Yet another fantastic in-depth review of this equipment. Thank you very much as always, Sir! Based on this review I may need to try these in place of my VZR in CoD.
These headphones have been among my favorite for music listening and gaming. Really good complimentary set to my HD600 and Sundara. I really like how the bass and mids are presented in this set, and while for my taste the Sundara have the better edge, the AR5000 are a very fierce contender in this price range. Oh, and I'm here to say that I have been enjoying your reviews as they are one of the more detailed and thorough headphones reviews out in RUclips. Have a great one, mate.
Hi I just ordered these for gaming. And I'm coming from the astro a50x , And the beyerdynamic mmx 300 pro. How do these Aune ar5000 sound for games thanks.
@@jamesstevens968 I pretty much have the same experience with the review here. They're pretty good, both in tonality and technicalities. Just don't expect them to help raking in kill count, though.
I just bought the AR5000. It is better than Sundara and hd600 imo. Probably my favourite headphone right now. I already sold the Sundara and will likely sell the hd600 after listening to this headphone.
These are my favorite headphones I have ever used! I'm glad you reviewed them! The soundstage is such an experience and really feels like speakers are around me!
does the soundstage get affected depending on which position you put the headphone in? Like does it get bigger if you shift the headphones forward relative to your ears and intimate vice-versa?
@@ashishbarthwal6961 Yeah, and it also changes the tonality of things. Things just sound more natural and "full" with lots of depth if you have the headphones shifted forward. If you push them back closer to behind your head, things do sound more intimate and detailed, but more shouty/harsh, etc.
Thanks for yet another great review Joe! As far as content tips concerned: I noticed there aren't any Austrian Audio headphones in your measurement list yet. I have owned the open back Hi-X65 for close to two years now and still very happy with it. Kind of a sleeper in terms of exposure on youtube as a small company without a big marketing budget but they have really invested in the design and tech of their headphone family. It's built like a tank and more custom and high-tech in terms to it's structural design compared to all the retro design headphones out there. Also much less bare-bones than Sennheiser in materials and look and feel. It makes for an interesting alternative in the 'neutral / long term comfort / monitor style' headphones group you touched up on with this review, I feel. Would love to see you review it (or one of its siblings) one day. Keep up the good work!
I don’t have a well trained ear, but I was encouraged to see you list off some of the same thoughts I had for these compared to the Sundara/Edition XS and the HD 600 lineup. I use EQ, and I feel like these can be EQ’d to add a Harman-like bass response, which I couldn’t do with the HD 600, while ALMOST having as good of midrange. I also felt like the treble gets just as sparkly as I like, where the hifiman’s have a little too much sparkle up top. A really perfect midpoint between the HD 600 and the Sundara/Edition XS, and to me they are way more comfortable than any of those.
Yeah, I feel like it's the perfect mix of Sundara and hd600, though I wish it were more technical than the hd600, it's about on par with it. The planars just have much lower distortion for bass and busy sections of music.
Just picked a set of these up. Had confidence they'd be great as I trust your reviews Joe. I'm not disappointed. Via Qudelix 5k via mobile of Schiit Hel 2 via PC they are fantastic. So easy to drive too - even the PS5 controller drives them to stupid volumes. Now to get that Meze Boom Mic to use on PS5 via the Qudelix :)
I have a pair of HD58X Jubilees and have been looking for an upgrade. I watched lots of videos. Read web sites about a couple different pairs (these and the new Audio Tecnica Refine). What sold me on these (already ordered) was an Amazon review where a guy explains his experience in Call of Duty. He mentions your tuning for it as well which was cool to see. But how he explains the different pitch of your teammates versus the opponents. The layering and separation. And how well the soundstaging works… exactly what I’ve been listening for myself with the various headphones I’ve tried. These could be endgame. 🎉
Nice review - thanks again for this and so many other great recommendations Joe @Gagetrytech. Have you done a AR7000 review - I see you've measured them. Bought these on the basis of this and many other reviewer's descriptions and while I understand it's all subjective or relative to their measurement rigs, and I'm also limited to comparing to what I have - (Maxwell and Atlas Air), for me, these are the best I've heard and my favourite for long music listening sessions. Comfort is so important and usually that seems to mean some compromise, but not here I don't think! Only tried them for gaming for a few minutes much too late at night because I've been so taken with rediscovering music and Oh My God. Love them!
Loved the video, what would you say is the best all around gaming headset? i used to have the maxwells but i just couldnt get used to the weight, whats the next best thing?
