    Can you make a test with VR? Especially abouy their vr compensation and how the real "violent" movement can effect the headsets panels postion compared to your head. My varjo aero weights less than 500g but if i move in my seat up and down rather fast like in your setup, it moves about which breaks immersion.

    • @chepilevski
      @chepilevski  11 месяцев назад +2

      I will try to get Varjo and I have the Valve Index here to see how the software manages those movements!

      @@chepilevski i came from a valve index and i didnt expect much from my 3090 rtx but it can run the Aero at its max in AC, thats 4000x3500 res true to life pixel density! In race(10 cars) i have to turn it down to "normal" which is still good. It takes a week to get used to the smaller Hov. The really small Vov is not an issue in sim racing. Their software is really well optimized. At that high native res there is no need for AA or any prossesioning so its more effcient. I would love to step up to Qubic's system but it need to be bullet proof for VR as i am a die hard VR sim racer.

    I have been building motion systems for over 10 years and agree that speed and accurate tracking is very important. After trying many designs including a stewart platform, finished up building a system which is a hybrid (3 x actuators/G systems) with high powered (1.8KW) 500mmsec actuators that are designed to be stationary/dyno bolted to my garage floor. Therefore only the cockpit moves for minimum inertia. For vision: fixed 3 x 4K 50 inch monitors - also have VR with motion cancellation (wit sensor). If I turn the actuators up they can rattle my teeth and re-adjust my spine 🙂. For long sway and surge, I use a active Harness and seat back driven by quiet DC motors. The whole cockpits roll center can also be adjusted. Good to see that you have lowered your seat for a better roll center, as many get this wrong. All the best and for people who can not build their own the cubic system looks the business👍.

I have ordered a Full motion rig meaning 6DOF where you can feel the power of G-force in all dimensions. Its a self build so it will take me a few months. @nclabs5957 and right you are....I think that 3dof is more then enough for racing. However I will be using the 6dof for flightsims and specifically for helicopter. That said yep of course I will be racing with it and tell you all about it. I think racing a dune buggy will be awesome in it. But just racing on a flat surface will add noting more. 👍 sub so find out..😉

    I am usually not the guy that comments on a lot of YT Videos, but this one definitely deserves a comment. I am thinking of getting a platform motion system for the past 3-4y (owner of a 2dof seat mover right now) and this system and your concept sounds so interessting. You are actually the first guy I am hearing to say that even though your body is fixed with the seatbelts in a real car, that there is still movement going on, what makes a complete stable system also not 100% accurate and this is also why I kind of like my seat mover system. I am really excited for your build videos and your DIY ideas. Brilliant content as always. Keep up the great work and I really hope to meet you one day on the simexpo, but I couldn't make it this year unfortunately :(

    You are the only one of the more gear centric channels that does not simply go for the latest hardware because it exists but you actually ask the question of "what am I trying to achieve here".
    After your FOV video from a while ago this one is another out of the box thing that sounds wrong at first, but after giving it some thought it makes complete sense!
    Never would have thought to move the seat only and leave the rest fixed, but in a normal car, the movement of the car is kinda secondary to your own movement in relation to your car.

    • @chepilevski
      @chepilevski  11 месяцев назад +4

      I know many people will cancel that before even test it but man, I feel first time fully connected to motion sim rig without my brain telling me something is off and try to figure out what the problem is!
      When I was explaining to my friends here what my idea is everyone was telling me it doesn’t sound right but when they seat and actually drive the rig I was hearing only WOW expression 🤣
      I spend like a month exploring what happens to my body in the real car and make so much sense to build it that way , but when I tested it for first time and work a bit with the pitch and roll movements to not throw me around unrealistically like in a boat going trough storm even I surprised myself with the result 🤣

But i also have to say, this is overpriced for 3dof, especially if you consider getting completed sfx150 sets now with sim racing studio for a fraction.

