- Despite having only one scoring title, LeBron James has averaged 25 points per game for 17 straight seasons. And one day after 33-year-old Steph Curry became the oldest scoring champion since 34-year-old Michael Jordan, LeBron took to social media claim people often overlook his production for another stat. He tweeted his own scoring accomplishment and said QUOTE: 'Since I was 19 years old! And I’m a pass first guy. Always been. That’s why I’m never mentioned with the greats of scoring huh?? That’s perfect cause I’d rather keep it that way!' Hear what Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe have to say about LeBron defending his legacy.

Lebron has been in the league since he was 18 and played in a soft NBA. Jordan went to College for 3 years, 1 season and a half of retirement and a 3 year hiatus second retirement. Lebron should obviously be ahead in the leaderboards with that many years in the league.
The difference:
Michael Jordan: played in the triangle system that didn't allow him to do as much passing on offense
Lebron: played in a system that was built around him where he runs the point while still being a passer, rebounder and facilitator
Systems have nothing to do with it it’s just another way to bring up jordan and tear down everyone else he was the number 1 option on his team like bron kd kobe curry wilt etc
@SuperPunch76 only time Lebron played in the "Lebron system" is in the 2nd Cavs stint. And those years, the Cavs always had a top 5 offensive rating.
@@johncena4096 No, it actually provides context as to how certain roles fit.
@@johncena4096 No, that's a very casual surface level take. Why do you think Jordan's assists numbers dropped all of a sudden after Doug Collins left and Phil Jackson took over as the coach? Jordan was averaging 33/8/8 on 54% FG in just his 4th full season, playing under Doug Collins and playing ball dominantly all the time. Had he continued to play his career that way, it's perfectly reasonable to think he would have continued to improve on those numbers and averaged numbers like 37/10/10. Instead, Jordan began to play more off the ball, which dropped his assists numbers, but made his other teammates better by doing so as all they would have to do is make simple passes to Jordan as Jordan did all kinds of work off the ball to scramble the defense. In the Last Dance, Jordan talks about this, saying at first he didn't like Phil Jackson because he wanted to take the ball out of Jordan's hands while Doug Collins wanted to always keep the ball in Jordan's hands. Had the ball always been in Jordan's hands though, he wouldn't have made players like Scottie Pippen, Ron Harper, Toni Kukoc better, as they wouldn't have been able to utilize their skills, they would have been relegated to being jump shooters standing around ala Kevin Love/Chris Bosh. Jordan would probably have been something like 3-3 in the Finals instead of 6-0 playing that way. Realize, oftentimes the "creation" of a shot is done by the player off the ball, while the player with the ball just has to make the simple read and pass, and get credited with an "assist."
@UCkvfV5UZPVtMj5MToEbKc3w I've written the same thing before and gotten hundreds of likes, so another L for you casual.
Shannon’s facial expressions are priceless
1:06 when this man said TWELVE...I felt that 🤣🤣🤣
Hmmmm
@Versatile Wolf bro, is everything good at home?
See here’s the thing, when Bron fans say if only he played for a great coach like Phil or Pop, well he had plenty of chances to go play for a great coach plus he wouldn’t be as dominant as he always been with the ball in his hands because Phil and Pop systems were all about moving and sharing the ball getting everyone touches
These fanboys just confused and 6 finals losses doesn’t help them
Lebron doesn't actually want to be coached. He has always more or less ran every team he's been on. Only time he was coached was in Miami, and he tried to get Splostrea fired...but Riley wasn't having none of it.
I have no clue if Lebron could actually function with a coach like Jackson or Pop because they are "system" coaches. What system has Lebron actually ever ran in his career?..
I love this beautiful display of logic & analysis!!! Straight up truth!!!
Great take, he can only play in his own system, he couldn’t play a different way
Spending maybe too many years trying to make Cleveland win earlier in his career may have not been the answer considering what the team was. Imo I dont believe Bron necessarily playing with Phil or Pop would’ve been the answer either.

