Your videos make me so happy! There are so many elements from the children and your recipes, but the best part is your smiling face that is such a reflection of God's love. Thank you!
My fav thing about this channel is it’s not about your fancy kitchen. Or bragging about all you make. You just knock out volumes of food with a smile. 🎉
Kendrick has stolen my heart. My grandson is 34 and reminds me of him exactly as I’ve watched him grow up. This has been a real treat for me, since he is my only grandson. I now have 2 great grandson but neither one is this much like him. Kendrick warms my heart.
I love how you use everything, no waste….like letting the boys clean the bowls and beaters (no waste there by the way they clean it up BEFORE they wash them) and also how the boys help do their part in speeding up the wrapping, by eating as many as they can before they are wrapped, that way less to wrap!
I grew up in South western PA. Your lifestyle reminds me of the way we were raised. We milked 52 Holstein cows. We started milking at 4:30 every morning and 5 in the evening. My mom made everything from scratch. I cherished all the skills she taught me. I have taught my childern the skills I learned. I love watching your channel. I reminisce on years past. Thank you. God Bless you and your family.
I’m a Pa Dutch girl who grew up near Lancaster and we ate Whoopie Pies like there was no tomorrow. This brought back such great memories. I truly love the Zimmerman family SO much….❤️🙏🏼🤗
I'm so glad I found your channel. Your videos remind me so much of my childhood. I hated every minute of gardening/farm life. Now as an adult and grandmother, those were my best memories and I wish I could now give that to my grandchildren. FYI, my grandmother made whoopie pies all the time and she would change the flavor.
I may be the strange one I never had a whoopie pie!! The waffle ones look so good!!!!! For breakfast I could really see making them. All of my children are grown, I now enjoy cooking for my grandchildren.
That’s exactly how I feel. I thought my childhood wasn’t awful-gardening harvesting canning making butter and such but this was my best years! ❤️🙏🏼Leslie-Florence Alabama
I grew up in a city back in the 70’s, I had divorced parents and rarely seen my dad. My mom worked many hours so I was home with no parents and a mean sister, I dreamed of living on a farm and having a garden! I guess we all want what we don’t have 🤷🏼♀️ I’m now a gardening and canning freak !
Whoopie Pies!!! My daughter called them "woofie pies" when she was little, and they were a favourite from the little Mennonite store near us then. Will have to try making these for her!
What a beautiful family vlog done by the family on Good Friday making whoopi pies, they looked delicious & I have never ever tried a whoopi pie because I’m in Scotland and we don’t have them here. I’m beginning to think that this granny could be making a “single” batch of them one day. I love the relationship between Harrison & Kendrick true brothers at heart, the joy of Harrison seeing the waffle whoopi pies and immediately shouting on Kendrick to come because he would be so happy to see what was there. I love Harrison’s gentle loving tough to his mama but also to his big sister Stacie arms open wide for a giant hug and the love is given back in spades. It is a joy to watch your beautiful family , thank you for opening your door to us 🩷🌸
You have no idea the joy that your videos being me! I love to see Harrison, who seems to be in the kitchen with you pretty often. He sure seems to like his food. I think he may grow up to be the cook in his family, lol.😂😂
All your hard work has paid off. You have a beautiful wonderful family. There is so much honesty in love in your eyes. I feel blessed that your channel came on my stream. I am currently obsessed with Amish Canning practices and use all the recipes that you've put on the channel. You are living my dream and i hope to get there one day and have my own little corner of land for my family!!😊 thank you
Well said! 👍 Doug and Stacey have an off-grid homelife and live in Amish country but are not Amish themselves. Maybe that could give you some ideas. This channel is terriffic! I am a new subscriber but am impressed with her videos and her kids are so well-mannered, yet still kids. I hope tgey don't have accidents needing a hospital. Being careful is "not cool" for kids. They rather be daring.
I love watching you and your family. So good to see their are still families who are being taught to okd ways which consists of respect , hard work, discipline and trust.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! ❤ I made these yesterday with the original filling. I was sure glad I didn't double the recipe enjoyed their fill I was wished I was wishing I had a doubled it. Lol they enjoyed them so much. They raved and raved about how good they were. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe and helping me to make my family happy.
