Back when I was a ten year old and read Super Play gaming magazine, I read about Mortal Kombat and it was about the SNES version. I never thought back then that they would ACTUALLY film actors and use the images for the character sprites, I just thought they were cleaverly drawn somehow on computer. It wasn't until about four years ago I found out about the filming process which surprised and amazed me.
Also, the year after in 94 when Mortal Kombat 2 was being released on SNES, I was suprised and a bit shocked to find about how gory the fatalities were (as I read the description of how they were) as Mortal Kombat 1 on SNES didn't had the blood and while the fatalities were violent, the most gory one was just Kano ripping the heart out of the oppontents' chest.

This is unfortunate ! It would be a good thing...
It is probably due, in large part, to the bad press that all "Full Motion Videos", photorealistic and rotoscopic games have received.
A realistic approach with real models has always been an interesting way to bring together a cinematic experience and the interactivity of games.
Unfortunately, even now there are people and media who react badly to a good implementation of this approach, without consideration for the technical complexity and artistic challenge it represents. A game like Need for Speed is a good exemple of a well executed integration of film and cinematographic ambiance in a game.
Above all, Quantum Break is a major title in this aspect and an excellent game.
