Letting the engine idle to warm up for 10 minutes is far worse than just driving as normal because it’s colder for much longer. 30-60 seconds and then drive modesty. Most likely you’ll be waiting at a stoplight or cruising at low rpm so there’s no point in waiting 10 minutes idling in the driveway.

Idk but whenever I let it idle for 5-10 minutes the first drive of the day feels smother than driving it right after the cold start

@@Antonioxbox36There's no way your engine runs differently depending on how quickly it warmed up that day. I agree with OP 100%.

Should be ok if you're not reving the engine, just let it idle without touching the gas pedal. I let it idle until it idles below 1K rpm.

As a mechanic I agree with 90% of what you are saying but with some tweaks to most statements
cut oil change interval in half and use different weight for winter and summer and synthetic oil some shops I trust and have recommended to customers recommend an oil cleaner every oil change but I have never personally done this.
Spark plugs are hard to say but I would recommend 70,000 miles for most cars
Use a PEA additive or top tier detergent fuel
    Keep your car clean
what I disagree with is your AC opinion
your AC will run whenever you use the defrost because it drys out the air a lot, so no need to run in in the winter unless you never use the defroster; do however get ac recharges periodically probably every 2 years and sooner if you drive the car a lot, this will help prolong the lifespan of your AC because ac service involves changing compressor oil which is inportant, and never ever use a can of freon from autozone getting the correct amount of freon in the system from a pressure reading just isn’t worth the risk of overcharging, I know it’s technically r-134a or r-1234yf freon is just a name.
get a safety inspection or just a brief suspension check where they look at bushings every year with your emissions test/renewal even if you aren’t required to do safety’s, this ensures your safety and can help prevent a weak control arm for example destroying other parts of your suspension like wheel bearings and tie rods by exposing them to forces that would normally be absorbed by control arm.
get carbon mechanical carbon (walnut blast) cleaning done every 80,000 miles on direct injected cars
“lifetime fluid” for anything is a lie and you should read forums to get an approximate service interval
    don’t ignore warning lights!
My car is a mercedes-benz with 185,000 miles so far so good!
I also think you should wait till your tachometer drops before driving but 5 minutes seems excessive

@@RudyCarsJust trying to help unfortunately for all of us there’s no guarantee of 300,000 on anything but we can always try some engines are just built better than others; take my mercedes engine is know to be very robust considering its sophistication complexity and performance (it is a M113K) it can actually hit 300,000 and there are tons online who have videos about it; but take a 2.0T audi pre 2014 that engine is not physically capable of 300,000 without several major engine repairs. Same thing with hyundai and kia their engines will just die before 300,000. There are tons of examples of engines doomed to die before 150,000 miles; too many to list.

i aint learn shit about changing oil from anyone except those who DONT change their oil. so when i got my car, guess what i did AUTOMATICALLY? change my oil about 1k miles EARLY. it just made sense. preventative maintenance is the best kind of maintenance, you have less ware on ur engine parts as cleaner oil is better at lubricating. also, if ur like me and like to drive on the heavier footed side (go zoom zoom) u NEED earlier oil changes as your engine is living in the higher RPMS more often, which typically means hotter oil = faster dirty oil. (i drive a camaro at 100K+ miles on her. drive her like i stole her. you need to budget ur finances to take care of ur car. it gets you to work so u can make more money.)

Never let your gas car idle for more than 2 minutes. Most cars are ready to go in 15 seconds. My buick has an oil pressure gauge and that car is ready to roll in about 5 seconds. As soon as oil pressure is built, throttle under 25% for first minute, under 70% until optimal oil temperature after that. Manual transmission oil changes every 30k, and atf oil changes every 30k, filter if necessary every other 30k interval.I have had over 10 cars over 230k miles. I've never had an engine or transmission failure.

You're supposed to change the oil when its clean, not every xxxx miles or x months. When it starts getting dirty change it, if you change your oil and drive around let it warm up come back and check it and its dirty, change it, clean oil is KEY

My car has 430k kms. So around 270k miles. (Toyota Carina).
Can agree on the oil, but i drive about 1000kms per week. So thats about 4k kms(2.4k miles) per month. Changing oil every month isnt really economical, so i change mine every 15k kms.

Open road vs city traffic leads to less wear and tear. Also if you cover those distances in such a short time your oil doesn't deteriorate at all from age related factors. If you drove those distances in start stop traffic you'd probably have some more wear on the engine

as a master mechanic, i will tell you there is NO guaranteed way to make any car last 300k miles. some cars have better DNA than others. you can change the oil in your kia/hyundai every 500 miles and the fluids every month and it will still die at 150k miles.
my mopar 318 can be run without oil and it can be run without coolant and it will still run. try running most modern engines without oil for 10 seconds, or without coolant until the engine overheats and see what happens.
how many daewoo cars do you still see on the road? early 1980s ford rangers? AMC anything? it's not just because they are older cars now, it's because they have poor DNA engineered into them.
my 2016 chevy malibu started pissing oil from the head gasket at only 60k miles. poor DNA? yup, and i'm a chevy guy but this thing has an asian engine in it.

I mean yeah I understand your point. The purpose of the video is to give your car (any car) the best absolute chance to getting to 300,000 miles and or longer. Your DNA point is true, the car can have dna set to 300,000 miles but poor maintenance cuts the life of that engine by half

This is the leading reason for such a high failure rate of the compressor on 10th gen civics. Honda still has it under extended warranty, though as a known issue
