I've never noticed any claustrophobic staging or bass extension issues with my HD 6XX. They aren't "issues" It just seems like you're into that V-shaped sound signature with a dip around 1-2k.
@@ChrisStoneinator I feel like it's worth mentioning that my hd600s serve as my "daily drivers" and spend more time on my head than most of the rest of my collection. As much as it's a fantastic set of cans and it spends a lot of time on my head, it's not wrong to want a different experience from what it provides. The vocal intimacy and natural timbre definitely makes for a great listen, but I don't think I'm the only one who wishes it could more believably recreate the sense of distance and layering that can be found in other headphones. I get that it can be a "one or the other" type scenario where it's hard to have both, but I ultimately believe it's a great thing that there's another headphone that can provide that full and neutral midrange experience with a greater sense of spaciousness without resorting to the excessive 1.5k carveout that hifiman headphones resort to. The HD6 series will still be there for those of us that enjoy it, and there's no harm in another option being out there for those who want something similar with some different affectations. As far as the bass extension goes, I have a harder time painting a nearly 10db dive from 100 to 20hz as a positive. One could argue that it forces focus more towards the mids, but I can't consider a headphone reproducing sound at a more accurate level to the original recording to be a fault
@adsads5143 No, it doesn't have sufficient base extension. Some people eat dog food because they think it tastes good. Simple have lower and higher standards, and you are a dog food eater.
Mine just arrived and am using your EQ Profile ( thanks for this!) and am already in audio heaven. These are PERFECT for me. It's like they made these specifically for me. This is my endgame. for now. Highly recommend these!
The one thing I don't seem to agree with is resolution, unless you mean frequency response makes it feel more detailed. Put on a loud busy track and the HD600 mushes it together slightly less. The Sundara is on an entirely different level here. Aune also has compression in the bass so it has an approximation of loudness curve when you turn the volume down the mids don't pop out even louder like on the HD600.
Oh wow! I've had a pair of these for over 3 months now and I've definitely been loving it so much that it's become my daily driver. Glad it's now getting more coverage in the west... it was super hard looking for English reviews for this headphone, when it was still relatively new.
Great review! Although there's one thing not mentioned in the video and this is for anyone looking to buy this pair: these headphones are INCREDIBLY easy to drive.
My SR7000 came a week ago - burning in with a Shanling M8, but even out of the box they are really good. Closed back with an open back presentation and nicely balanced. Need a month with them really, but so far so good and great value for what you get.
I heard them at Munich High End, found them very good. Actually the FR is similar to the HD560S, but to my ears a better version of that (no fatigue in the treble). Better comfort, better build and looks awesome. Like some old Beyer design from the 90's. And they sounded awesome on the Aune S17Pro...
I tried them initially on the AVS trade fairs and liked them a lot, but also have tried a lot of other high-end headphones so wasn't really sure about my memory of they sound. Your review finally convinced me and bit the bullet during black friday discout. They are excellent and your EQ profile takes them to next level, thank you Andrew :)
Thanks a lot for the video and the EQ profile. Really compelling option! Looks like a better HD600/650 with EQ considering the better build and comfort.
I would like to hear your opinion about the new Aune SR7000 closed back headphones. I just received my pair today, and from the first listen, WoW, the best closed back headphones I've ever heard! Hopefully this one is in your reviews list.
Me! I am people looking for this sound signature. Nothing makes me sadder than hearing what is like someone taking an ice scream scoop to the mids. Thanks for doing this review! Adding these to my collection.
I feel like the HD600, AR5000 and Sundara are the best on these terms, the Sundara having the most scoop but the most mild one of any hifiman out there, like under half as much and more in line with the HE-1's mids. The Sundara sticks out as having the best technicalities by a mile in busy tracks and the Aune has a fascinating bass compression that means at low volumes you lose less bass response due to fletcher Munson meaning it has a loudness compensation built in. Might indicate higher second harmonic in the bass though, which is the much more pleasant kind that tube amps add. HD600 has very slightly better technicality than the Aune but it's also missing the bass that adds to the mess in busy tracks, so it's not so even a playing field. They're all pretty solid headphones though, and I have all 3 for some reason. HD600 for cheap because it's an old robin egg one with scratches, and I know it'll last forever, the Sundara for technical prowess, and Aune for general use since it's easy to drive and easy to listen to at any volume. Of all 3 I might choose the Aune if I could only have one, even though the Sundara sounds better especially with some mild EQ, it needs an amp even without EQ for quieter albums like pink Floyd or such.
I just bought this for my iBasso DX180, I also bought the aftermarket Aune 4.4 copper wires for it and it's a no brainer. It's easily the best $300 headphone on the market.
