      @xiaochenliu2326 the balanced cable adds in some subtle differences mostly noticeable in detail retrieval and resolution. Of course it also depends on the abilities of your DAC and amp.

    FINALLY! Thank you for this! Been waiting for forever for reviews on this. And thankfully, seems to be a winner at a great price. The signature sounds like it's right up my alley and the technical performance seems to be just right for the price point. A question though, I have a chance to get these at around $260, would you say they are worth the extra cost over the HarmonicDyne Athena, which i can get for around $170? I feel like the answer is surely a yes, but just wanted to be sure. Currently have a Hifiman HE400SE (non-stealth) and a Fiio JT1, so want to take that next tangible step. I've been looking at the Hifiman Edition XS for about $400, but i feel like i wanna take this sub $300 step first (plus the fact that the AR5000 are dynamic drivers versus the planars on the Edition XS). So yeah, between the Athena and AR5000, is the $90 premium of the Aune worth it? Thank you!
    P.S. I actually would've wanted to get the HD600 into consideration as they are obviously legendary and are also dynamic drivers, but where I am, they are priced too close to the Edition XS (around $330) for me. Plus, you compared the Aune favorably against them as well.

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  8 месяцев назад +2

      The Athena is a lot more bassy, warmer, smaller stage width and not quite as detailed and resolving. The AR5000 is a step up from the Athena.

    Very interesting and good construction of this headphone. Do you believe your honest opinion that it is better than the sivga luan in detailed and pleasant sound? Besides, have you tried the Neumann Ndh30, if you did, do you think it is better than these two in sound?

    Hi! Are ar5000 good enough for mixing? I’m choosing from sh hd 600 or ar5000. What I like about auna is its impedance. I have a really cheap sound interface (around 50$) and I don’t really think the hd 600 would work fine with it. Although they say that hd 600 is one of the best neutral headphones for mixing, frequency response graphics show that they are quite similar and even more ar 5000 are more neutral at bass and mid. So what do you think?

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  6 месяцев назад +1

      Between those two I'd pick the AR5000. The HD600 is too forward in the mids to be neutral but it does have fantastic tone and timbre.

      How do you compare them? I have the 600 and Sundara. I find the mids are just a tiny touch hot and subbass weak on the 600, Sundara has a touch too much treble and a touch too little mids, bass is great, technicality is good but less cohesive than 600. is the Aune the best in between these two for tuning? It looks almost as neutral as it gets, even the 560s has that shout peak.

    • @verboten8
      @verboten8 4 месяца назад +1

      @mikafoxx2717 On my end, the AR5000 are the warm flavor between the 2. Bass is better than the HD600, but for my taste AR5000 aren't bright enough, and I thoroughly enjoy the sparkle the Sundara provide. In term of technicalities, the Sundara take the cake, although imaging-wise the AR5000 fare better in directional sound cues than the Sundara.

    • @mikafoxx2717
      @mikafoxx2717 4 месяца назад +1

      @@verboten8 I figured the Sundara would win for technicalities with the planar. I was just considering jumping into electrostatics and considering I have some of the most neutral headphones and IEM's.. possibly a bad direction. So I thought maybe the ar5000 could be the best new choice. Better bass, easy to drive, better soundstage than either of these.. plus electrostatics can be made from scratch and I did make and test a homemade driver. Would be much cheaper to make than buy into it.. I really do prefer the 600's treble but the subbbass is what I miss, and the slight mids suckout in the Sundara, tho not too bad. The XS everyone talks about being a straight Sundara upgrade, according to this channel is even darker than the AR5000 and less neutral.. questions, questions. The 560s tempted me but I heard oluv's recording with the shout peak vs EQ'd out and that did it for me.

    How's the clamp force Dave? Is it going to stay put if I want to rock out a bit? I'm looking at the 109 Pro, FT5, and now this. Different price brackets, but which would you choose - best bang for the buck? I'm sure I would enjoy the Aune. You're the only reviewer I really trust, as our subjective tastes seem to align.

    • @TheHonestAudiophile

      Clamp force of the AR5000 is good,not going to fall off unless you do some serious headbanging. I would pick in this order; FT5, AR5000, 109 Pro. BUT AR5000 is the best value of the 3.

    • @TheHonestAudiophile

      Metal isn't a genre that I am well versed in but I do listen to it occasionally.

    The Sundara is considered the value champ at this price point. How does the Aune compare?

    • @TheHonestAudiophile

      Sundara is more aggressive in presentation and not as musical. The Sundara is more elevated in the upper mids and treble, has a more metallic timbre, and isn't as natural sounding. The Sundara is more intimate in stage width. Sundara is similar in detail retrieval and resolution. The Sundara leans to the analytical presentation and the AR5000 is more natural, pleasureable.

      @@TheHonestAudiophileI have the 600 and sundara and this headphone sounds absolutely perfect.. love the 600 but the bass.. the sundara calls me for that, but then I lose those mids and get a little bit more treble spice than I like.. 600 is more cohesive but the technicality and bass on the sundara makes me dance easier, 600 is what I use for everything though, videos, calls thanks to the cohesiveness.

    Disagree with hd600 that "everything sounds closer". All sounds from hd600 is far by default on some degree. Its VFXed headphones with some veil to it. All sound come from 10-15 cm from ears (it feels like it), when r70x sound straight to your head, without any "space" or "effect" between. Not many reviewers mention that and its said, while its totally there. Bass on r70x also a bit "more" on r70x than hd600, while trebble clarity a bit better on hd600, cause of elevated/peak that was mentioned, so thats why it feels like it.
