Hi,we use Goldfish curry paste, but we ad at the beginning, plenty off Garlic/ginger and a tea spoon off Chinese 5spice,it makes a lot off difference. Blessings
I’ve been using that curry paste for years! Gone are the days of expensive Chinese take aways, now it’s simple to make your own and still get the authentic taste.
Looks lovely I a Ways put peas in our curry , and I. So pleased to find out u can buy that brand of curry paste in Tesco and sainsburys , I used buy it from our china town so it's handy to know we can still get it cheers 👍
hey wonder if you can advise... ive tried this curry sauce myself and theres a taste in it i dont like, i'd hoped it would be closer to my local chinese takeaway but it just missing whatever tase they have sadly. Do you know if there's ways to get it closer to the takeaway taste, or is it just not the right stuff? I know everybodys take away tastes different so its hard question.. thanks
Looks really good. I love a Chinese curry and make mine with Mayflower curry powder, but will try the goldfish paste after reading some of the other comments. Thanks for the video.
I’m making this today! Can’t wait. With chicken thighs, mushrooms, onions and peas. Cos I’m skint I’m taking it to work for lunches too. Yummy. Will make some jasmine rice to go with.
Hi. Thanks for sharing. I’ve used this paste for a long time now. It’s the best one around and tastes exactly the same as a take-away. I get it from Tesco or Morrison’s you can also get it from some Asian supermarkets. I always have rice with mine and peas are a must 😊💞
I have never tried Potatoes in my Chinese curry but yours looked so tasty. I use 'Maysan' brand of curry which is also a paste. I love 'cook with me' videos so i'm looking forward to seeing more. xx
Good recipe. What I do different is chop an onion in larger pieces & add after the chicken has sealed. That way they end up will that slight crunch you get with a takeaway. But Indian curry, always finely diced & add at the start
Brilliant Stuff - Goldfish Curry Paste is what is used in thousands of takeaways up and down the country, If you want to get totally spot on with the takeaway experience then use two parts of the regular curry sauce and one part of the 'spicy' curry sauce paste. Obviously big chunks of fried onion and a handful of frozen peas and you have it sorted. Love the idea of chucking the potatoes in! Genius, less hassle. :)
I havent been able to find this paste, but I have been using another paste, and for the first time ever I have added potatoes.... such a simple ingredient to bulk it out, and we loved it.
Looks great, never used potato in mine, but I’ll try. I keep back half a coarse chopped onion to add never the end, it gives a lovely crunchy fresh texture!
We occasionally have a Chinese - style curry from the takeaway. I bought a few of these pastes recently and it is as good if not better than the takeaway! So easy to make too! Good video!
Awesome, not seen that brand before so will look out for that. Love the chopping boards too, will deffo have mushrooms in ours. Only one thing, please don’t take it personally coz I really did enjoy this and appreciate you taking time to pop this up, but, does your hair not annoy ya, lol - look forward to seeing more. Thanks for sharing ❤️😋
The conventional base ingredients for Chinese cooking comes from a combination of soy sauce, rice wine and sugar to balance while Indian cooking prefers the combination from a variety of earthy ingredients like mustard seeds, curry leaves, cloves, star anise, cardamom pods to flavour the oil.
Can you put the frozen peas as they are or do you need to boil them first?ive started university just over a month ago and i wanna have a go at making this,it looks yum😋😍
Just had this for t I have made it before but I could get hold of goldfish curry paste so had to use alternative, I've used the gold fish paste this time and it a nice meal, really filling aswell only 1 plate and I'm stuffed lol.
I always make this curry definitely one of my go to curry brands if I'm not in the mood for Japanese curry. I also always add peas to any Chinese style curry I make.
I followed this exactly but I'm sorry to say you told a huge fib ...... where are the leftovers for tomorrow, clean plates and please dad can we have some more I'd have to make a bucket full to ensure any left overs. Well done great video and thank you
Looks very nice, but there doesnt seem to look very much of it, considering it will be served by itself, for 5 people. I think I might serve some rice with it to make it go further.
I’ve only just seen this video. I shall be trying this at some point this week if I can find a gluten free paste. It comes with peas at my Local Chinese too x
@@Victoria_Foulger thanks I'll give it a go 👌🏻 I only found your channel last night whilst looking for slow cooker ideas. Love your work you explain it well, I've only watched few of your videos and I've got loads to be going at already, I'll be going through them and going back for reference for sure. 😃👍🏻
@@Victoria_Foulger sorry to here about your Dad, I know it's shit losing your Dad mine passed last year. Tried the curry, very nice, kids loved it, will be doing one of them every week, thanks again 👍🏻
I tried this recipie last night. However tweaked it a little but adding less water to the sauce. This gives a more concentrated and fuller flavour! Depends on your preference I suppose. Thanks alot!!
chicken thigh meat is better, boil it in ready boiled hot water for 5 minutes with onions and use yeungs curry powder in the same pot add ginger and chilli paste salt, pepper and a dash of sugar. whisk the powder with a whisk to remove lumps.
Nice recipe... EXCEPT, I would NEVER put potatoes into a Chinese curry. I would (maybe) put potatoes into an Indian curry, but definitely NOT a Chinese curry, as it is not a vegetable that Chinese cooking involves (as far as I am aware).
Hey Vicky, I finally got round to makin it with the concentrate, think I made it thick but saved it by adding a tin of coconut milk , wow was so nice 😋
Hi,we use Goldfish curry paste, but we ad at the beginning, plenty off Garlic/ginger and a tea spoon off Chinese 5spice,it makes a lot off difference. Blessings
That looks amazing I'm gonna try making it myself thanks.
Something else on my list now! Thanks for sharing. Love your recipes x
This sounds great! Thank you