I'm hearing this on my first day having them, and you should really consider them seriously. I'm loving them more than I thought I would. I did try many headphones in their price range, and also above and below, but these were immediately more pleasant to my taste compare to both the Sundara and the HD-600; no contest for me. If you really want and amazing sounding, super-easy to drive, headphones, this is the pair for you.
Can you please review Fiio ft1? Thanks. Also fyi. I think you didn't touch is how important the way you wear the headphone affect the soundstage. If you move it front the sound stage would be more intimidate making it sound like coming out of your head. If you move the headphone backwards it sounds super grand. I own these imo Its my favourite headphone all time. Aune ar5000 give me a wow factor because of the soundstage.
Hey, great work, loved the video. I just had a little request, can we have a refresh video of review of Sennheiser HD599? They're still very much popular in the market and just wanted to see how it compares to the other top contenders in the market!
great as always, as the holydays come i want to buy a headphone in the US$300 range, but to be honest im kind of new in the hobby, i hear a lot of mentions of treble, bassheads, extention, i get all of that, of course in new, well recorded albums, but im full on 60's, 70's classic, progressive and phycodelic rock, so not at all well recorded...will headphones like this be an improvement over my he4xx, or a new way of hearing things or with the quality of the recordings i listen does not matter?
@@ricenoodles632fascinating. I have the Sundara and I find it a better sounding headphone even if the Aune is better for lower volumes thanks to the bass compression loudness curve effect. The detail on busy tracks is way better than the Aune and the Sundara has really good tuning overall, though slightly worse soundstage it's a lot more than the HD600 still.
@mikafoxx2717 I only speak for my own experience. I did not like the sound of XS. Sold em within 2 months. Was happy to buy an AR5000 with 90% of the money I got back from selling the XS. The soundstaging was amazingly expansive but also felt unnatural. They were antagonizing to poorly mastered tracks and intensified the sibilance (the ss and t sounds). Even fairly simple acoustic tracks sounded off and unpleasant. Idk if this is a planar characteristic. I own a planar IEM (Artti T10) and don't have the same issue. Quite the opposite, in fact, as the Artti T10 is my favourite IEM. They did perform very well with new age and ambient music. I don't listen to classical music so I didn't test much of it with that. As for detail retrieval, I guess it's better than the Aune, but honestly, I wasn't particularly impressed with the overall sound. To my untrained ears, I don't hear what's so special and magical about the XS other than the huge artificial soundstaging. I didn't mind the QC issue. The screws did come off rather easily on the sides. They loosened every time after I put them on and took them off a couple of times.
I bought the AUNE AR5000 and am underwhelmed. To clarify I expected shimmering high end, and you covered that point. I do hear the harshness in the top of the mid. But not being a fan of too much emphasis on the bass these are fine. It's not the headphone I hoped for, but perhaps from watching your channel I can find what I'm looking for.
Anyone ever figure out how to take the earcups off? Mine need to be washed badly and I dont want to end up breaking them, something already cracked trying to pry them off.

Waited a loooong time for this. Ok just half a year, but still. I am very annoyed that this is now around $255 where I am during sales... when I coulda bought them for $215 at one point, months back. Was hesitant to pull the trigger since the HD600 and Edition XS are both available for about $260-280. If these somehow get to even $230, I will order them with no hesitation. As tempting as the Edition XS os at that price point, I have an HE400SE. So the Aune would be a nice change of pace.
I just bought a pair for a sale price of $210. But even if you can no longer get that price I would still go ahead and buy them. They are better than hd600 and he400se. I also prefer the Ar5000 to the Arya Stealth. Best headphones i ever tried. Everyone should buy a pair.
Can someone help me? there is a frequency spike that is very bad for me and cannot tell, on my Sundara i dont hear this (except that treble spike). Which frequency can it be ? Is it the midrange? L.E: nevermind, i found it, it's 4500hz.