He’s in that bigs category of guys who get majority of their baskets by driving and finishing in the paint. those guys don’t necessarily count in the same way like guards who score from midrange and beyond, that’s harder.
Its actually not. If you have a strap then you just have a strap. There's no way you can explain to me that shooting the ball is harder than driving through contact and help defense to finish a layup or dunk
@@sleazyotto. uh, there's a reason why shots inside the key have a higher percentage than shots in the mid range and beyond the three point line...

He's not mentioned because ppl see his achievements as Longevity accomplishments, not talent like TMac
💯💯💯💯
However, LeBron's shooting % is higher than KD and Kobe or even Michael
@@HF-eb8kf the majority of the shots are inside. They're fundamentally different shots
@@HF-eb8kf Lebron only scores because he's the greatest PHYSICAL mismatch ever created, you're either gonna be too small or too slow to guard him. He's not a skilled scorer, he's like the dad beating his 7yr old kid in the driveway with all layups.

To average 25+ppg for 18 years straight at age 36 is very impressive
top 2/3 all time by far
Dayum he was 36 for 18 straight years?
Goat by far. Goat since 2016, been widening the gap since. So many accomplishments. What a complete player
@@wheme6061 lol you can’t be under .500 in the finals and be mentioned near goat level. In a 7 game series flukes don’t happen like 1 game is football. Lebron has failed too many times
@@fairtreatment2618 Man the under .500 thing in the finals is a weak argument. It’s still the finals. If your argument was that he’s under .500 in the first or second rounds then fine. But your logic LITERALLY, I do mean literally, makes 0 sense. The only thing that matters there is that he won 4 rings. Imagine counting the amount of times someone loses at the HIGHEST LEVEL as a negative against them. So y’all just be excusing 1st round exits?
Kobe averaged more assists than D Fish those years.
Foreal like the disrespect for Kobe never ends
Most assists by a shooting guard in history. Kobe would never ask people to acknowledge his passing tho lol
@@MrMikelew2929 he averaged like 5 assists a game I hope not
@@MrMikelew2929 not for long
@@MrMikelew2929 if that’s even true
I mean no one said Lebron is not a great scorer but winning 10 scoring titles in 11 healthy seasons is more impressive scoring-wise than 17 seasons with 25ppg. That shows immense consistency and durability. Plus when people talk about great scorers they take into consideration the versatility in which these players score. That's why no one mentions Karl Malone as a top-tier scorer although he is 2nd all time. Oh and btw Jordan averaged more APG in his career than Pippen
That's your opinion to me 25 for 19 years straight is more impressive
When people mention Jordan or Kobe over Lebron in terms of scoring they are talking about raw skills not just numbers
Moving the bar scoring 25 a game for 17 plus years is crazy while running a team leading and assist is un heard of magic did it for ten years never the leading scorer of about three years top let thank sink in with much better talent
@@realbrew6863 lebron dont let anyone play there position everyone and there momma knows that he wants centers to stand outside the 3 point line lmao he makes pointgards to be ball watchers catch and shoot guys to make it clear lebron plays for stats
@@boxingworldswat6247 he is playing with centers and they don’t shoots 3s. You talking nonsense.
That doesn't make any sense a point is a point no matter how you aquire it.
when you talk about the greatest scorers of all time or even currently lebron is never mentioned but you see the numbers he’s put up so LeBron told no lies🐐
That's because as usual it's a longevity stat
You don't get points for growing old in the league when evaluating scorers
Like saying Tom Brady is top 5 passers of all time because he has the most yards. It's not his ability to throw the ball that's giving him these crazy stats lol
He may have perfect mechanics but he's not favre or marino.
@@ericmiller254 facs. nobody doubts lebron longevity. we doubt that he is a top scorer all time. mj averaged 30ppg in his CAREER. lebron averaged 30ppg I belive twice. lebron is a great scorer but he is known for his amazing passing ability not his scoring because he is a much better passer
Karl Malone isn’t looked at in the same manner of Jordan, Kobe, KD when it comes to scoring but look at his numbers. It ain’t just about longevity numbers.