Great idea to use potatoes in place of rice!!
Really easy to follow the recipe thanks !
Adding potatoes to a curry is a nice change. Don't know why I didn't think of it before! Well done.
Looks really good. I love a Chinese curry and make mine with Mayflower curry powder, but will try the goldfish paste after reading some of the other comments. Thanks for the video.
Thank you! I like the mayflower but sometimes It tastes a bit like flour and is quite sweet. The goldfish paste doesn’t have that. Hope you enjoy 😊
Salt lowers the freezing and boiling point of water so if you salt your cold water, your pot will boil quicker. Pro tip! Great recipe xx
Hi
Gonna try this tomorrow thanks for the easy to follow vid and please keep your channel open want to see more Happy new year to you all
Made this loads but prefer with a mix of sweet and white potatoes or just sweet and always include peas - wonderful recipe thank u 🙏
Tried this curry tonight... It's just amazing. Thank you! Cheers from County Kildare 🇮🇪🤗
Nice one. I'm gonna give this a try tomorrow. 👏👍
Sam deffo going to buy some of that curry it looks so nice and potatoes in itmakes a change from rice or chips love franxxx
The best curry sauce
Sorry, but did you say you can get the curry paste from Tesco's in Swansea shame that I live in Thailand but from Briton ferry 🥴good vidio.
Got to tell you that curry looks amazing, 😋
Also the starch from the potatoes will help thicken the sauce!
I’m making this today! Can’t wait. With chicken thighs, mushrooms, onions and peas. Cos I’m skint I’m taking it to work for lunches too. Yummy. Will make some jasmine rice to go with.
It's so nice as leftovers as the flavour matures 😍

Potatoes in a curry? Unsure!
Awful lol
Nooooo
Not even washed or peeled them
The conventional base ingredients for Chinese cooking comes from a combination of soy sauce, rice wine and sugar to balance while Indian cooking prefers the combination from a variety of earthy ingredients like mustard seeds, curry leaves, cloves, star anise, cardamom pods to flavour the oil.
You have a very nice kitchen
Yes gotta have frozen peas 👍🏻
Can you put the frozen peas as they are or do you need to boil them first?ive started university just over a month ago and i wanna have a go at making this,it looks yum😋😍
You can add them frozen 🙂
@@Victoria_Foulger thankyou

Looks great but when you were weighing the curry past you had it set to milk mls instead of weight grams! ❤️
I always make this curry definitely one of my go to curry brands if I'm not in the mood for Japanese curry.
I also always add peas to any Chinese style curry I make.
I am so glad i've come across your channel and finally found meal ideas that me and my two boys would eat thank you for lots of inspiration xx