    Congratulations, I find your choice of keeping the wheelbase fixed very interesting. As you mention, it provides your brain with the information of the relative position between your body and the wheel. A couple of questions:
    1. Why did you choose to keep the pedal base on the motion instead of fixed like the wheel ?
    2. What solution did you adopt to ensure that the frame that holds the wheel doesn’t flex and move ?

    • @chepilevski
      @chepilevski  21 день назад +1

      Hey man🤛
      The logic told me must be good choice but the results where really even better then I expected and everyone who tested it was surprised how natural feels!
      One hidden advantage with the new belt tensioner was that now in hard braking, my elbow angle doesn’t changes at all 😃
      I never thought to set the pedals static as in the real car our feet are touching down the chassis of the car as support point but the torso of the body is moving trough the forces against the seat and belts.
      The wheel base it doesn’t move because is attached together with monitor stand, passenger area and goes around the moving rig which seems to be enough to keep it absolutely stable 🤛

      My time’s improved with few tenths but that comes also from the pedals feedback which helps enormously too and I must test that all one bay one and compare!
      The biggest improvement comes in helping me do those laps constantly now which was always a problem on that specific track !

    • @JonFestinger
      @JonFestinger 11 месяцев назад +1

      Should be super interesting. Don't forget to test at various levels (for example 1. an immersion level that values fun and immersion over raw speed: 2. a speed level that just includes that set-up you believe is most likely to make you faster; and 3. no motion). My personal research tended to show that no motion or minimal bass shaker haptics (for slip in iRacing) results in the lowest lap-times. However the sheer response time of the system you tested and very importantly, your feeling that you were faster/more consistent, may well bear out. Either way we will learn a lot. By the way I also did some research with experts and what appears to be the factor that makes us slower is brain overload from too many overlapping (pardon the pun) sensory inputs. Exactly what you said was your problem with previous motion systems you tried. If that is not a problem with your new system, and lap-times are indeed verifiably faster (or even more consistent), that would be HUGE!

      @@marsinko9714 check the videos of Simracing garage and BustedMedia as they both know well the D-box and was both surprised from the speed of the Qubic.
      The velocity speed is greater in QS-220 but I don’t know if you will ever want to use it 😁
      Sure is better on paper but is mostly beneficial for different settings and as a 3dof you n sim rig , the 210 will save you lot of money with the same result in my opinion!

    When the settings are right, and you get use to the sensation, you can't go back to no motion. The experience is weird when i forget to activate for couple of laps. My simrig sr2 is not as fast, and already punches me hard, so i can't imagine yours. But still, I'm not sure i would like the wheel to moving with the rig. I get your point, what you want to replicate. But still, the movement of the body compare to the wheel looks too intense to be realistic in my opinion. The idea i have (not tested yet) to get sustained g force effect, is to attache the rear of the harness to a fix point in the room.Therefore, when the rig moves forward under braking, it will do the same thing as a belt tensioner

    Бро. Я так рад за тебя. Помню ты говорил, что эти движущиеся платформы тебе не особо нравятся, из-за несинхронности действий происходящих на экране и в реальности ( примерно так). И вот наконец ты приобрёл действительно профессиональный комплект. Я много смотрел видео с сим выставок, и система Кубиков почему то запоминается и внушает доверие, в отличие от многих других. Я из России, и у нас к сожалению не проходят такие мероприятия, лишь в мечтах остаётся прокатиться на такой системе. Я завидую тебе по доброму,цена конечно большая,но это оправдывает все, что получаешь от неё, ведь не хватает именно понимания развесовки автомобиля, а уж ездить можно и на более дешёвых базах. Красавчик, спасибо тебе за контент. Я тебе писал как то, что я себе поставил басс шейкер под сиденье, теперь я купил и поставил под педали) ощущения прибавилось ещё больше). Может когда нибудь ты сделаешь видео по настройке их в simhub.