Thanks! That's a tough one to answer because there are so many variables at play. If you're on Discord, I would join the server and ask there (link in description). It's likely several follow up questions would occur, and I'd hate to miss your response to this comment later. You'll ideally want to provide which platforms you play, what games, if you have any preferences, need a mic, wireless or not, budget, etc.
Hi astro a50x all day. Turtle beach stealth pro too heavy. Wired corsair virtuoso wired mmx 300 pro. I have them all. I just ordered these Aune ar5000 for gaming I hope I don't get disappointed they'll be in tomorrow we will see how they sound stay safe and happy gaming to all
Pretty cool channel. Unfortunately I feel that headphone review channels are either super biased or just that peoples ear structure is very different and measurements don’t translate that well. I’m 55 and mostly listen to my speaker system. But occasionally enjoy headphones. I’ve tried many headphones which I struggle to see how people like them. ( I EQ all my headphones). Most recently I got the Kato IEMs and they are harsh and grainy in the upper mids and you can’t even EQ it out. Needless to say they have been returned. You seem to have a good channel which is even keeled
Hello. I've been following your videos for a while now and they are super complete and interesting. I'm hesitating between the Aune and the MM100 mainly for gaming. Which one would you choose? Thank you very much.
As someone who enjoys the HD 660S2 (and 6XX to a very slightly lesser extent) -- in your opinion, for all games outside of Apex, would this be a better choice?
Estoy entre estos Aune AR5000 y los HarmonicDyne Zeus Elite, creo que nadie los ha comparado a pesar de su similitud. Ojalá seas tú el que pueda traer los HarmonicDyne próximamente y compararlo con estos Aune.
Yes please!!! I have the Elite and they are incredible Only the cups move like crazy which is extremely disturbing to me But sound wise I really do enjoy them a lot
This is a little late, but I have both the elite and the 5000, and it really depends what sound you want in your headphones. The elite is more v shaped with an emphasis on treble and bass, while the aune has a larger emphasis on the mids. The build quality is better on the ar5000, but the elite is fine. For gaming both are great, I would say that the ar5000 might have slightly better imaging, but both are the best for gaming I’ve tried so far.
Late to this party and this looks really nice. I've been finding this price range becoming extremely competitive and just spoiled by options. I'd love to see you check out the Harmonicdyne Zeuz Elite. That's been my warm tone, wall hack, comfort king so would be cool to hear your thoughts
Hello. Great videos man. Just wondering, any plans to review the Denon series of wired closed backs (Denon D5200, Denon D7200, Denon D9200)? Id love to hear your take on them
Thanks so much! Honestly, I'm not 100% yet. I would love to, but I'll need to form some way of contacting Denon to work with them on covering that lineup.
Hello Joe, Aune AR500 review is excellent. I really appreciate the comparison with Sennheiser HD600. I would propose a review of Artti T10 Planar IEM. I got it for 57€ and it is unexpectedly well tuned, but with high resolution, solid stage and overall it seems to be a high quality product.
Have you ever tried the audio-technica ATH-AD900X? They’re a bit older but they have insane imaging/directional audio with a low enough impedance to drive them off of a controller or phone. I use the Maxwell’s now but, I went through like 5 different $150-$300 headphones before I replaced the 900x bc of how dynamic and well staged they were for gaming and music (especially with a dac/amp).
How do these headphones compare to the HarmonicDyne Athena? For someone like me who wants something more "open", but still appreciates the bass to listen to genres like 80's disco or current hip hop, which would be better?
Great review as always. I have a question not directly related to the video. If I bought a headset like these for Xbox Series X, how would I set up a separate mic that allows game chat? I’ve looked into it, but can’t seem to find a definitive answer.
Why does the frequency response from the Audio Science Review look so diferrent from any other measurment? The treble looks very very dark in that review. While others, like in this review look pretty ok,
Many thanks Joe for this review.i love open backs for gaming. I'm loving my new turtle beach atlas air, for ps5. Otherwise this would have been a strong contender.
Hi I had those turtle beach atlas air. But I sent them back the volume is really low turtle beach needs to fix that problem. I'm coming from the astro a50x. And the beyerdynamic mmx 300 pro headphones. But I just ordered these Aune ar5000 for gaming I hope they sound good for gaming I hope I don't get disappointed.
Hi, I have the HD 490 Pro and I'm wondering if the Aune AR5000 might be better, especially in terms of footsteps? Which of these two would give me a better soundstage for single-player games?
Would you recommend Aune AR5000 over FT1 Pro? if price is not concerned. I will use it for story-driven game mostly, and connect it to dualsense directly (maybe I'll buy amp in the future).