Thank you so much for the recipes! My mother made these when I was a little girl and I loved them! Actually, I began to bake when I was about 9 and this recipe was the first thing that I made! Instead of tablespoons of cocoa, I used teaspoons! As you can imagine, they were very light in color, but other than that, they came out pretty good! We had the no powdered sugar frosting for them. I’m so happy to have this recipe! Brings back sweet memories!! Hubs is a truck driver and these would be perfect for him as he’s driving down the road!❤️❤️❤️
I was born and raised Mennonite in kalona Iowa area . My Mennonite grandmother in Michigan made Whoopie pies every Christmas. They were the best! Now i live in Oklahoma about 1 and a half hours away from an Amish bakery that makes them! 😊
God bless you ,Ruth My husband loves whoppi pies , What a wonder story , I appreciate all your beautiful stories they help me daily , We lost our youngest child and only daughter at age 19 5 months after graduating high school here in Montgomery County, Texas 🙏 Your calming voice helps me , Ive followed you since you started , I just found an amish store right by us and I love shopping there . Thank you Mrs josette Montgomery County, Texas 🙏
I am so sorry! 🤗💛 What a great loss! May God continue to comfort you along with those in your life. Life sure is a mystery. My father used to say, live for God, die for God. His death was untimely abd resulted in my not having anything to do with siblings or my mother. The last thing she said to.my father, married 50 years, was "I'm lioking for a boyfriend" and my father sobbed. I hung the phone up on her. People need to be resustant to social engineering and it starts with upbringing. Nevertheless, the element of choice is still there and I consider my relatives accountable. The untimely death of my father will alwsys leave a scar. Now this nice lady's loss is unspeakable! And I hope she has comfort that passes understanding.
My grandmother used to make these in the Appalachian mountains so it isn't just a PA Dutch baked goods. She also did this same thing with many other "flavors" soooo good! I have to try to make some.
I love your videos! They really bring a sense of home to my world. I grew up in Kalona, IA. We have many Amish and Mennonite relatives. We moved to Tennessee 11 years ago. Watching you bring a small bit of family back to us! Thank you ❤
Whoopie pies are addicting! I'm blessed to live in a part of Central Pennsylvania where there's so many great bakers. The local general store makes Coffee ones.
If you’re going to freeze them, just put a scoop of vanilla ice cream inside! Granted, they won’t go in school lunches, but they’ll be very yummy!! Love your videos-thanks so much for all the wonderful info!!!
Your comment to your son made me giggle, i think all moms everywhere must ask the hand washing question in two parts. "Have you washed your hands?" Yes."With soap?!" Thanks for another yummy recipe.
I love hearing your wind chimes..... They always make me happy hearing them when the wind blows. I have several sets. I've always thought I'd like to try that style mixer so I'm glad to see yours in action! ❤
I can sit and watch your videos for hours. People don't realize what a wonderful life you have. And I realized that rather you work on a farm are factory work is always hard. My grandmother grandpop was a poor share cropper at the end of the harvest the owner them a big ham and a case of Orange crush soda. Once a year . My stepdad hitchhiked from North Carolina to Baltimore MD the big miserable city met my mom and worked a hot factory spray painting n got lung disease. Anyway we all need to appreciate what we have. And when I see RUTHANN working I know it's hard but she's a good wife n momma and that is priceless. Women work a job and pay a sitter what do they have left. Work at home moms that's the best you could ever give them
I am thrilled to have found your channel. I use to do a lot of canning when my babies were younger and I had the property to have a small garden. Honestly they are now parents and they tell my grands stories of when they were kids and I love to hear them. At that point in time I didn't realize I was making memories for them that they would talk about 20 years later. My son had taken his children to the park one summer day and came home with so much excitement and was like mom grab your shoes I found a huge patch of raspberries, I told the kids how good your Jam was so will you make it again... of course I said yes. We spent a few hours picking berries and the grands had a blast. I showed them how to wash and prepare them for cooking and freezing. What a beautiful memories, it brought back years past to present. I am down to 1 jar of jam and my son asked if we missed picking season, sad to say yes we did but we are looking forward to the next. It's been a blessing to meet you and your family. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world! Have a fabulous week! Take care. Many blessings to you and yours
We love whoopee pies. My Mom makes oatmeal, chocolate, pumpkin, and red velvet pies. We like them frozen as well. We are Mennonite in SE Louisiana. We are not conservative or old order.
What a few variations of such a delightful treat. Thank you for all you do. Also thank you for such a wonderful opportunity to be able to win and have our very own Bausch mixer and dehydrator. I've always wanted a mixer as this one. Love to you all.
