    ‘She’s a maniac, maniac etc’ - I think Pot Kettle Black might be accurate too! When you first set off leading I thought ‘Whoa, where’s the fire?!’.
    Mucho respect for your riding skills… too fast for me! Good to see you back.

    The butter tubs are deep caves on the side of the road, you drove past them, you can stand next to them and look down, quite dangerous but worth a look

  • @norriemasson4080
    @norriemasson4080 2 года назад +2

    6.54 is where the actual caves are Kate. Beautiful part of the country and some great roads on the GS, great to see you out on it.
    Where you saw the gravel track you said about taking the GS down there I believe is the road to Ravenseat farm (The Yorkshire Shepherdess)

  • @jimjoelliejack
    @jimjoelliejack 2 года назад +1

    Hi Kate, I live up there, the buttertubs are limestone sinkholes, they are called So because local farmer many years ago used to store butter and dairy products down there to keep them fresh, it’s kept cool by the spray off the waterfalls. I’m so lucky having this on my doorstep. North Yorkshire has miles of off road tracks as well.

    Them roads look better than that Mortimer Road, after watching that video I took a ride up there. Very nearly ended in disaster, uphill hairpin nearly had me dropping bike. But there was some nice views. Buttertubs is a bit far I think for me on a day trip. Keep up with the cracking content 👍

    Nice one Kate. Just a shame that you didn't get a pic. of the actual 'buttertubs' massive holes in the ground, which were just on your left about two hundred yards away from when you 1st went to the front. Ain't they just the best roads around that area? Not particularly fast but, reasonable good with fabulous views. Another entertaining vlog, keep up the good work. 👍👍.

    I got a couple of days training with Rapid Training earlier in the year and we did Butter Tubs (on a GS funnily enough). Was awesome! I live on the south coast so we don't really do hills. Every time I went over the brow of a hill I said "Bloody hell!" or similar, much to the annoyance of the guy on the intercom. I didn't film it so it's good to see someone else's videos of if to get a flavour of it. Watch out for the sheep!

    As you say using all the road is fine "when you can see ahead is clear". Just be careful and remember that means you can see the road SURFACE. Those stone walls and grassy banks create hidden ground that can easily hide a cyclist, sports car, walker, gravel etc., or dare I say it sheep. 😉 Keep safe.

    I've not watched any of your videos for quite some time so don't know what happened confidence wise so I'll look through your play list but found this a good watch so have subscribed. From one short a*se to another with a GS if you put the bars on full Right hand lock before you get on, not only is it easier to get on the bike (I stand on the left footpeg too) but because of the geometry of the steering it's far easier to get the bike upright too. Try it on some flat ground vs having the bike on full left lock and you'll see what I mean 👍

    • @tartantam3405
      @tartantam3405 2 года назад +2

      Kate, that was a little strange to see you ride more or less the whole road standing up. Off road, standing up yes, as it allows the bike to move around more easily, maintaining your balance, and usually at far lower speeds but on road I’d suggest is a bit dangerous as the rear isn’t as weighted as it normally would be, and the centre of gravity of the bike is far higher, and subsequently further out to the left or right of the bike. I get the better view thing, but over the whole ride, on road not sure. Now, you can of course just tell me to bog off and mind my own business, which is fine, but I say it only out of concern. I hope you stay safe.
