My mom bought every brand known to man, and he'd always complain. Every once in a while she'd find something "acceptable." I’m 35 weeks pregnant and have been struggling horribly with sinus infections and an over-production of mucus. I’m headed to the grocery store today to make this!! 🙌🏾✨
I am a retired ICU RN but a very untraditional one. I go to what I can make first and will try that first. Most times it works. I also grow medicinal herbs in my garden. I think there is a reason why I like radish soup!!
I made this recipe yesterday. I did not have a red onion so used a yellow one in its place. After 24 hours I can already tell a difference! Thank you for sharing this
I have found my favorite channel, there is nothing about your channel that I don’t enjoy. You’re a great mother with so much girl and your children are so well behaved and willing to do their chores, which is a reflection of their parents. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.
Seriously we need more people like you in this world and I hope your daughters continue your legacy as you do your mom and your grandma. My grandmother raised me and I was too young to know that I should write down her recipes or what value they would be to me. You interact so much with your children. I don’t think that’s going to be an issue. Take care and keep doing what you’re doing.
I am so surprised and happy to hear you speak about histamines in particular, their relationship to mast cells. I have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome so I am very familiar with everything you mentioned. Because of the high risk of anaphylaxis, I cannot take anything over the counter as the chemicals in them cause me anaphylactic reactions. Thank you so much for sharing this home remedy. It means so much to me personally to have something completely natural to take during excessive histamine releases. Can't wait to make it and try it!
I wish I had this recipe two weeks ago! My hubby got out of the hospital last week and IMMEDIATELY started coughing and had stuffiness that just wouldn’t let him breathe! I went to the store and got all the ingredients. I included ginger and chose Meyer lemons. Boy, the produce section in our tiny town grocery store was really lacking! The regular lemons were tiny and hard as a rock! The radishes had greens that were wilted…I’m growing my own! Radishes not lemons!
I just made this for my constant cough, it not only tastes very good but has suppressed my cough. I cannot belief how quickly and affective this recipe is.
I want to thank you so so much. For the recipe, this last 2 weeks, my lungs were getting worse. Dr, No thanks I'll pass, Anyways I went yesterday and got the ingredients, and drink a lot , I mean I was eating a whole garlic 🧄 a day and it wasn't working like normal, so thank you so so much. This morning I'm so happy to finally be on the mend.God bless you all. And And don't get runned down during this harvest time.
I've been really sick with the flu. I saw this video and had everything I needed so decided why not, I'm desperate. The smell is awful so I was a bit worried it wouldn't stay down, but I drank it and it really wasn't bad at all. Five minutes later I felt it start to work. Thank you so much for sharing this. I will be using this for sickness in my family from now on along with my teas.
I watched this over the weekend and today made this as drink for me to slip over the full day. The spice and burn are addictive. I feel so much better. I was slowly recovering but today it feels like your remedy has kicked this cold's butt.
Years ago I used to grow a lot of sprouts. Mostly alfalfa sprouts and bean sprouts. The health food store had radish seeds for Sprouts and I tried them. They tasted just like fresh radishes out of the garden. I think they took maybe three days to grow.
This morning I was forced to try it. Great recipe! Last night my nose got plugged, my body started hurting, and I all of a sudden got a head ache. This morning I foraged some wild radish and picked everything else I needed, I was too desperate so I didn't strain it (it tasted fine to me). About 5 minutes after I took it my nose unplugged and I was able to breathe again. Thank you so much for making this video.
I know you posted a yr ago, but recently found your channel. I don't like garlic or onion, so I really like the idea of dehydrating and putting into capsules, great idea.
Oct. 15, 2023. Hi there! Thank you so very much for sharing your recipe for the decongestant. I have in the past used the purple onion and sugar, used for making a cough syrup, which works very well. However, today I was on a hunt for a natural decongestant. Thank you for sharing your recipe and I will get the ingredients and make some this week. Also, love your homesteading videos. I have found each to be clear, educational and informative! Keep up the great work! God bless!