Good question. The FT1 pro looks very similar to the Sundara on the graph and thus is certainly another and a but more neutral, but the planars have much lower distortion than dynamics, especially in the bass frequencies, which makes them not sound punchy but still have the low bass. They're more detailed during busy and loud passages in music, the AR5000's have more soundstage but maybe less imaging, it's hard to say. The planar is better for electronic and crazier music, these and the 600 series are better for vocals due to the mids and easier to listen to for videos and such long-term.
I wonder how these compare to the HiFiMan HE400se v1(Chinese/non stealth). I'm wondering if I should get the HE400se v1 soon, or wait, and save up money to eventually get these Aune AR5000. I don't know all the audiophile terms yet, but I think I prefer linear frequency response, forward presentation of mids and relaxed timbre over all. I'm sensitive to sibilance. (For reference while I love bass; I recently returned the Fiio JT1s because the mids sounded like they were hiding in my neighbours house and the treble was sibilant for me). An analogy is that I like large format film photography (smooth tonal transition and engaging micro contrast, kinda dark/subdued tonally overall, some details lost in favour of overall smoothness): over HDR digital photography (high detail, modern high contrast tonality, with hidden details lifted in post production). Does that make sense to anyone?
Definitely the Aune. Or the HD600 series. I totally get what you mean about the photography and I agree. I stick to natural contrast and subdued lifelike color, more like you're looking into a window of the scene rather than over processed.
LOL. Both are great but I did not directly compare them in this video. Originally I had a ton of comparisons but it got very long winded, and I thought it would be better to make a general comparison video down the road. The SIVGA is more V shape, and has a punchier bass, but also more forward mid range. Both are very comfortable, with the comfort edge going to the Luan. If you want slightly more neutral, but more energetic than Sennheiser HD 6x0 line, then I would consider the AR5000. If you want more of a V shape for EDM/hop hop, or just prefer that kind of sound signature, then the Luan is still a great pick. They also both handle EQ well.
@@GadgetryTech ye i just finished watchin sad no comparison and would you do new aune 7k review since its closed back and higher price? i have no idea if they out yet
@@GadgetryTech and i would say that when i was thinking about this 2 i got luan just cos its more v shaped and cos of bass and just after moving from dt 880 it felt like significant change but as you said if you would need to pick only 1 pair of headphones i would get chinese one that is good with eq adjustments
@@GadgetryTech also after i got another cable for luan while sound stage is wider and a lot of micro details more accurate i can hear damped sound and i posted vid before in discord from 4ernov Eywa guy who did mod it those and from his perspective it change a lot but i still waiting for k11 r2r before making any non reversible changes
@@418792316 have you done other mods? I can't fully understand his video through translation but I only know he removed the fliter on the driver and cut out the pad's inner layer. What else did he do?
Good review! But some users complain about the lack of detail of these headphones, excessive smoothness of sound - something similar to how Philips headphones sound)) Highly likely(?) 🤗 Is it possible to sound mixing tracks in them? ✍
The basic comparison between these two would be electronic versus acoustic. These are smooth and neutral and easy to listen to, the XS would be more tuned to recess the vocals and have more bass and treble but the distortion is also crazy low and so it has crazy technically that can come across almost unnatural.
Hey dude! I've seen some products out of budget chinese manufacturers have been known to have reversed polarity. Could you confirm if the headphone's polarity is reversed or the cable is mislabelled?
I have a bunch of headphones, tygr 300r, hd560s, Hifiman Edition XS, (several others). I may have to get these just for comfort. My Edition XS are my favorite sounding but just aren't that comfortable, but they are so much better than my other headphones in sound I rarely use the other ones anymore. Maybe these will be "close enough".
Anyone ever figure out how to take the earcups off? Its giving me the itch. Mine need to be washed badly, I have atopic dermatitis and need to keep my face bacteria free or I get craters.
Ok, so I'm not audiophile guy, just a customer who's trying to make an informed decision on what to buy. I look everything from repair-ability, customization, product quality, hardware... Software... Etc. And the headphones I taken keen interest in are the Sennheiser HD600's, along with Topping DX3 Pro+. Play games, FPS mainly but enjoy listening to music even if the file formats they're coming from is sub-optimal from what I've heard. If you have any suggestions for different headphones to look up, or Dac/Amp do feel free to throw your suggestions in, they are greatly appreciated.