Your kids are just so polite…i love watching them choose which woopie is best to eat!!! And…I am watching this at 10 pm..guess who has a craving for woo pie pies!!!! No fair! I hope I wake up and the craving is gone lol. Pigs are my favourite farm animal..thank you for filming them having a ‘whale’ of a time in their wallow. Happy pigs! Makes my heart sing! X
I remember the Whoopie Pie assembly line!! Those were always favorites for school fundraisers. I can remember being so tired of fiddling with them but determined to make our sales goals. Great memories! The waffle ones look fantastic as well. Will definitely be trying those.
Thank you for saying out loud what I say or think about not wanting to take out the mixer due to not having enough kitchen counter space and also for me with the chore of making cookies…
I make whoopie pies every Christmas. This is a tradition I carry forward from my maternal grandmother whom I miss terribly even after many many hears. My kids and grandkids look forward to them every year.
"Flour" frosting is our family's favorite with Chocolate cake. Whoopi pies will be a great addition to our next family gathering. Love watching the boys help in the kitchen💕💖
Grew up making and eating whoopie pies. My grandmother would always have a ton of them for us. My favorite way to eat them is from the freezer. Kind of like an ice cream sandwich. Shortening is more traditional. Yum. The cooked frosting is our family's favorite
Thank-you for the parasite info. I am very appreciative. I've made and, my family ecstatically endorsed your baked bean canning recipe. They're a big favorite right now. 😂😊
Your Whoopie Pies look so Delicious! I haven't made them in years! I need to make some! Yum Yum! I really enjoyed watching all the Children helping .......and the little boys licking the Bowl! Brought back great memories for me.
I chuckle when I watch you cooking with your kids around and around. We did everything by scratch, eve tamales, . I remember nursing a baby and stiring the spagetti sauce. Had to stop some of that when they were teens and I went to work outside the home.
Thank you for another great video! I am playing catch up on your older videos but I love them so much I have to comment and those pigs flopping and flipping around in the mud is a great ending just precious.
I love watching your RUclips channel. Love your recipes, lifestyle and your beautiful family. I’ve always loved to bake cook and can. I only found RUclips a couple years ago when my husband passed away from cancer and I was looking for a more reasonable cable network and found the Roku channel and RUclips. It has been a Godsend. Thank you for your wonderful videos ❤
I'm glad you and Michelle our collaborating. I subscribed to her channels as well. My heritage is Pennsylvania Dutch. Although, my father married a "southern" and our tradition's changed quite a bit. Some of my fondest early childhood memories are of my Gran and Granaw (Great grandmother and grandmother) cooking things like scrapple and pigs feet jelly... I could go on and on but those two start the list. Thanks for introducing me to Michelle.
Yum! Scrapple 🥰 I live in the Midwest. We bring back lots of goodies when we comes back from PA to share with our friends who haven’t gotten to try it. Favorites are scrapple, Lebanon bologna and sweet bologna.
I should not have watched this fantastic video with my grandchildren, now they are begging me to make some of your delicious looking Whoopie Pies. Have a blessed day.
Hi RuthAnn and sweet family! Whoopie pies looked so delicious and the children were so happy when they saw the whoopie pies. I hope everyone is doing great and the beautiful grandbaby is getting some grandma and grandpa time in. I hope everyone has a blessed day!
I love whoopie pies. I actually worked on a recipe till I got one right. I'm a cake decorator so I had a lot of frosting left over and what I did was take my buttercream and add some marshmellow cream in the mix till I got the consistency I wanted, and it worked great. Love your channel, I saw the whoopie pies and said, yep I'm watching this!
I had the oatmeal whoopie pies in Durango Mexico from the Mennonite community. I still cherish that memory and crave that treat! This was over 20 years ago!
