I have had many issues with anxiety and at times haven't been able to function at all. However, I find walking such an amazing gift which has always really helped me. I walk nearly everywhere instead of driving.
FANTASTIC ! Love Greg's hut, that was brilliant. # Team Hobnob !! What a wonderful adventure and so lucky with the weather on the whole. (I'm a big View Ranger fan )
I understand how difficult failures are having had my share of failures. Over the years, I have learned that failure is good as it is a teaching experience. It showed me to enjoy life and go with the flow. Good luck.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful landscape there with those of us who have not been to Britain yet. It is whetting the appetite for a future trip. Thanks!
Hi mate. What a brilliant course. We all suffer from mental illness from time to time. It's still a taboo even now.. thanks mate you are a star and I'm very proud of you. See you on the trail
Just to say Dean that I'm really enjoying doing an 'armchair' Pennine Way with you. I'm 66 now with a false hip and another one needed, so the real thing is a bit beyond me for now. The PW was always on my 'to do' list but never got done. I'm simultaneously reading an old copy of Alfred Wainwright's PW Companion and thoroughly enjoying both his and your experiences. Thank you for this!
Enjoying your journey along the trail very much Dean.... Came across your story looking for a post covid journey. Very good to highlight the mental health issues... tried to donate but think your fundriaser may be closed. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching Alan and thank you for trying to donate, the page closed but I really appreciate it. I learned a lot about myself and what I'm mentally capable of, moments of reflection along the Pennine Way have given me the tools that I've needed to rely on in the past year... Anyway, I'm digressing :-) I hope you have a great time if you head out on the PW, it's a fantastic route and I'd love to do it again myself. All the best, Dean
Really pleased to see you use your platform to campaign for Mind, a wonderful charity that I give to regularly. The more we can talk about mental health, the better the world becomes.
I’m doing this walk today and didn’t know about Greg’s hut so looking forward to calling in , great vid , great cause . 🤙 ps - hope those HobNobs are still there
Thank you Joe, really appreciate the support. Have a few friends that suffer so it's an issue that is very close to my heart and mind. Thanks for watching too 👍
Donated!! What a beautiful way to raise awareness of such an important issue. Definitely blessed by the weather. We are with you each step of the way mate. Good luck for tomorrow. #teamhobnob. 👍🏻
Good evening Dean, another "fantastic" video!! It must be wonderful to meet others along the track and offering HobNobs to the folk you encounter is a real winner. You are giving so much to so many people all over the world, until tomorrow ... Cheers Garry
The gift of a chocolate hobnob is enough to raise the spirits of even the most tired of walkers. It's the gift that keeps on giving.... Until the packet is empty :-) better go and buy more this morning haha. Thanks for watching Gaz.
Hi Dean you are having some luck with the weather. I walked this section 5 or 6 years ago and the weather on Great Dun Fell and Cross Fell was horrendous 90 + mph winds with thick, mist thank god I had a Satmap because there was no way you could use a map and compass. I am enjoying these vids lovely scenery, good luck.
Keep going Dean been waching your vid every day brill to see you doing it you will be fine not long now till the end i have never done all of the pennieway just bits so the vids have inspired me
Dean, thanks so much for all the time and effort you put into making daily videos. I understand how short your free time is. This video really helped Murray and I be prepared for the day, and of course to look out for Greg's Hut which we were happy to shelter in when the clouds descended. Sat down for dinner, looked across the room and there was Rob 😀. Happy trails tommorow and looking forward to today's video. M&J
Thanks for watching. I’m so glad I decided to raise money for charity on this trek, I hope the funds raised have gone on to help people. I never thought for a moment it would get anywhere near that amount
@@DeanRead It really was quite special to watch the support the first time around! I've been following you since the early days when you hit your first 2000 subs, it's been really inspiring to me and clearly other folk too. Personal favourites are Kinder above the clouds.. That's some bucket list stuff lol. And your Scotland bothy trip with the the lads. All good stuff mind :)
Thanks for watching and supporting me over the years, I really appreciate it. I've got so many memories from times spent with friends, family and alone here on RUclips. It's like my own little archive of things to look back on, I'm so glad I chose to document these times. Lots more to come 🤞
Wise words on navigating this section. Last August I came across there in driving rain and wind with poor visibility. It was pretty bleak!. I stayed the night in Greg’s Hut to split this section, great choice. Good going you’re reeling it in😀
Loving the vids Dean, you've inspired me to do a couple of things in the next year that I've been wanting to do for a while. I sometimes struggle to get out of bed to go to work so your comments struck a chord with me ⛰👍
Th x for sharing Dean and Also your thoughts on mental health. I was recently off work with stress related stuff and one of the things that really helped me was just simple fact: my employer realised how mental health can affect a person and how serious it is. Great idea with the donation page.
Yet another good video Dean. As someone who couldn't get out of bed let alone out the door today (and most other days) I really appreciate what you're doing. Have a virtual hobnob on me. :)
Really enjoying the daily dose of Pennine plodding, you're nearly there Dean & "fantastic" that you are raising some pretty green along the way. The Cleveland Way will be a week long stroll in the park after this ;)
Nice one one doing the fundraiser, and you did really well with it 😎💪🏻 having struggled with my mind in recent years it’s definitely a charity that also close to my heart.... or head 🤔😂 thanks for sharing Atb Mark
Great video gonna have to catch up on your last posts as Im trigpointing in North Yorkshire the next few days will watch them when we return to the laptop....
Thank you Dean for these authentic videos. Enlarged my wandering longing. Also it is pretty nice to see the parents of my boyfriend and know their doing well. Say hi and take care of them. #TeamHobNob #Murray&Julie Good luck Jessi from Berlin
How very spooky, I was listening to the very same album before watching your latest installment. All the best for your continued success on the Penine Way. 👍 👍
Hi Dean forgot to say I am a mark knopfler fan too I go see him at Birmingham ever time a new album comes out been going since i was a young boy and I am 40 now lol
We have been to Birmingham for the last 4 or 5 tours... Probably there on the same night, usually sat down near the front as we get tickets through the fan club :-) I often listen to the live recordings, might do that today. All the best and thanks for watching. Dean
Keep on trucking Dean ! Really enjoying this series of videos, thanks for sharing your adventure 👍 PS. treat yourself to a USB C cable - reckon it should save a fair amount of time.
Have a USB C to USB C cable at home so the emotional support crew is bringing it up when she comes to stay for a night tonight :-) fingers crossed it will work. I've done all this on the spur of the moment so didn't research that aspect before I left. Thanks for watching
Hi dean well done mate keep it up you can do it You will be doing the coast to coast next lol Really look forward to these vlogs each night thanks for doing them dean take care atvb chris
Dean I am alway at the front to as get the tickets though the fan club as well think on the last tour we was sitting 8 rows back in the middle on the Sunday night i think yes get some mark on and the miles will just go

This was probably my worst day of the walk. Driving rain and fog, all the way from Dutton to Cross Fell. Weather cleared bear to Greg's Hut. And don't get me started on the path to Garrigill. Keep on trucking.
Just a quick geek question , do you delete all your old files to make way for the latest uploads ? Great series BTW and you will smash it no probs atb Dave

Greg's Hut, smells of "soup and sausage rolls"!
Weres the bothy
Just to the North East of Cross Fell on the Pennine Way, search for Greg's Hut and you'll find it. Thanks for watching
Just when you thought it was safe to put your Visa card away.