Hey there, what you have suggested will definitely serve you well, Topping make great value gear that measures extremely well (basically will be completely transparent and not change the sound signature at all), and the hd600s are a classic headphone. I own the HD6xx which can be found much cheaper and share very similar characteristics to the HD600 + HD650, so it may be worth checking those out if on a budget. Note that the HD600/6xx have a very tight headband when new which can cause discomfort, however there are plenty of videos showing how you can loosen them a little to reduce the clamping force if an issue. I also highly recommend looking into EQ, I use it with all my headphones and allows you to dial them in to your preference. Peace + Equalizer APO are free on windows and are great, if you don't know where to start, search Oratory 1990 and your headphone, he has a great database of measurements and then has prepared EQ settings you can directly copy to bring them in line with the Harman target. That for me (and most listeners) will sound great, and from there you can tweak the bass shelf etc to your personal preference.
The above would be when optimising for music, whereas this channel and others also provide EQ guides for specific games, so you could switch profiles to tailor them to your current use case.
@@JamesEldon Awesome, thank you very much. I'm glad to know my research hasn't been completely in vain. The EQ is something I've been hesitant on, since I haven't been able to research it as much, so getting suggestion on that is great. I do plan on switching to Linux from Windows at somepoint, so I might have to figure out how things work there separately but for now I'm still contempt. I was wondering about 6xx's since they are cheaper and seen bunch of great reviews on them as well, and while I'm not complete bass heavy listener, I do enjoy it as well. Topping DX3 Pro+ is my main question mark as to whether or not it's the best bang for the buck along with my requirements for accessibility on parts etc. since I can solder if necessary, or upgrade. I'll definitely take note and look up videos on Peace + Equalizer APO, and how to best tune the headphones on there to the Harman target, just got to check Oratory 1990 and everything I'm seeing looks to be really comprehensive so thank you a lot mate, I really appreciate the advice.
@@Ezz0Clan No problem at all, it sounds like you are thinking along all the right lines. I personally am using a Topping E30II+L30II which I think equates to a very similar performance as the DX3 Pro+, just using a seperate DAC and Amp. If you are interested in measurements, I can see some testing for the DX3 Pro+ here which I think confirms that it will be excellent performance for the price: www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/topping-dx3-pro-review-dac-headphone-amp.27148/ Also i wouldn't worry too much about file formats for music listening, I used to rip all my music in FLAC lossless to a dedicated server. But after some blind testing, I found that my friends and I could barely tell a difference to regular streaming quality even when directly ABX testing and really trying hard to perceive any changes. And when I'm just relaxing and enjoying gaming/ music I honestly don't feel like I am missing out on anything, so feel free to do your own experimenting, but I'd say nowadays the streaming and codecs used are good enough that they rarely will have a significant impact. Things like getting a good seal on your earcups, or the acoustics of the room for speakers make a far larger difference. Anyways good luck with it all!
No I wouldn't get the sennheiser 600 because it's too too intimate no soundstage. That's why I didn't get the 660s2. Wireless astro a50x turtle Beach stealth pro too heavy wired corsair virtuoso pro or the beyerdynamic mmx 300 pro I have them all. Give just ordered the Aune ar5000 for gaming should be coming home tomorrow I hope I don't get disappointed for gaming sound stay safe and happy gaming to all
I know you mentioned they’re easy to drive via a PS5 controller or Apple dongle? But would using a dac/amp for gaming on a PS5 or listening on an iPhone improve the quality significantly? Are there any you’d recommend if so?
I wonder how Aunes new 'sea reference' SR7000 compares to this one especially being higher price . they had the sr7000 on display at the munich highend show
@@dtz1000Really? What have you tried? I like it about on par with the hd600 and Sundara. It's a better HD600 audio wide I feel, better extended and less claustrophobic but the HD600 is everlasting so I keep em for the desk. The Sundara sound totally different because of their planar nature. Less good mids but less poorly tuned than most planars, but the bass frequencies with no distortion sounds very different, especially with square waves and such. It's also way more clear during busy loud passages of music. The dynamics have more intermodulation and harmonic distortion so they fuzz up a bit and don't have that feeling of silence between the notes even during busy parts.
@@mikafoxx2717 I don't like the Sundara. I didn't keep it for long because it sounded boring to me. I have the Arya Stealth which is better but still not quite as good as the AR5000. I also have the Focal Clear Professional which I will be selling soon.
Hi joey i picked up the beyerdynamic mmx300 pro. And i just got them yesterday and there awesome. For gaming any game you play sounds so good. But they are very hard to drive though. i tried the nova pro dac but you have to put the volume up 90 percent to get really good volume. Then i tried the mayflower arc amp. And that woke it up 60 percent volume on that. its because the amp dac is more powerful though. im trying the filo k11 dac amp now i had to get a adapter for it though. What would you pick joe these or the beyerdynamic mmx 300 pro. For story games and all games. For every day driver whats your pick thank you stay safe and happy gaming to you.