Thank you so much! 💛 My sister said she tried this and she said it worked great for her family when they were sick. My daughter has had this dry cough and we haven’t found anything to give her relief so I can’t wait to try this! BTW-I think the compound in onions you were talking about was Quercetin. (kw-er-se-tin) I didn’t know how to say it at first either.😁
@@Ruthannzimm I made your recipe and it is amazing! I didn’t have time to strain it because I needed something to use immediately before bed so my daughter took it straight from the blender. It helped instantly and she was able to sleep! The next day her cough was 10x better and she continued to take it unstrained every 3 hours and she barely had a cough. Thank you so much! After all the home remedies we tried this is the only thing that worked and her cough had been so bad! I’ll be making this every time we are sick from now on. I’ll be sharing it with everyone too. God bless.❤️
Thank you! I am going to refer back to this come the winter months. what a sweet scene at the end with the boys just hanging out on the chair with. all legs hanging over 😊
Italians seem to love their garlic! My daughter is there right now on a mission for our church. After a week her comment was, good thing you used a lot of garlic, they LOVE it here. Everything is so much better tasting in Italy 🇮🇹 😍
T Thank you so much for your recipe. I have been sick and I'm elderly and cannot get better. And can you believe I have all the ingredients so I can make this today.. I love your videos.. you are a. blessing; and I love you Honey.. 💞🙏✝️💞
How long will this recipe last if it is kept in a cool dark space? I've made the garlic and honey tincture and keep it in a quart jar in a dark cool closet. I used it when I had shingles on my leg .I took it orally and dabbed it on the areas where the sores were and I promuse you it tastes awful but it worked quickly. As for onions, my grandmother used to when she would get a bad cold , she would cut a very thick white onion and make a sandwich out of it.I asked her once, granny, why are you eating an onion sandwich? Her reply: well baby, I can't smell anything and I don't have any taste in my mouth and this hot onion is going to fix that.
I found this fascinating. I knew only some of the information you shared but didn't know the science behind it. I also didn't know that radish tops steal nutrition from the bulb once harvested. I always remove them before storing them in the fridge if I don't intend on roasting them with the bulb because they get slimy quickly. Love your channel!
This is a fantastic video! I usually buy fresh salsa, add fresh crushed garlic to it, add a little cayenne to it, and eat that when I'm sick. The capsaicin is a mild decongestant, you already discussed onions and garlic, tomatoes are high in vitamin c, and you can taste it! 😂
We plant radishes in the fall. Starting about the beginning to middle of August. So we have a crop before the first hard frost. Thank you for the recipe:). My husband found your channel a few week’s ago. Thank you for such wonderful teaching. It’s simple , very informative:). Great job:). We like the old ways:)
@@smas3256Hello, can you explain and tell me more about the radishes tops? How are they good for the organs and diabetes? Do they have a bad flavor, especially if you don't like radishes? Two out of 3 of my children (adult kids) just got diagnosed with Diabetes (the big D word I called it). They both got diagnosed in the first half of the year in 2023. What do you actually do with the tops, we all are new about understanding and learning about the big (D word) Diabetes... Thank you for any input and information about this.🎉 😊😊
I made this today. AMAZING results in such a short amount of time! I did add the ginger root (and probably used a bit too much onion as I am prone to do). It is surprisingly tasty with just a bit too much oniony flavor - entirely my fault, I've no doubt. Cannot thank you enough for this recipe. I love your instructive videos and the way you interact with your children. I am dehydrating the 'pink stuff' that was left after straining, and will put it in capsules. Great idea that I would not have thought of had you not said something. 🥰 Thank you again, and God bless you and your beautiful family!
Finally made this one! Has a little bite to it but works pretty good. As a person with an immune disorder I can’t tolerate the over the counter red dye cough syrups, I’m allergic to red dyes. This is what is working. Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much, I used this several months ago and I rolled the pulp in parchment paper and froze it. Its now December and I had a cold with a non productive cough. I brought out the pulp I froze and cut about 1 tablespoon sections off, took them about every 2 hours. They were like a soft chew cough drop, and it worked awesomely. I was so much better the next day. God Bless You!
Love this and will be adding it to my home remedies notebook. I wonder if it can be made ahead and frozen in cubes and able to store longer. That way if I'm sick as well I won't need to worry about ingredients or actually being able to make it. Thanks so much for the recipe! God Bless!
I will try this for sure! I have sinus issues and whenever I get sick, the congestion is so bad that I'm miserable even with a small cold. Maybe this will work better than the cold medicine I've tried. And it's all fresh produce so it can't hurt to try!
I came upon a video of yours a few weeks ago and I'm so grateful! Love your common sense and approach to caring for your family! hink I have watched most all of your videos since and will continue follow you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I am adding this one to the one we use at our home. I buy the Celestial Lemon Zinger tea that is very good and that is what I give to my grandchildren when they have the head cold and cough. Clears them up quickly. It is also really good with some Wild Turkey Liquori as a hot toddy. For the adults of course. I really enjoy your videos.
