  • I awoke on day 7 to clear skies after the wind and rain of day 6. The route for the day took me from Horton-in-Ribblesdale along the Roman Road to Hawes. I enjoyed fantastic views of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, Ingleborough and of the spectacular Ribblehead viaduct.

    I just wanted to say how useful your videos are. 🙏 I’m doing the PW in stages (weekends really) over a couple of years. I’ve just booked Easter weekend in Skipton so we can do up to Malham Tarn. Then it’s Pen y Ghent, which I have done before on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks - love it!!

    Nice video, always interesting to see other people's perspective on this wonderful landscape.
    The disappearing waterfall is Calf Holes, the water reappears at Browgill Caves, 400m NW or so as the crow flies. It's possible to follow the water as a fairly novice-friendly through trip, though you'll need a ladder to get down/ up. You'll have walked past by another disappearing stream not too long before, Sell Gill, too. Though nothing you'd want to bivi in like Thirst House ;)

    Been subscribed to your channel for a while now, enjoy watching them but these PW daily uploads top the lot. Probably because 3 years ago I done my 1st long distance at the age of 65, yeah the Pennine Way which I enjoyed every single day (except Tan Hill to Middleton, yawn yawn). Your vids are really bringing back memories, thanks a million for your efforts, really appreciated. As I'm writing this your probably getting over Gt. Shunner Fell, its a great days walk to Tan Hill. Good luck for the next 5/6/7 days

    Good to see Lisa again. The emotional support person will also take care of your laundry needs and other needs like new socks. The scenery today was stunning. There must be more sheep in that area than people. I did not realize how many varieties of sheep were raised in that area. I have heard that New Zealand has an amazing variety of sheep as well.

    Right, I have caught up to day 7. I would really like to know at some stage about the kit you are carrying with you - are you able to brew up, do you have any form of Poncho or similar if you get caught out etc. how much water do you carry and how do you maintain your feet as I have not heard you mention even one hotspot so far? Thank you in advance and good luck for the remainder of your journey North.

    • @DeanRead
      @DeanRead  5 лет назад +1

      Hi mate, thanks for watching. I'm very pleased to say that I'm 120+ miles in and have no foot issues. My feet are like leather as I wear boots all the time at work so they are pretty tough. I have some foot cream by Gerwhal that was recommended to me by mate Richard and I use that every night, just refreshes them a little after getting them wet in trail shoes. I carry about 5-6 litres of water. I have a bladder in my backpack with a tube to drink from, 2 cycling style bottles in my side pockets and also one of those Chillies thermos style bottles to keep things cold or warm. I've got my JetBoil zip with me but haven't brewed up yet. I don't have a poncho but I have full waterproofs.

    • @RobertsBulgaria
      @RobertsBulgaria 5 лет назад +1

      @@DeanRead Thank you for replying. So weight wise, including the 7 ish kgs or water, what's your load? I noticed the tube for the bladder and what looks like a couple of walking poles poking up from your rucksack, but it might be a Tripod for the camera. Hope the British weather treats you kindly - another hot day in Bulgaria. ATVB. Robert Now off to view part 8.