I can perceive myself the difference between 60 and 120 fps, and some people can even perceive the step from 120 to 240. There is a ton of video on youtube doing double blind tests and the results are very clear. If you want to watch one video with summarize all the important point you can look for Linus's video (LTT). Fantastic video and collaboration with Qubic. I have had their QS 220 system for a year now and am still blown away by it, very glad they worked with you on the QS 210 to bring this motion platform to even more people. I use it for flight sim and sim racing and the combination of the very refined software and hardware specifications on the actuators is what sold me over d box which has more setup involved on the software side, less range of travel and less responsiveness on the actuator speed.

    • @chepilevski
      @chepilevski  2 месяца назад +1

      I believe the QS-220 actuators are beneficial for other build like the crazy rig they send to Boosted Media but in normal 3DOF systems maybe only is flight simulators.
      I found myself using the 210 at 20-25% strength to take the details I need without overwriting the FFB from the wheel!
      I must make soon video what I have learned after this extensive use!
      Just to give you an idea, ones at 100% strength of the QS-210 over some bumps my heals detached from the pedals plate! It is so violent!
      I can do few laps like this for fun but no way I can use it like that for serious driving!
      However, I haven’t tested the 220 in 3 DOF but have tested them in other system configurations like in the one ImSim have and they barely used the available power!
      I personally believe all the power and length movements goes waisted in normal Simracing use 🤛

      If you have the funds go for it!
      However, A VERY budget option if you want to add more feedback is shaker pucks (meant for home studios to make bass more intense in furniture) for your road feedback, and Arduino controlled rumble motors on your pedals.
      Pucks are great help for VR imerssion. I'm currently only using 4, on each corner of my rig but they're getting the job done
      The rumble motors are more immersion, but the best feedback I have now is traction loss under breaking if I hit my brakes too hard. It was my biggest problem before I grabbed those

    • @Landril
      @Landril 11 месяцев назад

      @bTabard I got the P1000 peddals and the haptic motors which have been great for feeling abs. When you say pucks is that something like the buttkickers or is it something else?

    • @bTabard
      @bTabard 11 месяцев назад

      @@Landril That is what a sim a particular company calls them (and they sell it with mounting equipment and the electronics to run it which is nice). The audio industry calls them "Bass Shakers" or "Shaker Pucks". You drive them with normal A/V equipment, and hook that up to a soundcard on your PC.
      Then you have a program "SimHub" which translates the telemetry data from the game to the shakers. A 5.1 sound card could drive 6 shakers, since the shakers take the place of speakers in the install.
      With my setup, it ran $170 for the audio driver, 4 pucks, and some cables to connect everything.

I don't feel any disconnect whatsoever between the motion and what I see from the screen or feel from the wheelbase and I find the feedback helps as long as you don't turn it up too much, less is more, and dialing it in correctly is really crucial. According to the specs the Qubic system is quicker, 400mm/s is extremely quick and 800mm/s for the higher priced version is insane. But the mega+ is half the price of the cheaper Qubic so still represents great value.

      @@epsomjames8806 I’m sure most of my bad motion experiences comes from bad settings as in those exhibitions , companies try to impress the users in the wrong way 🙈
      Really glad to hear you feel connected to your as that experience is really next level 💪😃

      Thank you thank you thank you for your input! Been searching for more info on eracing motion setup on the tube. But it’s the usual few videos that have been up for quite awhile.

      @@chepilevski the motors should push your motiviation to a higher level - but i can fully understand - with the Qubic System the Haptic motors have a lower prio :). But still will give you more speed with the feedback as the motion system :).
      But are you still using it? Or replaced already?

    Given that most people turn these systems down substantially, is there not a market for a less extreme version at a reduced costs?

      @@chepilevski i like how you detach the shifters, wheel apart from the rig. it does make sense to me. like the seat mover always make sense to me, but the pedal is inconsistent with just the seat moving. now if just the wheel is detach, it makes alot of sense.