I found this fascinating. Thank you. I just found you and have watched a few of your other videos. If you use honey or any other sticky thing. in a measuring jug. Just oil is first, and it will slide out. That way you do not waste any goodness :)
I love this I make something similar, but because I have a Vitamix, I don’t juice my lemons anymore them in half I take out the seeds I can see I make sure they’re scrubbed good and clean and I put the whole thing in the blender because there’s a lot of nutrients in the zest and pith And it almost gives it a creamy consistency, so thank you for this I like your recipe
@@vickiefletcher4023 yes the Vitamix just makes it creamy. It will even get a little frothy depending on how many dates you put in and it’s very zingy. I love it.
@@auntdayskitchen631513:54 I also make a similar medicine...It's called Immune Booster! The recipe calls for 2 small lemons (skin and all, cut up), 1/2 cup peeled and cut up ginger, 1/2 cup garlic cloves, 1/2 cup honey. Put it all in a blender until well blended. It will not be a liquid.
I grow radishes in 2 little planters on 1 of my windowsills, all year. Not many. 6 to 7 in each pot. If I harvest 2, I plant 2 more seeds. So, they aren't ready for harvest at the same time. I never thought to add them to my home remedies. I need to get another windowsill planter. Thank you. ❤
I just made this and really works well it's spicy my 6 year old just drank milk after did fine. Thank you so much Ruthanne for sharing this and all your videos really helping me and my family. God bless you 🙏
Haha. I was wondering why you didn’t put ginger. I do this as well, but without the radish. All those ingredients plus ginger boiled into a tea. We are usually treating sore throat when the flu comes around, so ginger really helps with that. I just recently found your channel and love your videos! ❤ More power to you!
I have only recently found your channel, and greatly appreciate everything i am learning. This especially is something i have been looking for thank you!
I just found your channel and it is so timely. I am having a bit of congestion because of the seasons changing. I am going to make me some of this! I hate taking otc meds.
I watch your channel on the regular, but just saw this video yesterday. Timely, as my husband and I both have colds at the moment. Made this recipe this morning..... IT WORKS!!!!!! Absolutely will be my "go to" from here forward for congestion! Thank you so much for the amazing knowledge you share!
I know the Lord led me to this, popped on my page and me and my son have been coughing and i believe its an upper respiratory infection, i had all the ingredients except the radishes, but i did have a old piece of ginger, so i blended it all in my vitamix and just used my mesh strainer and it actually taste good to me, the ginger was the perfect thing. God Bless you your family and your channel #Jesuslovesyall ♥
Gee, i love your explanations. I have lots of allergies i will try to use some of these products to deal with it. Thanks for sharing. Ginger is also very good if you have stomach flu.
Used vitamix then sent thru my juicer. I think I could send it all in the juicer and save some cleanup. Hopefully I will be on the mend today. Thank you!
I just made this. Took my first dose. Didn't taste bad at all. Hope it clears my head. Love your videos and your sharing these remedies. There is only one issue. Please make more videos !. Couple times a week. It's hard waiting. God bless
I've been enjoying your videos. Thanks for the decongestant recipe. Vitamin C is a great healer you know I'm sure. When I eat an orange I eat some of the peal with the white pith.
Thank you so much. I love watching your new videos as well as the ones you made before I started following you. I look forward to each one! You are so knowledgeable and explain everything so well. Be blessed.
Hi Ruth Ann! Thanks for this syrup recipe. I wonder if you could freeze the syrup using those very small ice cube trays? It seems like it would still be effective; that way you could have a nice cold piece of frozen syrup to dissolve in your mouth. It would last longer too. You could make a big batch to see you and your family through the winter. What are your thoughts on this?
My husband and son have been experiencing a bout of allergic reactions. I'm gonna give this a go to see if will be a benefit to them. If so, I will definitely continue to keep it on hand. Thanks for the info!
Thank you for this recipe. Will definitely be making it if we need it. Will also send it to my kids to use. We are old and do not get sick very often but if we need this we will make it. Hearts and flowers coming to you. ❤️💐

I buy the Celestial Lemon Zinger tea that is very good and that is what I give to my grandchildren when they have the head cold and cough. Clears them up quickly. It is also really good with some Wild Turkey Liquori as a hot toddy. For the adults of course. I really enjoy your videos.