Is your volume turned down on the cable? On an Xbox controller I hit over 100dB and that controller only has 30 mW. That should be comparable to the Nova Pro wired DAC. Honestly I would just get the Creative G6 DAC for the MMX 300 Pro. That would be a killer combo with it, or go with the Creative GC7 if you want easier controls on PC.
Have you tried the Zeus Elite yet? A bit more expensive, but same price range and well performing imo Just got them in and tried them for an hour. Btw, I really love your reviews, very structured :)
I have these and there great are they better then the vzr model ones or would u recommend getting them for directional control and pin pointing where someone is also im mild to server hearing loss I can still hear dont get me wrong but not as good as u guys can
Also what would u recommend I run these bad boys on I have the ifi uno and the soundblaster gc7 I usually run that with scout mode on because it's insane
I bought the Maxwell because I wanted the wireless comfort... But they are very heavy and uncomfortable, I have the PC38X... as far as sound goes I think they have better quality than the Maxwell. So I decided to put the Maxwell up for sale. Now I would like a better option than the PC38X, the AR5000 really caught my attention but I would like to see what other options there are up to $500. As a microphone I will probably use the new Meze ones with dual 3.5 jacks. I am definitely not interested in wireless or closed back headphones anymore after my personal experience with the Maxwell.
@@markshenefelt7611 That may very well be! I heard the Aune’s at CanJam this year and was very impressed but I already owned the FiiO’s. It makes very little sense to own both as both are impressive at the price.
Focal Clear is quite a bit more for a reason. The bass is the most noticeable improvement, with a nice kick to it and punch that most other less expensive headphones lack. I would EQ the treble peak close to 6k down slightly on the clear, and maybe experiment with a 4khz gain (slightly), but other than that the Clear is a wonderful headphone.
This is just so underrated. Imo is a underdog. I blind buy this when it releases in my country. Worth every penny. Sadly i keep leaving comments on youtube channel asking people to review it. Only a few did. Imo this headphone have wow factor. Especially base on how you wear them. The soundstage changes if you move the headphone futher away from your ear and backward it changes it. It can be grand or intimate. It make the sound coming out of your head. I for got which position but thats crazy. Those people that own them try it out. Just move the earcup as mentioned you experience what i am saying. This work very well with kpop. But to hear the effect more try on songs that female vocals + guitar /piano. It really show you the intimate or grand. But the sound coming out of your head its crazy experience. It wow me more than hd600 lol. Hd600 wow me because of micro details . But it lack bass. This is just better overall imo compared to hd600.
Now this may be an insane question, but I'm genuinely curious, I'm just getting into this entire scene. I've recently tried the Meze 109 Pro, I loved the whole experience. I am wondering has anyone tried the 109 Pro and the AR5000 and do they have a sound comparison for them? I know they are in different leagues, but from what everyone says, they're both very comfortable, both great for Music and gaming, both have angled drivers, both look good, and from what I can understand they have a similar sound. Just hoping someone could say if the Pro is really $499 better. Thanks!
Thx for the review. I have HD 560s and it is by far the worst headphone I used for games specially apex legends. the imaging is so bad. I think my unit is faulty add to this it looks like have a filter above frequencies, so it is dull besides it is boring. with EQ them still not so good. even headphone like Superlux 681 with oratory eq is much better in games. This headphone is 20$. astro a40 is much better too specially imaging in games. it is just better with music. I like this channel because your reviews incudes gaming too because some headphones are good with music but not with games.
DX3 Pro+ is decent. It's a good enough pairing, but I think something like the FiiO K11 (in filter 1 mode), FiiO K5 is also a worthy consideration. My only hesitation on the DX3 pro+ is the 3.5mm output only, which didn't feel as sturdy over time after close to a year of ownership. I still own the DX3 pro + and I'm starting to have issues with the jack.
IEMS or open back for rpg gaming, red dead redemption 2, assassin's creed games, baulders game 3, Active. I'm in quiet environment, 280 or less, playing on consoles ps5 and series x. Wireless or wired, connected to controller. I have maxwell they are excellent just need repair. Looking hifimans edition xs or truthear novas. What are your recommendations. Also ar5000 or maxwell mm100 or the others i mentioned
All the IEMs that I have heard don't have the spatial qualities of open back headphones, so I always find them boring to listen to. I would go with open back headphones every time.
If you ever want to use mic in the future, just avoid iem at all, probably its just me but speaking while your ears is totally sealed is an uncomfortable experience, i have fitear tg335 for a year and finally sold it, used it mostly for csgo and gaming in general
Man, that is a tough one. I think overall I would prefer this more, as it reminds me of the Sennheiser products more that I typically enjoy. The FT3 is a tad warmer sounding, with a tiny amount of shout (more than AR5000). The FT3 has a couple areas where it sounds more relaxed after that touch of shout though, so I think it largely depends on what you listen to. It's a great performing headphone, but also requires a bit more power. So maybe it comes down to your amp source at that point. AR5000 sounds great with almost anything it's plugged in to.
