3
Alright! I'll be getting a brompton soon, If ever i feel like changing my handle bar I know now what to replace it with! Thanks for the info!
+Joe Achilles did you have to replace the cables at all with the new handles ..
No I didn't thankfully :-)
Breathtaking!! How fast did you go on flat segments?
Cheers man, I don't actually know but estimate 30-34mph because I was spinning out a high ratio 6 speed Brompton.
You cant be going 30-34 I cant even go that speed down hill on my roadbike
wow.....that was wicked bro....... you are cruising....... absolutely stellar......
which brommie was that ? i did see 6 grs but seems like a custom made handle bar ? is it ?
m type ?
Would "Montague Fit" folding bike qualify for this type of race?
Faisal Husain Hi, yes I believe any folding bike qualifies for this race. Check out www.londonnocturne.com for next years race :-)
Many thanks
How do you last on those tiny bikes? My legs start to cramp after twenty minutes.
Leg rotation/extension is exactly the same as larger bikes, you must have your seat too low maybe?
Great footage! Very good video well done! I've just uploaded one about this event too, you're welcome to come and see it! Best, Fab
anything like this in america?
peter morales yeah Brompton always have an annual race in the States
Joe Achilles does dahon do anything like this?
Little Aiya is currently learning how to ride. Hopefully she will have a bike like this when she grows old.