My husband is from Pennsylvania, lived among the Amish. He likes Whoopie pies! Every time we go to visit family back east. We buy Whoopie pie …yum in the tum! Thanks, Ruthann. Enjoyed your commentary & video! Keep well & stay vigilant!☺️🙏🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the recipe. Our grandsons graduation party guests loved the pies. I couldn’t find grandma’s recipe! I did tweak your a bit. If you cream butter & sugar forever like I do and then use King Arthur flour the batter is stiffer, but still baked up great! Thank God. My granddaughter Noella worked all day & I could not have done it alone! She loved seeing your kids do what she loves. God bless you all ❤
I'm from NJ and spent a lot of time in Lancaster because my dad partially grew up there. Now I live in CA and you can't get a good whoopee pie anywhere; thanks for the recipe!! 💕
I don't know what makes me happiest!? Learning a new recipe or watching your delightful children (including your grown daughters) dance and sing your praises for preparing such a wonderful treat. Thank you
You make my day. The way you’re raising your kids, the always smiling face, the good home healthy, sensible cooking. It all unites to make a good, happy, pleasant family. You’re the tops.
I love Whoopie Pies so much. This is the first Saturday of the month, so I will be going to our Mennonite store close to us because it is Donut Day! (first Saturday of the month) I also always pick up a Whoopie Pie, so it is double treats. Thanks so much for the video showing the whole process making it possible for me to make my own. Loved watching the kids snatch up the tasty treats, and they were so helpful! Have a great week!
I don't think my grandmother ever weighed anything for her baking and yet everything was so good. She did everything by eye and feel. She was also the one who taught me to cook. From 4 years old I was in the kitchen with her. 😊
I so enjoyed these two recipes and the fillings but especially the smiles of your wonderful family. Thank you for all you do and share a little slice of wonderful! God Bless you and your family.
Hi, I started making these years ago and they are our favourites, but the waffle pies are so neat, I gotta try them. I know what I will be doing later today, thanks so much. Love your channel 🇨🇦🌷
Thank you so much for the historical background on the Whoopie pie, I absolutely enjoy abd love every bit of your childhood memories you allow us to know and it is the same for all the stories that have come down generation to generation. I have learned so much from your channel because if yout feed to your family I know that yout are giving your best recipe's and suggestions on ingredients and all the great tips and tricks. The fact that you do not try and hide anything from accidentally making gardening mistakes, farming animals mistakes, what happened when gates are left open and how tirelessly you work at providing aid, ALL while educating the children of how mistakes happen the consequences and the hard work in trying to rectify the situation. You have the patients of a saint when the kids are helping in the kitchen and I always laugh when the kids think they are getting away with something when you are not looking because I know you will see it when editing your videos, it is hilarious and i would love to be a fly on the wall when you see those on your edits. Thak you for being you, being strong , consistent in your beliefs and the confidence toy have when discussing what negative comments that may have been left, you do it with such grace. I pray Bosch sends you a dehydrator because if anyone deserves one, you absolutely do. Bless you and your family, enjoy the grandson time, they grow up so fast and of course I cannot leave out the furbabies, dogs and cats and of course your farm animals. Unfortunately although I think I have a instragram acct? I do not know how to use it, but I will have my daughter try and help me just to try and see if I win something I have been drooling over for awhile.
Thank you from my husband, lol, one of his favorite treats! Since moving south, we miss the Amish at our local farmers market. Now I can make these for him, and hear him say, “Whoopie!”. Also, I have never made frosting with flour, I am very curious, and I can’t wait to try making it!❤️
Before my children grew up I would also wrap Whoopie pies individually and freeze them. We also loved them frozen. I’ll have to make some for a family gathering. My favorite filling was made by cooking a paste of milk and flour then whipping in granulated sugar, shortening (or butter), and vanilla. Now that I’m further into this video I see that the frosting in your waffle pies is almost exactly my favorite.
I enjoy watching all your videos! Love all your cooking, baking and canning tips! My cast iron skillets will be smooth soon by my hubby 's sander! The children in videos display their love for you all, siblings, pets and doing chores! Thank you for sharing your lives and your active faith in Jesus!
You are wonderful! I cant help but wonder where you get your physical strength to complete all your tasks AND still have time to teach us about homesteading! I just find that amazing!
Thank you SO MUCH for confirming that woopie pies and Gobs are the same thing!!! We are from PA originally and so a lot of our family favorites are PA Dutch. My grandmother made Gobs for every important family function. My brother loves them. I so want to make him some!!! God bless you!
Fabulous!! I am so delighted to know how to make these!! They look wonderful!! I can't wait to make them for our Amish friends with 10 children! Thank you so much for all you give and put into these videos for us. We appreciate your sweet gentle spirit and servant's heart so much!!