@@dtz1000 bro have you used audeze Maxwell? Is the bass deep enough or it's just there just to be there, I'll check what you recommend hope I can get it in my country
@@xrecoveryx5526 I have never used the Audeze Maxwell. The AR5000 has enough bass for me but I'm not looking for excessive bass. The bass it does have is tight and controlled and blends in well with the rest of the music.
I wanted to clarify for myself.. Can the earphones work without the cable? Do the earphones charge? Also, are the earphones uncomfortable over glasses? Would really appreciate feedback ☺️😊🙏
I think the cable is a huge missed opportunity here. If they added a single point 3.5mm you could use a boompro mic and make it one of the best headsets for the money. I think every headphone that is easy to drive should consider the possibility appeal to a larger audience (gamers).
Based on frequency response they seem warmer and have better bass extention than the R70x, actually looking very nice for dynamic open back headphones. I also use the R70x daily, one of my favorite headphones.
@@ROCKSTAR3291 appreciate your reply. I do love the R70x’s from a comfort perspective. I WFH and daily drive these as well, love the imaging for FPS gaming. I may give these a shot based on your comments on frequency response. Thanks!
Depending on what you are using, it could be a number of factors. Some amps have a different output impedance in balanced mode, so you may be observing a higher OI, which has a chance of adding a small bass shelf. That's just one idea anyway
Save up and get the Aune AR5000 are the very best for the price bracket, nothing compares. I had Sennheiser 280 pros and they were nice but they were extremely uncomfortable around my ears, they dug into my earlobes and after a few hours, my ears would hurt for days afterwards. The Aune AR5000 are extremely comfortable and have the sub bass that Sennheisers don't have.
Comfort has to be a huge factor as well as sound quality. Unless wireless with Bluetooth is more important. I have the maxwell and pc38x and h6pro. I hate the maxwell. Can't wear them for more than an hour. And the sounds coming from the open backs is on a spiritual level.
I got the corair virtuoso pro open back used, they look brandnew on Amazon for 75$ I love the bass on these after being tuned on squig. Not sure if I'm going to keep them though because footsteps are easy to hear but the distance and sometimes positioning is off to me. Joe do you find this to be the same? Or should I get the AR, or stop messaging around and get vsr model one's? They are hooked up to my ifi zen dac v2 for reference.
That's a killer deal! Sometimes I feel that the distance for enemies is largely impacted by the game engine more than the headphone itself. I don't think the AR5000 will be a wild departure in terms of performance, but I do think it performs better. The Model One is extremely different and to me greatly benefits from EQ. Without EQ, provided you don't need a closed back, the AR5000 has a better performing sound signature out of the box for FPS.
@GadgetryTech thanks for the tips and suggestions. After watching your EQ vids I haven't looked back. It's changed my perspective on how headphones can sound beyond the manufacturers tune! I personally don't need an open back, but wanted one for those hot days and stay comfortable, instead of thinking how hot my ears are.
If you have an Edition XS already, I would not purchase the AR5000 and assume it's going to be significantly better for gaming. If you do not have either, I would personally prefer to plan on the AR5000 between the two.
Yes. Maxwell is great - tons of features and bluetooth - but they come off a little artificial for music listening. Whereas the AR5000 is open back, wired, and very well tuned. All put together, they make a very compelling package for roughly the same price. Another compelling option, if you want a closed-back, is the Sennheiser HD620s which Joe recently reviewed. It's my personal favourite closed-back.
@@Lost1ntheSauc3 great good to know, thanks for the input. I also think that the AR might be more durable considering the maxells plastic body seems to be having some issues with breaking as well

How long is the cable that comes with it?
@@dustinmihalcheon5013 It seems like a 4' cable. Maybe a bit longer, hard to say without the headphones with me at the moment.
@@dperricone7172 Probably long enough. I’ll find out shortly. I’ll be picking them up in an hour or so. Thanks. 😊

I dont even collect headphones like most watching your reviews but i am a huge fan of your craft! Keep it up Joe! 💪🏾
Mine is arriving today. Super excited.
Austrian Audio is literally AKG re-born
Great review as always.
Thanks Michael!
great review man! thanks a lot for the great content and honesty.
Thank you . For reviewing it

New to the channel thanks
To badseed. Great video.

