    "stupeficium" Is the One that sounds more "Magical". The spells in Harry Potter tend to have sound similarities with ancient latin: "Piertotum Locomotor" "wingardium leviosa" "Crucio" "Imperio" ecc.. so I think the Italian version Is the most accurate

    • @revenant6345
      @revenant6345 3 года назад +5

      Stupeficium is in fact the correct term, it is Latin. I don't know why in English they changed it in "Stupefy".

    • @LeoLeo-qo7yw
      @LeoLeo-qo7yw 3 года назад +2

      I am also disappointed, since Spanish is the second closest language to latin, and they changed it to "Desmayo" which it's "Faint".

    • @Thelaretus
      @Thelaretus Год назад +3

      Actually they're based on Classical Latin _(Latīnitās),_ not Ancient Latin _(Prīsca Latīnitās)._ Archaic Latin has would have something like _stupēfhaciom_ rather than _stupeficium._

    • @Thelaretus
      @Thelaretus Год назад +2

      @@revenant6345 I can't find _stupeficium_ in any Latin dictionary. The verb _stupefaciō_ ('stupefy') is the closest I can get; I could derive a noun _stupefactum_ (the act of stupefying) from that, but that'sthe most I can stretxh it. See _faciō_ (make) > _factum_ (deed, fact), _interficiō_ (kill, make into pieces) > _interfectum_ (murder, killing). Not that you couldn't just make it up: it's a magical word, after all -- though the Romans themselves usually preferred magical words _(vōcēs magicae)_ for languages older than their own; anyway; _stupeficium_ does fit the pattern of word such as _beneficium_ < _benefaciō_ if you use _stupefaciō_ as thr original word.

    • @user-fk3lw6zo9u
      @user-fk3lw6zo9u 8 месяцев назад

      @@Thelaretus I think the word was created by the union of the Latin words "stupor" and "maleficium", which means spell (in a more negative way). It's a very clever word, in fact I thought it was the same in the english original. I really like the Italian version, I think they put a lot of work into it.

Ale vďaka, konečne nejaký Čech, ktorý dokáže prijať SK, pozeral som iné videá, a je mi na vracanie ako sa tam vaši vychvalujú aký sú najlepší. Slovenský jazyk je krásny a čistý, dabingy máme k hovnu, ale harry potter je film kde sa mi náš dabing hodí viacej ako ktorýkoľvek iný, ale každý má svoj názor, a nikomu neberiem to že má radšej CZ 😉

    In the movies, why would they make "Stupefy" and "Expelliarmus" similar, in the sense that they (depending on the scene) knock someone backwards? In fact, Harry's spell on Snape and Cedric's spell on Krum were blue lights, just like Stupefy. I also wonder why Expelliarmus would have two different effects--disarming a wizard from their wand and repelling an enemy with magical force.
