  • Martin Polanco is Founder of The Mission Within and a Veteran Mental Health Advocate and Michael Higgs was Command Master Chief of a Navy SEAL team and is Director of Operations at The Mission Within.
    For a very long time, once soldiers have finished in war, their battles have often continued back home. Both active and retired veterans suffer with childhood traumas, life traumas, divorces, opioid addiction, family issues, Traumatic Brain Injuries, deaths of team members, chronic pain injuries and long term inflammation. Martin and Michael believe that psychedelics are an important potential solution to give suffering veterans another shot at a functional life.
    Expect to learn how iboga rewires the brain in 12 hours, why Michael held a gun to his head after being out of the seals for two years, the insane pressure placed on Special Forces operators by themselves, what happened when Michael ate 20g of mushrooms on a Native Indian reservation, how to sign up to Martin's current studies which he needs volunteers for and much more...

    This has probably saved my ass.
    This discussion is exactly what I needed to hear. It sounded like they were taking almost directly to me.
    And my last 12-years have seen 2 rounds of near lethal cancer battles that resulted in my body getting carved up, losing organs, losing bones.
    To go through everything you go through in life, just to end up having your body taken away piece by piece is brain smashing.
    I know there’s that saying out there about “people that know what the barrel of a gun tastes like”….
    Hard times. I really glad people like these men are finally making some progress with it.
    THANK YOU CHRIS, for bringing it out where more of us can see it. 👍👍

      Thank God you saw this! My heart goes out to you. I don’t know if you ever served in the armed forces, but it’s clear you are a warrior regardless. I’d like to pray for you if you don’t mind. I wish you all good things in your future. Thank you for sharing your story! I know it will help someone. Take care! ❤️

    Podcast episodes like this one are so important. Those who serve our country deserve the best medical care, and traditional pharmacological methods have often times done more harm than good. I'm so grateful that these other opportunities are becoming more available for soldiers, and I hope they become more available for the community in general.

    Chris, I just want to give you some nice feedback...
    Essentially about what a great podcaster and host I think you are.
    I was just on the phone with a friend, recommending your podcast to him again.
    I'm not exactly sure how I got turned onto your podcast earlier this year, but I have been enjoying it so much the past couple of months.
    (My other favorite podcaster is a Chris too; Chris Ryan of Tangentially Speaking. Been listening to him for about ten years now.)
    While initially telling my friend about it a few weeks ago, all I could say in attempts to describe it were the topics discussed on the show, and certain insights contained therein. I had listened to a bunch of your episodes, yet I didn't even know what your name is.
    Only recently did I come to RUclips and see too that you're recording video and everything.
    Then I heard you on Aubrey Marcus' podcast, and so now your name is finally cemented in my head.
    So tonight when I recommended your podcast to him again I could say what your name is, and also that I see you're a fit young guy who's clearly really got it together (in the ways that a person can).
    All that to say, what I really like about your podcast is that I feel like there is virtually no self-promotion whatsoever. There is absolutely no sort of signaling going on, and you seem awesomely secure in yourself. It makes sense, given that you do often seem to try shedding light on the relative frequency with which people do things just for recognition or belonging or whatever other reason, other than actual well thought out truth seeking and dissemination.
    And it's not that your personality fades into the background or that you aren't interesting or charismatic; quite the contrary. But above all, it seems like you are just interested in having great conversations with people.
    So in short: Thank You.
    I think you're doing really great work, I find you to be very bright, you've got a great sense of humor and above all else, it seems that you have no concern about becoming some sort of prominent public figure. Not that I get to be the judge of this, but it seems you have a healthy relationship with your ego. You're not insinuating, "Hey everyone, look at me!" I would say that is rare!
    I appreciate it, and want to commend you for it. You've built an amazing platform, and you're doing with it what's right, imo.
    Keep it up, man!
    Cheers!!

    I discovered profound healing through MDMA. It allowed me to visualize my standard conscious mind as a big house with lots of rooms...some doors locked with lights off. During the experience the lights were turned on and I could explore those spaces without fear.
    We need to de-stigmatize and regulate these psychedelic compounds.

    • @CoolPapaJMagik
      @CoolPapaJMagik 2 года назад

      No we don’t. This is dangerous stuff when put into the wrong hands. People need to let go of this secular worldview, that there’s no God and we came from nothing. It’s an empty existence and it’s no wonder people are spiritually unwell and searching for meaning in everything except religion. Faith heals all, but I understand it’s a big step because the culture has raised us all to believe it’s a “relic of the past” or whatever. They already tried the “age of reason” thing, read about the French Revolution. Powerful people remove Christianity from society for a reason-they want to control us

    How the fuck is this psychedelic therapy not available for our veterans who are blowing their heads off coming back home?? Politicians should be ashamed of themselves! You don’t have to legalize it, make it hospital setting with a psychiatrist and psychologist right beside them in case something happens!

    Modern regular psychotherapy does not work. Therapists have plenty of unaddressed trauma themselves, they are fearful and close-minded. I healed thanks to psychedelics 40 years of depression in 8 months. With the right set and settings, with great people helping me. When you co-create with medicine miracles happen.

    • @MomoSimone22

      Psychotherapy does work for people, just not everyone. There's plenty of people who have benefited from psychotherapy and nothing else.

    Can you connect us to the research that shows brain inflammation reduction and other assertions made. I am very pro psychedelic treatment but as a therapist I worry about statements made that have no backing. As far as stating that non military people don’t benefit from this type of treatment that is just absurd. Military are not the only people who have serious trauma. Ibogaine is the best treatment known for opioid addition and addiction itself can be very traumatic and is often taken to manage trauma. This is the problem when so few people are the spokespeople of a whole new medicine. There is quite a llot of research on LSD from the 40s 50s and 60. This left me uncomfortable. .very impressed by the veteran, not so much by the director.

Grams these doses when i hear about people doing that much i question how is that possible to stay sane after 20 grams… i hear those doses and question myself if i am even able to handle those doses alone or how i would even take 20 grams at once

    God is the way to heal trauma. We are lost in this secular world, and people think they have to turn to psychoactive drugs and pharmaceuticals to fix the emptiness and anxiety they feel. Sad state. Faith will heal all

    • @travislee9396
      @travislee9396 2 года назад +2

      Yes He does and I propose that some mental injuries cannot be healed through him. I don’t want to sound combative with you, but I doubt you’ve suffered like this man has. Or like I have. These drugs being discussed don’t lead a lifetime of abuse. I micro dosed Lucy 6 times and was able to work around my PTSD. And that’s 6 doses 6 weeks apart. It worked and it brought me closer to God. But you do you man.

    • @CoolPapaJMagik
      @CoolPapaJMagik 2 года назад +1

      @@travislee9396 I understand your point, but if you really have faith you will understand that God is in control and you will even be grateful for the trauma. * not that trauma is good, but that it was part of your plan * To be completely candid, I’m not even fully against this approach. I just don’t think it should even be discussed without matters of the heart and spirit being discussed first and foremost. They may help, but this type of cultural movement is actually damaging if you don’t involve God with it