Dude I keep getting requests for this headphone too. Might have to make room to check them out.
What amp/dac pairs well with these?
Great video! I just bought the HyperX Cloud 3 Wireless because of your review but I‘m very unhappy with them. Now I‘m looking for another headset.
Estoy entre estos Aune AR5000 y los HarmonicDyne Zeus Elite, creo que nadie los ha comparado a pesar de su similitud.
Ojalá seas tú el que pueda traer los HarmonicDyne próximamente y compararlo con estos Aune.
Yes please!!!
I have the Elite and they are incredible
Only the cups move like crazy which is extremely disturbing to me
But sound wise I really do enjoy them a lot
This is a little late, but I have both the elite and the 5000, and it really depends what sound you want in your headphones. The elite is more v shaped with an emphasis on treble and bass, while the aune has a larger emphasis on the mids. The build quality is better on the ar5000, but the elite is fine. For gaming both are great, I would say that the ar5000 might have slightly better imaging, but both are the best for gaming I’ve tried so far.
@ thanks for the insights
I am normally more after a neutral headphone, but the Elite does the V-shape incredibly well imo
The bass is fantastic
Will you be reviewing the DT 900 Pro X and/or the new K11 R2R? wondering how the R2R would compare against the topping dx 3 pro plus
Late to this party and this looks really nice. I've been finding this price range becoming extremely competitive and just spoiled by options. I'd love to see you check out the Harmonicdyne Zeuz Elite. That's been my warm tone, wall hack, comfort king so would be cool to hear your thoughts
These headphones are great. Have you tried the Shure 1840? They are older, bass lite and distort at higher volumes but I still love them
What kind of warranty do these puppies have? Couldn’t find anything online
Burning them in currently and am thrilled with the performance so far. Bought on the strength of your review 😊
Between this and Mooondrop PARA, which do you prefer?
this one
Thank GOD - an American who uses the metric system!
is this headset an upgrade from vzr one headset?
What is that photo frame in the background, what is the name of this device?
Great review as always. I have a question not directly related to the video. If I bought a headset like these for Xbox Series X, how would I set up a separate mic that allows game chat? I’ve looked into it, but can’t seem to find a definitive answer.
How would you compare these to the 560s?
The Artti T10 is next right?? Right??
Joe, should I get this or the HiFiman Edition XS? I play more single player games and I care more about Dolby Atmos performance.
Nah man, it's not gonna be that different.
AR- Armalite Rifle not assault rifle, but as always great video, man.
time to find out what better aune or luan endless battle

For gaming performance, how would you compare this with the VZR Model One?
Good review! But some users complain about the lack of detail of these headphones, excessive smoothness of sound - something similar to how Philips headphones sound)) Highly likely(?) 🤗
Is it possible to sound mixing tracks in them? ✍
If you like this Aune product, you should also give it a try with their S17 amp, I think you might like it.
This vs Hifiman Edition XS ($269)
Would like to know also
I have yet to hear an Ananda that is actually good. Ar5000 every time just because of how terrible the Ananda V3 was.
If you are interested in measurements, I can see some testing for the DX3 Pro+ here which I think confirms that it will be excellent performance for the price: www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/topping-dx3-pro-review-dac-headphone-amp.27148/
Also i wouldn't worry too much about file formats for music listening, I used to rip all my music in FLAC lossless to a dedicated server.
I know you mentioned they’re easy to drive via a PS5 controller or Apple dongle? But would using a dac/amp for gaming on a PS5 or listening on an iPhone improve the quality significantly? Are there any you’d recommend if so?
Likely to be lower quality, but dacs give you the ability to EQ if you don't like the sound signature.
I wonder how Aunes new 'sea reference' SR7000 compares to this one especially being higher price . they had the sr7000 on display at the munich highend show
I don't know how they are going to top this one. It's already better than all $1000+ headphones that I've tried. It's the best I have ever tried.
A bit more expensive, but same price range and well performing imo

My favorite neutral headphone, it's so smootth and creamy. This is how an headphone would sound and look like if Rupert Neve made it lol.
If I didn’t already own the FiiO FT3, I’d have picked up a pair of these!
I like these much better than the ft3
@@markshenefelt7611 That may very well be! I heard the Aune’s at CanJam this year and was very impressed but I already owned the FiiO’s. It makes very little sense to own both as both are impressive at the price.
Do you think it's better to save money and get this over the focal clear?
I have both and focal is much better on a complete different level
Focal Clear is quite a bit more for a reason. The bass is the most noticeable improvement, with a nice kick to it and punch that most other less expensive headphones lack. I would EQ the treble peak close to 6k down slightly on the clear, and maybe experiment with a 4khz gain (slightly), but other than that the Clear is a wonderful headphone.