My German descent great grandmother (born 1890) gave our family this same Cooked Flour/Milk icing recipe many years ago. My cousin shared it with a famous New York Pastry Chef and he knew the heritage instantly. It’s still a favorite and often requested birthday cake treat. Love your channel and family. ❤
Happiness is cooking with the sound of laughing children in the background.
Your videos make me so happy! There are so many elements from the children and your recipes, but the best part is your smiling face that is such a reflection of God's love. Thank you!

Our youngest daughter would always request Whoopie Pies for her birthday cake. I found the recipe many years ago in a church Mennonite cookbook.
Oh my goodness, I was taught how to make Whoopi Pies when I was very young. Gramma used Lard too 😉💗💗💗💗 I also make a carrot 🥕 cake ones too. Yummy!!!

I made these yesterday ( a single batch). They are a huge hit. Thank you, Ruthann. And my grand babies thank you too ❤😊
Thank you for saying out loud what I say or think about not wanting to take out the mixer due to not having enough kitchen counter space and also for me with the chore of making cookies…
I make whoopie pies every Christmas. This is a tradition I carry forward from my maternal grandmother whom I miss terribly even after many many hears. My kids and grandkids look forward to them every year.
My grandchildren will love this!!
"Flour" frosting is our family's favorite with Chocolate cake. Whoopi pies will be a great addition to our next family gathering. Love watching the boys help in the kitchen💕💖
Oh yes!
Love how the kids are doing everything with you 😘💕
Grew up making and eating whoopie pies.
Hi Nancy🌹🌹
How are you doing?
Your Whoopie Pies look so Delicious! I haven't made them in years! I need to make some! Yum Yum! I really enjoyed watching all the Children helping .......and the little boys licking the Bowl! Brought back great memories for me.
I chuckle when I watch you cooking with your kids around and around. We did everything by scratch, eve tamales, . I remember nursing a baby and stiring the spagetti sauce. Had to stop some of that when they were teens and I went to work outside the home.
We certainly didn’t need these in our house, but that didn’t stop me from making them today 😂 They were a hit! Thank you 😊
Thank you for another great video!
I can’t wait to make the waffle Whoopi pies I just got my waffle maker as a retirement gift from ups , so excited
I should not have watched this fantastic video with my grandchildren, now they are begging me to make some of your delicious looking Whoopie Pies. Have a blessed day.
I’ll have Whoopie pies! I grew up in Lancaster alongside Amish and Mennonite families and we always got all kinds of Whoopie pies!!
Harrison made good on the Whoopie Pie legend! He came in and let out a masterful whoop! lol
That is awesome!
Whoopie pies are great! I especially love to watch your helpers and how they enjoy themselves in work and play (and dessert)😊
God bless you all ❤
Love your vlog. The younger generation needs to learn these valuable lessons.
Love watching you and your children working together! Such a delicious treat!! YUM!!😋
Good Morning we love whoopie pies. My grandma used to cook 11:13 Pennsylvania Dutch meals. She was born just outside of Lancaster, PA.
Thank you
.....more than the food...love those kids enjoying life..what beautiful memories they are collecting..they are truly blessed
The "twins" are so helpful and sweet . I call them twins because they are always together and really love each other. Love your channel !
Yes. They reallly are like twins
Thank you so much for all your recipes and teaching. I can't wait toake these whoopie loss.
The little boys are so adorable, so much help
Hi, I started making these years ago and they are our favourites, but the waffle pies are so neat, I gotta try them. I know what I will be doing later today, thanks so much. Love your channel 🇨🇦🌷
Omgosh, whoppie pies remind me of my great grandmother. I've never made them but you made them look easy.
Happy Saturday Zimmerman family!! Another great video!
Aww this brought back memories of my grandfather making these for me when I was little. He is from Pennsylvania and moved to Alaska.
I love your sweet personality and down to earth teaching with all the tips and secrets in all that you do!! Please don't change. God bless❤
I love watching your videos. Thanks for sharing the whoopie pie recipes.
RuthAnn, TY, for ALL of Amazing videos! WHOOOPIII, Whoopi Pies!! Blessings to you and your family! 🙏🏼❤🫂
Your children must have the best sense of accomplishment. They seem to enjoy whatever they are doing. ❤
I have wanted this mixer for so long. Keeping my fingers crossed. My grand children love whoopee pies.
I live in Maine and have a whoopie pie business! I have never seen waffle whoopie pies, but am anxious to try them!
Ohhh they would make a fun addition to your business!!!!
So interesting!!!
