It's part of the game and it's called the home field advantage. What is uncool is when an NFL team would pump fan noise through the speakers to interfere with the visiting team. Or when the Giants would open large doors at the end zone when the opposing team was attempting a FG, hoping the extra wind would result in a miss. That is just wrong.

I grew up and still live about an hour away from Penn State. My dad took me to my first white out game when I was in 8th grade and still remember it vividly to this day, I am now 29. I knew something was different was when the band was in the tunnel ready to come out and they were all jumping up and down in the tunnel like if they were the football team LOL. When you are at a Whiteout it will make you feel like you can run through a brick wall.

This is the craziest energy I’ve ever seen in my life. If the stadium let the DJ continue with the second Mo Bamba without the announcer cutting in, this would be the #1 most insane college footage of our lifetime. Penn state should be playing Mo Bamba for the rest of their time if they want to win a chip. I love this

As a Penn State fan, I've been to many whiteout games including the game against Ohio State in 2016 where we won. But this game, by far, was my favorite. The energy and how loud it got was surreal.
I sat in the upper North End Zone, first row behind metal plates and banged on them all night. Not only did I lose my voice but was pretty well bruised up along the arms, lol.
I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I have had tickets all over the stadium but never was up in the North Stratosphere. What's it like being that close to the Moon? LOL The South Upper section at least has seatbacks. I finally got season tickets years ago in the middle of ED and will never give them up!

Just saw Penn State vs Illinois for the first ”White out Energy” game. So special, 109901 fans were there. Illinois had to call three time outs cause the fans, and anytime they looked confused the crowd somehow got louder. It’s like a White Tomb for any team who goes

I've regretted not going to that game (I didn't have tickets), but last night when we forced a Minnesota false start on their very first play makes up for it. Loudest thing I've ever heard in person. In the student section it hit 120 dB

This is almost certainly the best atmosphere/start to a game anywhere. But the Kick six is the most electrifying “moment” in CFB history. That was genuinely indescribable

Not even a fan of either of these teams but this gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. It’s everything that is great about college football in one video. No sport like it - NFL doesn’t even come close.