Thanks!
The Aune is way more neutral. Oh wait, 109 and not 99. Yeah they're supposedly similar.
Something is wrong with your set. The 560s are well regarded for having god tier imaging for fps games
@cha0ss0ldier-4 maybe channel imbalance?
can you recommended an amp/dac within the 120-200 price mark for these? I was looking at the Topping DX3pro+.

Also ar5000 or maxwell mm100 or the others i mentioned
All the IEMs that I have heard don't have the spatial qualities of open back headphones, so I always find them boring to listen to. I would go with open back headphones every time.
@dtz1000 thank u
If you ever want to use mic in the future, just avoid iem at all, probably its just me but speaking while your ears is totally sealed is an uncomfortable experience, i have fitear tg335 for a year and finally sold it, used it mostly for csgo and gaming in general
Between this and ft3 350ohm, which do you prefer?
Man, that is a tough one. I think overall I would prefer this more, as it reminds me of the Sennheiser products more that I typically enjoy. The FT3 is a tad warmer sounding, with a tiny amount of shout (more than AR5000). The FT3 has a couple areas where it sounds more relaxed after that touch of shout though, so I think it largely depends on what you listen to. It's a great performing headphone, but also requires a bit more power. So maybe it comes down to your amp source at that point. AR5000 sounds great with almost anything it's plugged in to.
I've been itching to try open back for a while now, but 300€ is a lot of money.
What would you recommend for gaming and music? I want something with deep bass not Muddy bass
AKG K371
For music, the AR5000 can't be beat. My favourite headphones and better than several $1000+ headphones that I have used.
@@dtz1000Plsss tell me what DAC do you use? I really want a DAC that pair well with this headphone
POG
I wanted to clarify for myself.. Can the earphones work without the cable? Do the earphones charge?
Also, are the earphones uncomfortable over glasses?
Would really appreciate feedback ☺️😊🙏
I think the cable is a huge missed opportunity here. If they added a single point 3.5mm you could use a boompro mic and make it one of the best headsets for the money. I think every headphone that is easy to drive should consider the possibility appeal to a larger audience (gamers).
Stay tuned for later this month at my channel! I will have something exciting to share
@@GadgetryTechfinally a duel point 3.5 boom mic cable?!
There is a a dual point 3.5mm cable boom mic by strauss&wagner, cable name is spiez 3.5mm to 3.5mm with detachable 2pin boom mic, €47.95
Very interested in these. However, I already have the R70X’s….anyone used both that can weigh in?
Based on frequency response they seem warmer and have better bass extention than the R70x, actually looking very nice for dynamic open back headphones. I also use the R70x daily, one of my favorite headphones.
@@ROCKSTAR3291 appreciate your reply. I do love the R70x’s from a comfort perspective. I WFH and daily drive these as well, love the imaging for FPS gaming. I may give these a shot based on your comments on frequency response. Thanks!
Man can't understand u please I'm begging u what is the best overall iem love you Joe ❤❤❤
I'm normally not a cable believer, but I think it sounds punchier with their copper cable, but that could also be the 4.4.
Depending on what you are using, it could be a number of factors. Some amps have a different output impedance in balanced mode, so you may be observing a higher OI, which has a chance of adding a small bass shelf. That's just one idea anyway
in what world open design lives in audiophilic circles?
Wеll, always! Like
best headphones under £200 for gaming?
Hd 560s
Save up and get the Aune AR5000 are the very best for the price bracket, nothing compares. I had Sennheiser 280 pros and they were nice but they were extremely uncomfortable around my ears, they dug into my earlobes and after a few hours, my ears would hurt for days afterwards. The Aune AR5000 are extremely comfortable and have the sub bass that Sennheisers don't have.
"LCD GX by Popular Demand" ❤
@@skeza2496 I got one :). Soon my friend
Too heavy and goofy looking even if they sound great.
Would you get these over the Auduze Maxwell for gaming?
Resolve sent me.
I remember my old Sennheiser HD280s that were terribly tight and ate into my ears. Good sound quality for the price but terrible comfort.
So is this better than edition xs for gaming?
If you have an Edition XS already, I would not purchase the AR5000 and assume it's going to be significantly better for gaming. If you do not have either, I would personally prefer to plan on the AR5000 between the two.
@@GadgetryTech Thanks Joe you're the best!
@@GadgetryTechhi, do you recommend it for music production?🙏🏻
Any wireless version of this?
First
I didn't get on with these at all. Ear cups too small and I have small ears.
i wonder if these are better than the Audeze maxwells for gaming and music
