    For years in this game most of my isk was made from exploration, whether it was in wh's or just doing DED sites (or anything else I felt like doing at the time) and it was generally good fun. But over time even that got boring so I also started to use all the stuff I had gathered over time and went into manufacturing and because I found use for them I then did a bit of PI as well. But over the years all the people I used to play with in the game slowly disappeared and not being into PVP finding a Corp that was going to last was getting more and more difficult as the game started to be more and more PVP orientated so 10 years plus in I finally reached the point to call it a day. I'm now 67 years old and still miss it occasionally but its been a few years since I played a lot of the changes they have made over the last few years I find hard to swallow so will probably never get back in the game. But that being said, for new players with the staying power I can still see this being a game that will keep them happy for years so all I can say further is fly safe and have fun.

    What can I say? I love mining. I love being (virtually) in a procurer, chewing down a rock, and dropping it in station until there's no more rock. I love it when Aura says "The asteroid is depleted." Only ten months in this game, went from the venture to the procurer and am looking at the skiff. Soon! This is fun! (Okay, that was weird. Sorry about that.)

      Nothing wrong with mining. I've done pvp for nearly eight years in this game, ran a corp, did highsec and lowsec and nullsec, but I still like getting my alts together and going and grinding down an asteroid belt in highsec every now and then. Not for the isk, cause I really don't need it, but just to enjoy it.

      Obviously you should just sell the minerals. Yeah currently nearly all the basic ammo and missiles are oversupplied and listed on the market below actual manufacturing costs, even for an Omega. Of course an Omega probably has much better stuff to manufacture. People should be looking at what the materials plus fees cost when manufacturing something, unless they are purely in it to gain rep in a faction manufacturing story arc.

  • @highrzr
    @highrzr 2 года назад +13

    Nice video. For me, I enjoy manufacturing. Lately, with CCP's Jihad on small high sec industrialists and small industrial corps I'm finding it increasing difficult to find a reason to continue to play the game. What's good for null sec and the Eve wealthy players is not necessarily good for the average small player. Basically, unless it's an NPC station, everywhere I manufacture, some asshat high sec PVP corp comes by and whacks the structure. This gives the large industrialists and null sec alliances an unfair cost advantage over us little guys. Not sure how much more CCP rectal-cranial inversion I can take.

    • @dag_of_the_west5416
      @dag_of_the_west5416 2 года назад +2

      That's somewhat true and yes currently in Hisec it is probably best to use an NPC station for mfg just be sure to pull up the in-game map and search systems for Mfg cost index and find one low (below 3) before setting up operations. Or better yet just forget all the bother and come back as a ganker and intercept all those valuable trade goods coming from null before they get to Jita. Zkill shows billion dollar haulers with no tank and on autopilot are still happening every week.

Thinking of going back soon and creating another challenge for myself... I play Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen...but there are many things about Eve Online that I prefer over the other games... Ya, My first Market venture was putting up a bunch of buy orders for undervalued meta modules. There are quite a few modules that you can make a lot of profit on when selling their reprocessed minerals. There are quite a few low-value modules with a high drop rate which people just want to get rid of.

When you are scanning make sure you stay mobile as much as possible which not only makes it difficult to find you it also gives you a better chance of spotting anyone else in there with you, also I used to fly into a relic site and then fly out again within 5 or 10 seconds to see if anyone was there waiting to gank me. This was really interesting to watch.
    Part of me hates the grind in EVE and after 4 years of playing, i still haven’t found my niche. There are things I enjoy doing but I have a tendency to over-grind them and eventually lose interest (E.g. L4 missions & Abyss).
    Risk adversity is a huge obstacle in EVE, one that probably warrants a video all in itself 😜. Overcoming this continues to be one of my greatest challenges in EVE and all too often I settle for minor risk for minor reward instead of gambling for a much larger payout.

      I want to try ratting in wormholes, or in these crazy good systems. NPC null missions etc. However, there’s so much risk here and what if i lose my only marauder? Then i’m fucked. The reward is higher yes but the risk is so much higher too. Battleships etc cost SO FUCKING MUCH these days that it almost doesn’t even seem worth it. It only becomes worth it ONCE you already have tens of billions of ISK laying around to keep finding these marauders if you do die, until you make a profit from them. Ask then HOW do you make enough money before that, to get to the point? Doing L4 missions for 2m payouts in a 1b+ ship?? There seems to be this huge gap between awful money/risk and huge money/risk. I’m so scared of losing my ship that i never try anything new

    EVE's not like that. You have spent a certain amount of your Real Life playing the game long enough to get the ship you are in - and if you lose it - that portion of your Real Life - is gone.

    Get a Sabre w/Cloak and camp - Sit on a WH near a trade hub in a Arty Thrasher , at least this way your ALWAYS PLAYING \o/ NEVER GRIND - Eve wont feel like a job

      Anything you do enough to be really good at it - can become a grind.
      Here - a very real part of expertise - is - proficiency. If you do something repeatedly over a long period of time - you develop a greater proficiency at doing it - but - if you stop ... then you lose that proficiency and the only way to get it back - is to once more do it repeatedly over a long period of time. This is the reason that military pilots are required to put in a certain number of flight hours per month. You do things so much - that you can spend your time thinking about WHAT you are going to do - not HOW you are going to do it.
      My greatest personal experience with that was from playing the first version of Planetside and driving a Vanguard Tank. I had two computers and would drive the tank with the keyboard for one and control the gun with the mouse for the other. During the work week I played 4 hours a night. On the weekends and holidays - I played 10 hours a day (or more). I noticed that on the weekends - I got really, really good with that gun. I could put those rounds exactly where I wanted them. Then - the weekend would be over and I was back to "only" playing 4 hours a day. My proficiency would fall off and I couldn't do the things I could on the weekends. Then - that first 10 hour day - I would get my proficiency back.
      I would say that what determines more whether something is a grind or not - is the player. Some players have more tolerance than others for doing the same damn thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over ... Ad infinitum.
      I pretty much hate Mission Running in EVE for that very reason. The same damn missions over and over and over - etc. I run missions when I have to - but otherwise - no. I'm a Miner. If you think that's boring - it is because you are not trying to control multiple accounts and keep those lasers humming on all those ships. You're to busy to be bored.

