FW is great yeah. Even today its usually my starting point whenever I return to the game rusty and just need max fights/hour to get the shakes and the rust outta myself.

I thought the exact same when I slid - but I feel like at the end of the day there has to be a reason I am in a videogame, and also flying very cheap fits. For me the motivation is just that there - comfortably being able to slide on fights I know I should lose, just because I have nothing to lose, except some red pixels on a killboard for internet spaceships. I am of the firm belief that denying yourself content is way way worse than denying a potential loss could be good. You are just wasting opportunities to prove yourself wrong, or (statistically way more likely) abuse the mistakes of your enemies (as I mentioned, I am fairly certain a medium range ammo would have blasted me there, if he would have decided to include one in his fit initially)

Nice video! Just now doing aclot of frigate pvp in faction war. Not as easy as you make it look for sure. Most fights are decided in opening seconds. Working to get better. Still learning what fights to take and which to bail...

I totally agree with the beginning being important, but in my opinion it starts way before that: Flying a minmaxed fit, acting upon the strengths of your fit and making a plan according to them, and then as you said picking the right fights. The latter part is mostly experience you will pick up on the way. One thing I can recommend you: Fly a very control heavy ship (Ab Scram dual Web Kestrel for example) where your win condition isn't outtanking our outdamaging your enemy, but instead using your superior effective speed to your advantage to mitigate the damage of your enemy. This will force you to think more about the upcoming fight and make a plan (e.g. Incursus inside --> single web brawler --> need to pull range and stay at like 10 ish km)
I spent about an hour last night running from plex to plex to safe spot with two guys chasing me. One was an opposing militia member and the other was an unaffiliated who just liked being a suspect. Finally I escaped a plex where they both ended up on grid shortly thereafter and started to fight each other. Re-entered about 30 seconds later hoping to kill both but the suspect guy was smart and warped off leaving the militia guy to his fate. It's great when a plan comes together. I don't know if it's my jaded sense of humour but I get a lot of real laughs escaping the same person multiple times and imagining just how annoyed with me they're getting.

Learning about weapons, tank and tracking in FW while flying frigates was one of the funnest time I had in EvE.
