- A true Wyoming wilderness adventure by horseback. A group of 3 men and a outfitter headed into the Washakie Wilderness at Deer Creek Trailhead just southwest of Cody, Wyoming and traveled through Teton Wilderness of 8 days, 132 miles on horseback. On their journey they spent time in the Thorofare drainage, Bridger Lake to fish, Two Ocean Creek to explore, Crator Lake to fish cut throat trout and concluded the journey at Turpin Meadows.

This is so great it reminds me of my 2017 trip out Deer Creek Trail with friends Rich Herman,Ben Masters and Val plus others. I wish to someday go back. It's so peaceful back there and the fishing is GREAT. I'll be back. Keep up these videos ,please!
I just came out of the Yellowstone River head waters. We found it. Went over Deer creek pass again and Marston pass. Unbelievable pack trip with horses. I will produce it this winter when I have time. Watch for it. We did the back door into Yellowstone last year. That is on my utube channel. Thanks for your comments
God,I wish I were young again! Beautiful!
Magnificent ride. Beautifully done. Thoroughly enjoyed. Never experienced that part of country, but sure made me wish I could tack up & ride that trail. Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful scenery, thank you for a great video.
thanks
Love these videos of the horseback riding and camping with the beautiful scenery and good times with friends. The fishing is good too!
glad you like it
Such beauty, fabulous vid, and thank you for no horrible soundtrack music, just trickling water.
Thank you for this trip through Wyoming’s back country. I feel like I was with you and you have the perfect background music.
I wish I was much younger and I would have been able to participate in this type of holiday, and enjoyed the outdoor camping with constant changes of lodges and tents for camping, well done for a most enjoyable film of your trails and the company of friends.!! Keep them coming!
Glad you enjoyed it
Breathtaking scenery & the background music was perfect, and, just that, in the background not overtaking the sounds of nature...loved every moment, thank you!!!
Terrific video presentation. Tribute to a very special and hard to access area, especially up from Deer Creek TH. Music, photochormic work, interspersed stills and videos. Top notch. Many thx.
Beautiful beautiful pictures, sounds of nature and soft flute in the background. Excellent. Just loved every bit of it.
I can only imagine how fulfilling and rewarding experience this would be. Such beautiful country and wide open spaces. Thank you for sharing would so love to have been along.

I consider this as real vacations, in the true sense of the word. Being out there in the nature, breathing pure and fresh air the whole time. Being one with the surrounding nature. And of course the enjoying over and over again of spectacular views. Having the time to fish in the lake and enjoying the catch. So perfect. This video is very well made and the choice of background noise/music is perfect. Sitting around the camp fire and singing a song, so enjoyable. Thank younfor posting this. I hope I’ll be able to join a similar expedition once this Covid-19 thing is finally over
But they forgot the sound of those flying grass hoppers that we saw everywhere.
I once spent 12 days camped near Hawks-rest. The coyotes were thicker than the mosquitoes. It was a wonderful trip except for losing sleep to the coyotes at night. We had a few grizzlies hanging around once we had game hanging, but they didn't do any damage excepts perhaps for my nerves.
In the end of August there was not any Bears were less this time also
Thank you for sharing your adventure with us .
Our pleasure!
Beautiful ! Thats living large !
it was fun
Love to go on a ride in your beautiful country it’s so different compared to Australia’s landscape the abundance of water is amazing
Enjoy your videos Roger and crew! I've been riding different wildernesses for over 30 years. Although we only pack one night and ride back to camp the others, we have a great time! I regret that most of the guys that ride with me are bailing out and it's getting harder for me to organize the trip not knowing if anyone at all wants to go. Hopefully I can continue to have at least one guy who wants to go. I would miss not going to the wilderness at least once a year.
I do know what you mean it is hard to find other rides to go along sometimes. They do bail out at the last minute. Well I enjoy it I love it I keep pushing sometimes I go by myself. I have a ranch in Colorado place in Pinedale Wyoming. If you ever want to go riding in the mountains let me know. Horsecamp27@gmail.com
What beautiful sights God has created for our enjoyment

I am in south-central Colorado in the mountains drought here No rain. I am thinking about going back to Pinedale Wy for the rest of the summer have a place there
Roger Cain sounds like a good plan ...I sure would like to get further north out of this heat
I absolutely love your videos.
I'm so glad! thanks so much check other videos on channel
I use to take ppl out on wilderness pack trips, always turned into a big babysitting job! (lots of bandaids required for the city slickers) Looks like you have a good string of mules! Good luck!
Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you John Peterson and especially Roger Cain for putting together such a long image intensive video, the editing must have taken a long time. I was impressed with the length of the video showing each day of the journey in depth. Most videos of a horse packing trip are far too short. Thank you also for the music and sound effects that you used which were appropriate to the place as it was in the footsteps of Bridger and Carson and the native Americans who preceeded them. Most music is way too loud and obnoxious and serves no purpose other than being an unwanted distraction in a video.
Fully agree with your comment
I did a horseback trail ride 30 years ago in Oregons Strawberry wilderness area. Very beautiful an rough country. Seen Elk wallows BEAR tracks( Black bear... )No Elk but seen but plenty Deer

Great job by Carl Sauerwein and Boulder Basin Outfitters.

Great video boys. Wish we would have been at the trail head when you came out and met you.
Photography was excellent and so was your choice of music.
Happy Trails.
My Greatx4 Grandmother was almost kidnapped on the Yellowstone River in the 1830s...Kit Carson shot the kidnapper after a fight with the Blackfeet there.Documented,my Greatx4 Grandfather was Uncle Jack Robertson, buried inside Ft Bridger at Carter Cemetery....Your riding where he did over a 150yrs ago....Wish I was there
Our family has been in Wyoming since 1826...
What a great story that would be Thanks for watching
38:05... Where are we going.... I do not know and i do not mind... Go ! Just ride and love Wyoming... The rest is not important !
Great video and great country! How do you get the effect on the pictures that make them look like paintings? The first one is at 1:12. I wish I could convince my wife to move to Wyoming!
Some cameras have a art setting that stretches the color
Interesting and thank you for replying.
What did this trip cost you guys? Your horses or their's?

How do trout get into those isolated lakes?? Are they stocked? Looks like you had great weather for your whole trip; very smart to have those two dogs along .
Yes, they are stocked. You should read "Wind River Trails" by Finis Mitchell. Finis stocked the lakes up in the Winds east of Pinedale, WY back in the 1930s.
Thanks for your reply!
Sometimes they just find a way somehow
also fish eggs on ducks feet when they fly from one water to and other water
Terrific video! Perfect choice of background music and sounds. If I wanted to go on a trip like this who would I contact?
Cheers mate and happy trails
Boulder basin outfitters out of Cody Wyoming
First time I have ever seen this..never knew I was in it!! 😂
What part were you in? Or should I say which person are you?
Beautiful. Looks like late spring-early summer, is that right?
3rd week of August. Very dry that year. Would like to do it again in a wetter year more green. There was no bugs on the trip
Can you solve in under ten minutes .....?
A man ( or woman ) bought two horses for €860 .
By selling one at 3/4 of it's cost price and the other at 4/3 of it's cost price, a total profit of €30 was achieved .
How much did each horse cost ?.
sorry I couldnt
in grizz country with no rifle ?
No rifle did have pistols But did not see any Bear We were to noisy with all those animals