Hi. I have been loving my HD 560s which I bought in recommendation of this channel mainly for the soundstage as I\m into orchestral music. Do you think this is a nice addition? Thanks
Let’s put on my Aune AR5000 and listen to this review! :) The AR5000 was a surprise to me after trying so many and disappointing Hifiman/Focal/Beyerdynamics cans in the past. It felt immediately nice for both sound and comfort. I am quite sensitive to all ear pads/headbands but this one is near perfect. After 30-40 minutes still start to feel some discomfort on the tip, but in general one of the best fits I ever tried. The sound. I liked it very much from the first day and was amazed by the realistic presentation. My playlist songs stated to feel alive again. It was a joy listening to my favs all over again. The mids are indeed very forward, but in a “boxy” way like some recent Beyer or planar headphones. I still like the midrange better on my Beyer DT 770 Pro (250 ohms) and probably the smoother HD650 if I am in the mood. (I never liked the HD600…) I wouldn’t call these treble-shy or “smooth” headphones. Mine sounds pretty bright with almost all my amps. But that could be also the upper mids… so in general still sounds clean and detailed to my ears. It is bright, but not sharp sounding. I only miss the bass… :( None of the sources I used gave me enough low end, unless you increase the volume to crazy listening levels. I miss the body and grunt of those low notes and after a few weeks this become quite obvious. I tried it for gaming and movie watching. For gaming It felt less engaging. I didn’t find it as accurate as my Beyer DT770 Pro. Bass was lacking obviously. But still sounded WAY BETTER than a Audeeze Maxwell in all aspects. (I don’t understand the hype around that headphone anyways… yes I had it) Movies were a nice and big, almost like a good home cinema system, especially if you able to add low frequencies into the stereo down-mix. All in all, this is a great looking, comfy and very convincing sounding headphone for a very good price. The sound in general has a nice big scale feel which you don’t really get with most of the (cheap) headphones. If you don’t need much bass and want an all-arounder just go for it you won’t be disappointed.
I have a question: Did ar5000 sound well for imaging and soundstage when gaming for games like cod, r6, val and etc. Idk if it's worth a pickup or any other recommendation?
@@chief5abi Personally I would not pick these headphones only for gaming. They sound okay, but not as directional, fast and detailed as the a Beyerdynamic. All the sound effects will feel a bit "compressed". I play the recent AAA games so could try it with a few. They are open back but it won't feel that wide or spacious. But if you want one all-arounder headphone, the Aune is still a good choice.
@@kutasimusic any recommendation in a similar price range. I don't know which headphones to pick open back or closed back which one is better for fps games or just preference?
This headphone has enough bass for me but I'm used to open-back headphones with insufficient bass, such as hd600 and he400s. I also have hifiman Arya and this Aune is overall better than that.
Perhaps you do listen before measuring, but do you also take a look at other peoples measurements for the product before listening to it, influencing expectation?
It seems the same headphone at the background next to that maybe SPL phonitor? look kinda hifiman susvara 🤣 It would be completely weird if I wear something seems like susvara but it's not lol!!! Maybe someone wouldnt care about that, but myself clearly feel weird to wear before hearing the sound...
This headphone imo suit kpop very well. Especially vocals idol like Taeyeon , IU. It's just amazing. Fyi depends on how you wear them it affects the sound stage
I think with this headphone it’s not about frequency response so much, and I know a lot of ppl would complain about this with me, BUT it has just the most NEUTRAL tonal representation I’ve ever heard in an headphones. And I separate these two things always, as they are different aspects for me personally
No thanks I think I'll stick to my HE1000 SE. It has nice bass mid-range and treble and very nice sound stage. The only problem with it is it's too addictive. Once I start listening to music I can't stop and things I should be doing don't get done.
@@dangerzone007 I actually was going to buy the HE1000SE but The Headphone Show put it in C-tier sound w/o EQ. They said Susvara is S-tier sound and that costs $6000. Maybe the HE1000SE sounds much better once EQ'd or broken in but I'm not going to spend $1500 on a slightly used pair if it's going to give me Superman hearing and drive me crazy.
The bass is quite good (at least, from an extension point of view) for a dynamic open back at this price: if you want boosted bass it's better to get either a iem or a TH variant (th-x00, th-610, emu-teak), if you want flat bass till 20hz get a planar
@@barbasour You don't have to. I have a thieaudio ghost with my zmf eikon eq applied (through peace and eq apo) to it with tweaks for preference with these headphones and they have pretty strong bass quality and quantity. They sounds pretty damn good for an open back (not great without eq though) with the eq applied to them anyway but obviously the eikon I have still do bass better but not by much which is insane when you think about the fact that the eikon cost like 10x as much money if not more (at least they did here in Australia anyway).

has anyone compared the ar5000 with the elex?
How is the soundstage compared to the same price range ?
Ananda Nano or this?
Aune AR5000 vs Ibasso SR3 vs Focal Hadenys?
Interesting... Might have to find a demo
Let’s put on my Aune AR5000 and listen to this review! :)
The AR5000 was a surprise to me after trying so many and disappointing Hifiman/Focal/Beyerdynamics cans in the past.
(I never liked the HD600…)
I wouldn’t call these treble-shy or “smooth” headphones.
(I don’t understand the hype around that headphone anyways… yes I had it)
Movies were a nice and big, almost like a good home cinema system, especially if you able to add low frequencies into the stereo down-mix.
