Ive just ordered mine based on this video, Thank you for great content
Mines in the post. should arrive this coming week. Quite excited
Just ordered mine this morning and this video made me very happy with my purchase!
did you get it yet? What do you think? I don't use mine as often as my 3d printers, but it never misses a beat. When I need it, it just works.
@@FunctionalPrintFriday yes! Came Tuesday. My thoughts ruclips.net/video/w4WDy_V8hig/видео.htmlfeature=shared
The health risk is the adhesive resins used in plywood veneers! Ah a video that drives a Functional Print yes yes ;)
Great video I’m buying one
come back and let us know how you like it. I really think they killed it with the design/enclosure
As an absolute newbie to this realm, I enjoyed the video, although I'm really in need of the entire missing portion of how to interact from start to finish with the computer interface. That's where my biggest challenge is as I try to progress with my 40W setup.
I'm getting bits and pieces of what's involved, but I need to buy the book titled Creality Computer Interface for Dummies which would very completely describe every little detail between the step of (1) Setting Up Your Falcon and (3) Actually Pressing the Go Button.
I think your camera calibration is a bit off. If you look at the video in the lightburn docs for camera calibration, it fully corrects for the fisheye effect and the edges appear straight after calibration.
Thought so do, but went through it 3 times and got really high "scores" from lightburn during the calibration. Couldn't quite get rid of it at the edges.
Nice review but I feel sorry for those who bought the 40w Pro thinking it would be a top of the range machine for a while. 3 months later after release, they're now releasing the 60w version. - I wish you could have gone a little further and tried to use a rotary with the Pro. You have to remove the slats, buy the extending legs to raise the engraver up, remove the lower tray, which is alarmed so then you have to disarm that safety feature, disconnect the y axis and fit the rotary into the y axis socket. ... What a hassle. Creality were advised about all of this but none of it has been addressed in the 60w version. Like you said with the right-angled usb cable, simple improvements that would have made all the difference.
interesting. I may be taking a look at the 60w
Nice review! What kind of cut speeds were you able get on 1/4" wood?
The 40w version has a "precision" button that turns off half of the diodes, so there wouldn't be any need to purchase a separate laser unit and swap them out.
Interesting! I wasn't aware of that. I wonder why they include the 1.6w with the 40w then. .
@@FunctionalPrintFridaymaybe I misheard what you said on the video, but I assumed you were just talking about needing to swap between 22W and 40W if you bought the 40W. 1.6W would be what, one diode? If you needed that, you'd need it whether you got the 22W or the 40W right?
The 1w laser is for very fine detail engraving, which will give you finer results than the 40w with half the diodes enabled. (Obviously depends on what you're trying to do)
Many of the DJI top tech guys, founded Bambu and appear to be raising the 3d printer bar above all others. (Similar to what DJI did in the drone market).
Will be interesting to see if a similar leader emerges in the Laser Cutting/Engraving/CNC space.
BTW, I understand Bambu's P1S or X1C are FDM printers (hot glue guns) that support PT, PLA, ABS and carbon fiber material.. but what kind of materials are used in the higher-resolution SLS/SLA (resin+uv) printers? Which is better for automotive applications where strength and heat resistance is needed.
After learning Klipper and it's web interface(and building a voron eventually), it's disappointing that a machine like this doesn't at least have wifi and a decent web interface. Needing multiple USB connections is inconvenient.
Thanks for the review!
I thought the same thing at first, but then I think it wouldn't work with Lightburn. I think Lightburn is very limited with ethernet compatability.
FLM - Functional Lasercut Monday ?
Is there any way to "cut" 35um copper on printed circuit boards... If not directly maybe with blackening or something? This would be game changing for my area of interest.
at 22w, I don't think it's practical, but there are higher wattage diode machines on the horizon. More to come :)
Great video, I purchased the 40w unit, I was wondering does this come with a free version of Light Burn or do you have to pay for it?
Not included. I'm still on the free trial, but I'll be getting it. It's a once and done license (not a subscription), which is nice at least.
@@FunctionalPrintFriday If it is designed to only work with light burn then it should come with it, especially for that price!
@@SeanSR It's not designed to ONLY work with Lightburn, it works with LaserGRBL which IS included. @FunctionalPrintFriday Lightburn is a subscription if you want upgrades. You pay for a years upgrades, then, if want want more, you have to pay a reduced fee each year or you can continue and use it as is, without further upgrades 👌
Just ordered mine, does it come with lightburn or do I have to buy it ?
Have to buy it separate. I think they figure anyone upgrading from another laser will already have it and don't want to jack up the cost for everyone to include it.
Hi again, FPF. I just received my right angle USB-C plug from Amazon, which seemed like a very good suggestion, and am also considering ordering the junction box (2) you're recommending. However, I am currently hung up on a problem of receiving an annoying error message and I cannot seem to find a solution. I'm wondering if the addition of the J-box will add to the problem or perhaps help to make it go away.
I've experienced just the first taste of my operational unit, but have not had any success in conquering aforementioned roadblock problem, so I've not been able to move forward because of that, but also becz of trying to complete my main task of rebuilding my customer's Citabria wing set.
BTW, my error message is "There was a problem sending data to the laser. System may be busy or paused”.
Any possible insight or comment?
NICE set of metal lathe tools, btw. I've inherited my Dad's smaller Smithy Granite and enjoy (mostly) teaching myself about its use.
Cheers!
thx! I have not seen that problem, but the j-box is definitely not going to solve it. If after a power cycle it's not resolved, try another USB port on your PC. If that doesn't resolve it, I'd contact Creality for help.
I love your voice❤❤❤
thx
Would this etch anything on metal?
On stainless, yes. For other metals, you'd need to use the laser marking spray.
Vvorp Vvrorp spotted
lol
I know this isn't about the video but I'm always struck how much you and @Attoparsec sound very similar to each other. Until I saw what you looked like I was harbouring real suspicions you were the same person. 😂
nope, but just checked out his channel and sub'd, thx!
He looks like a younger more handsome Nicolas Cage ♥