Thank you for giving us some of your knowledge. You are a true gem. Also thank you for trying to help us.
Your videos are absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much for the tutorial and the recipe! God is good!! ✝️❤️
GOD is good all the time. Thanks for another great recipe
You said the vitamix makes it almost creamy, So you don’t strain it? Do you just take as is from the vitamix? Thanks
@@vickiefletcher4023 yes the Vitamix just makes it creamy. It will even get a little frothy depending on how many dates you put in and it’s very zingy. I love it.
@@auntdayskitchen6315dates???i did not see dates in recipe.
Thank you for the recipe! I made this on Tuesday night & am feeling much better today!❤ I have been eating the pulp too. Delicious!
I’m so sick and so congested!! Your timing is excellent!! Thank you!!
I have only recently found your channel, and greatly appreciate everything i am learning. This especially is something i have been looking for thank you!
I just found your channel and it is so timely. I am having a bit of congestion because of the seasons changing. I am going to make me some of this! I hate taking otc meds.
You are so knowledgeable in everything you do.
This is wonderful! Thank you for sharing!❤
God bless you for sharing this!! My two year old has so much mucus ❤
the mucus medicine I bought over the counter did nothing.
thanks for sharing the persons idea on drying the top and putting in capsules. Waste not want not! 🤗🙏🏼❣️🙏🏼
Thanks Ruth Ann for this helpful video! Your timing is perfect!
Wonderful! I have made an onion cough syrup for years and joyful to find this decongestant!!
Beautiful! God provides!🙏🏻💕🙌🏻🙌🏻👑🌷🌷🌷
Gee, i love your explanations. I have lots of allergies i will try to use some of these products to deal with it. Thanks for sharing. Ginger is also very good if you have stomach flu.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and decongestant remedy. I will be making it in the next day or so.
Great! Thank you for sharing, I shared this on my Facebook in Indiana
God truly blessed you. I love learning different things . I will be making this recipe.
Used vitamix then sent thru my juicer. I think I could send it all in the juicer and save some cleanup. Hopefully I will be on the mend today. Thank you!
The decongestant recipe turned out great. It tastes good. Thank you! Happy Holidays to you and your lovely family.
I just made this. Took my first dose. Didn't taste bad at all. Hope it clears my head. Love your videos and your sharing these remedies. There is only one issue. Please make more videos !. Couple times a week. It's hard waiting. God bless
As an update, I highly recommend it!! It works
Love this! Mullein is great for congestion too! I mix it with mint for a sinus draining tea!
I've been enjoying your videos. Thanks for the decongestant recipe. Vitamin C is a great healer you know I'm sure. When I eat an orange I eat some of the peal with the white pith.
This was another awesome video and I’m glad to know about the radish….Thank You for sharing
I would throw the leftover onion radish pulp into a soup.
Thanks for the recipe. ❤
I printed this out and now I need some more ingredients for fire cider this to. I much appreciate it. Ty.❤
I would love a book written by you. You are so knowledgeable
Thank you soo very much 💓. I'm going to try this recipe and also going to frezze dry it and put it into capsules.
I am new subscriber to your channel. Lots of good things here: I will try this for sure once the season comes again. Thanks for sharing...
My husband and son have been experiencing a bout of allergic reactions. I'm gonna give this a go to see if will be a benefit to them. If so, I will definitely continue to keep it on hand. Thanks for the info!
What a beautiful colour 😊 Thank you so much for sharing.
Beautiful video and message! Thank you!
I love your son's beautiful hair. What a gorgeous family you have.
Thank you for this recipe. Will definitely be making it if we need it. Will also send it to my kids to use. We are old and do not get sick very often but if we need this we will make it. Hearts and flowers coming to you. ❤️💐
You are so knowledgeable! I really appreciate what you do!
Definitely gonna be saving this recipe! I’d rather go all natural and this doesn’t look too bad.
Amen. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Excellent Ruthann. Can’t wait to try this one👍🏻
Quercetin I think is what you were trying to think of! I was just taking a supplement because we all had the dreaded Covid (sadly) for the first time since it came out. I wish I knew how to get this out of our bodies!
The I vitamin .
Try Dr. Peter McCullough's Covid protocol. Very good & natural.
Thank you so much for this!! I have a horrible sinus infection. Hopefully sub-ing fermented honey garlic and frozen radishes will do the trick! 😖🤞