Well done great video and thank you
So happy you had success!
I use the mayflower powder which do you prefer? 💕
The goldfish is my favourite, the Mayflower is just a bit floury tasting x
@@Victoria_Foulger I look out for it xx
this paste is better try using half milk and half water mix on both mayflower and goldfish .......
I like your new skillet/pan
Congratulations. Very well done and you look like an old hand at cookery demonstrations. Looking forward to seeing more.
Have enjoyed this... yes please some more
Looks lovely, and as for the peas.......it's law isn't it? You HAVE to have peas or it wouldn't be right. LOL
Definitely!
Nick W is the curry sauce a hot one
Just a quick tip, salted water takes longer to boil than unsalted, I'm not sure of the science behind it.
Looks very nice, but there doesnt seem to look very much of it, considering it will be served by itself, for 5 people. I think I might serve some rice with it to make it go further.
I agree, a curry isn't a curry without rice!!!!!!
I suppose you could also use beef instead of the chicken. But I think you need to fry your beef in a small amount of curry paste to add more flavour.
For added flavour and nutients you could use the potato water in your curry paste instead of using rsgular boiled water
Looks yummy. I think I’d give it a try with rice.
I’ve only just seen this video. I shall be trying this at some point this week if I can find a gluten free paste. It comes with peas at my Local Chinese too x
Love the new Friday addition, this looked so scrumptious will definitely give this a go. X
I've tried a few different Chinese curry pastes but I can never get them really smooth in texture unlike the take away style. Yours looks very nice 👍
A good seive works.
Looks great! I love the Tfal skillets and pots too. TFS!
I dont like it when people touches their hair and then the food. 😖
But nice yummy recipe though 👍
Agree! Horrid
Yep, & not just once, several times but talks about separate chopping boards & cross contamination 🤔🤷♂️...always tie hair back when cooking!
Yes please more
Does the paste work out cheaper or taste better than the jars?
Definitely tastes better although a little more work 😁 you get a lot of paste so it Definitely doesn't work out any dearer 👍

I love that Wok shaped pan...gotta admit ....freaks me out a little to see a metal spatula used in it...
I know 🙈 I now have all replaced them all with plastic ones 😂
Gotta have rice with curry
I make mine pretty much the same, Great recipe video i look forward to seeing more X
could u do a curry with slow cooker pls
Yes, this would work in the slow cooker 👍
I've got have deep fried oven chips with this to make it authentic 😂
I tried this recipie last night. However tweaked it a little but adding less water to the sauce. This gives a more concentrated and fuller flavour! Depends on your preference I suppose.
Thanks alot!!
Yes it's always best to change things to suit your own taste, if it wasn't for the boys I'd add lots of fresh chillies 🌶🌶🌶
Yummy other one to try xx
my god that looks grate
Very nice.
Thank you this is the exact recipe I was looking for.
Will make it this week for lunches at work.
Thank you! It's so nice and simple too 💙
Food looks yummy 😋
Can’t wait see more recipes 😊
Looks delish 😋
Looked very tasty, I'm going to try that curry paste! x
Yea, it is brilliant - got to be Goldfish though.... every Chinese takeaway uses it!
This looks absolutely lush I'm having creamy chicken tarragon for dinner thank u Vicky have a great weekend xxx
Looks delicious I'll definitely be trying it xxx
to make it look more authentic you can try to add carrots.
Nice 1
Does this taste different to the ,mayflower sauce?
Yes I find it tastes less powdery and is more intense
I'm from the Caribbean so I rather my curry powder
Can you use curry powder instead of paste?
Yes that would be fine, just not as much liquid x
Love it. Thanks love.
aww bless her heart good video!! need mushrooommmsss though!!!!
Yum. I make one very similar.
chicken thigh meat is better, boil it in ready boiled hot water for 5 minutes with onions and use yeungs curry powder in the same pot add ginger and chilli paste salt, pepper and a dash of sugar. whisk the powder with a whisk to remove lumps.
Looks wonderful!

Maybe not traditional but try it, you might be surprised 😋
Different chopping boards so there is no chance of contamination? What?
Wow this chicken curry looks so yummy. Thanks for sharing. I am going to make this for my family darling. More recipes please. Love your channel.
Thank you! We're aiming to upload a new one every Friday and there's 5 up already 💙
Hi Vicki, have you tried the mayflower powder ? If you have what is your favourite as I’m yet to try the concentrate you used 👍😉
I prefer this brand although I do use the Mayflower one too. I find the Mayflower a bit flour tasting if that makes sense?
Thanks Vicki , I know exactly what you mean , gona try the concentrate this week x
Hey Vicky, I finally got round to makin it with the concentrate, think I made it thick but saved it by adding a tin of coconut milk , wow was so nice 😋
Yum, I have that from the takeaway sometimes!