@@dtz1000 Do you really find the Aune better than a Hifiman Arya? I am just about to pull the trigger on a Hifiman Ananda. Is that a no go then...? 🤨
Auuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune.. this is now an earworm. Thanks for that….
love them for jazz vocals not harsh at all, nice vocals. Not for a metal heads though
Sounds like the perfect headphones to use when you want to take a nap.
Perhaps you do listen before measuring, but do you also take a look at other peoples measurements for the product before listening to it, influencing expectation?
No he doesn't. He goes in blind
@@Mishael_Agyei-Boamah some products print it right there on the box. Never sneaked a peak?
@@RocketLauncherwithInfiniteAmmo no because he doesn't believe in any graph that doesn't document what coupler and compensated target response.
900 pro x is half the price of hd 600 where I live
Anyone know if these headphones would work well for mixing?
yes they'd work incredible
Best ASMR headphone (
Waiting for sr7000
got sivga luan over ar5k like 3-4 month ago just cos v shape
Finally you like something 😜😜🤘
Nvm, people are still going for hd600.
More bang for buck than the Hifiman Edition XS???
curious about this too
It seems the same headphone at the background next to that maybe SPL phonitor?
look kinda hifiman susvara 🤣
It would be completely weird if I wear something seems like susvara but it's not lol!!!
Maybe someone wouldnt care about that, but myself clearly feel weird to wear before hearing the sound...
we need midfi closed backs, so many open backs yet I don't see any new closed backs for the most part
Check out the Sennheiser HD620s.
Hey whadya know, another bass-rolled open back. I'm not looking for Beats bass but having basically zero sub bass is gonna be a hard pass.
Of course the guy from NA would buy the AR
Someone should release an IEM and call it Glock. Instant hit
For the record... I'm Canadian. We have very different gun laws.
@@ResolveReviews That's why I said NA. It's a bad joke, I see myself out

best female vocal cans
Have you listened to boy groups much with them? Groups like wayv, nct, ab6ix for example
@Guavawava no
The question is do they slam or not slam?
Since when was that the question?
What kinda forum thread nonsense comment is this
Only hardcore redditors in this reply section. I suggest you two to get a job.
aounne
So i can play games like valorant with these?
I think with this headphone it’s not about frequency response so much, and I know a lot of ppl would complain about this with me, BUT it has just the most NEUTRAL tonal representation I’ve ever heard in an headphones. And I separate these two things always, as they are different aspects for me personally
Everything you've just decribed I to do with frequency response. All technical terms can be decribed by FR because that's objectively what it is.
There are no separate aspects, you believe is sudo science, that's the difference.
@@En_Joshi-Godrez no can’t
A planar just sounds like iron that’s it
@@En_Joshi-Godrez can u stop commenting on my RUclips video that hasn’t anything to do with the topic !! Are you serious?
Sundara is pronounced “soon-the-ruh” with the “soon” part said quickly. Not “soon-daa-ra”.
Who cares
I always pronounce it as "Sun-dara" because it makes the most sense in English

No thanks I think I'll stick to my HE1000 SE. It has nice bass mid-range and treble and very nice sound stage. The only problem with it is it's too addictive. Once I start listening to music I can't stop and things I should be doing don't get done.
Sounds like the AR5000.
Gosh I'd hope so with your $1500 headphones will beat these $300 headphones.
@@UltimateEnd0$300 headphones is slumming it.
Why thanks captain obvious, I'd expect the headphones that cost five to ten times the price of these sound better
Never heard of Aune, but if its from China I am not gonna buy it.
while you type on your audio device made in China.. the irony
@@Mishael_Agyei-Boamah Sorry I dont support communist China. And if you care about freedom and democracy neither should u
There is no democracy, especially not in America.
Yeah but how does meme music sound on them!?
Another expensive headphone that always fails the bass
The bass is quite good (at least, from an extension point of view) for a dynamic open back at this price: if you want boosted bass it's better to get either a iem or a TH variant (th-x00, th-610, emu-teak), if you want flat bass till 20hz get a planar
just stick to your closed-backs
@@barbasour You don't have to. I have a thieaudio ghost with my zmf eikon eq applied (through peace and eq apo) to it with tweaks for preference with these headphones and they have pretty strong bass quality and quantity. They sounds pretty damn good for an open back (not great without eq though) with the eq applied to them anyway but obviously the eikon I have still do bass better but not by much which is insane when you think about the fact that the eikon cost like 10x as much money if not more (at least they did here in Australia anyway).
And how did you come to this conclusion exactly?
It's not expensive and the bass is pretty good on this. It has better bass than nearly all other open back headphones that I've tried.