    As for generating isk passavily I salvage all missions plus mine so I manafactor Rigs, Frigates and Destroyers, ships usually put 50 ships onto the market per order, sell ammo at mission hubs and sell the good loot/salvage from missions, also buy implants and faction ammo from LP store, so I've always got multiple items selling on the market 24\7.

    I started making isk by building Orca's. I was lucky enough to chance across an Orca BPO and used it to build and build with an unlimited output.
    Then CCP allowed highsec to become flooded, unloved while they concentrated on pandering to the big alliances who already had more territory than they needed. No more research or building could be done in highsec without waitsof months for a free slot. the building game was over, especially for the only cap ships that could be built and flown in highsec, namely the Orca and the Freighters.
    The Freighter was a joke though, it was ponderously slow, had absolutely no defensive or offensive capability and just screamed "gank me" to anyone in range. Even a low level tank to hold out while your buddies came to your rescue would have helped a bit. CCP wanted a joke in game so they made one and called it a Freighter.
    Then came the nerfs, one after the other, missiles,nanofibers and many more, making almost all your skilling up totally pointless. Marauders that were specifically designed as L4 mission runner Battleships were nerfed into oblivion, wasting months of skill time and once again, making a T2 Battlecruiser a better ship to do the same missions. The Nanofibers nerf also nerfed the interceptor. Criers kept on about nano ships, failing to realise that a single interceptor fitted out corretly could catch, web and scramble it while your mates ate it for breakfast, yes, I was THAT Interceptor pilot, I know what a skilled pilot in oan Interceptor could do, until they nerfed the Nanofibres of course, then the roles were reversed, the Interceptor becamejust another weak frigate and it did little to really stop the nanoships.
    A comedy of errors, nerfs, pandering to the wrong players and pissing of new players is what brought Eve down. I used to love playing, now, I wouldn't go back if you paid me to play it.

    I used to trade in Jita, made my first 10kkk (actually it was 14 when I got bored and stopped) just by reselling mid-tier implants (those which prices are around 17-23kk each) and some cheap faction modules and ships (10-50kk). 3-4 month in total, one hour per day (half in the morning, half in the evening) to manage orders. Mined some good old veldspar while adjusting orders for little bit more ISK. Trade can be very profitable, but damn it's boring if it's just simple reselling.
    Got myself into research and T2 production (some small and medium ships, some modules, some rigs). In the end it's the same trade, but with more steps and annoying logistics. Which makes it not so boring. :)
    Also doing PP on three chars, which requires 15-30 mins per day of simple mindless clicking and brings in around 500-600kk per month.
    The best of all profits was the last winter event, made around 8kkk in a week or so running battle complexes in lowsec 3-4 hours per day using 250kk cost Praxis.

    The really funny thing is that i took advantage of people like you to make my first 10+ billion isk in the game.
    I looked around and found that certain common low-level mission loot in other regions (not the Forge) were vastly underpriced on buy orders. Instead of a 12-15% markup, it was more like 90+%.
    I joined the 0.01isk war for these items on region-wide buy orders (I found regions where I could sit in the centre of the region to hit the entire region with a 20 jump radius instead of having to set it as region wide which required more skill points).
    I would quickly acquire a lot of this random loot that people just wanted to off-load. I was actually surprised at how many people were just selling the loot from their missions in whatever system the mission was in. Once I built up a decent amount of some of the loot I would raise my buy orders significantly, but still to the point where someone looking for a ~20% markup by shipping to a trade hub would still be interested in beating my buy order (I built my own spreadsheets trying to imitate how other people were building theirs to figure out the price I could get away with raising it to, but still interest people in beating my buy orders). I would then cancel my buy order when it was beaten and immediately sell all of that loot to the person who just beat my buy order.
    Effectively, I could make 800% to 1000% profits in a week this way. I turned a small amount of isk into well over a billion in my first month, allowing me to plex my account. I continued doing this until I found some more opportunities that gave me a greater return on my time invested, as this worked on a small scale but I could not scale it up. There are a lot of opportunities in the game to make isk if you're clever.
    You're right though, once you reach a certain point where a loss no longer stings, the game becomes uninteresting. I remember my first macharial loss stung. I just hopped into a replacement that I already had in my staging area after my 10th one and barely thought anything of it..... And yet, some of the best and most memorable fights I had in the game were in ships like a lowly atron or rifter..... I had way more interesting fights in battlecruiser or smaller ships than I ever had in the bigger ones. By the time I quit I had literally thousands of fully fit ships, and spare implant sets, ammo, nanite, etc, scattered all over the game at various staging points. It was easier to just bulk-buy stuff in Jita and ship it instead of moving my existing stores of stuff around to new staging areas, so I truly have no idea of what I even have sitting in random locations at this point. I was running 21 characters on 7 accounts, and it became more work than play. Looking back, as fun as the game was to play, I'm glad I stopped playing.
