Finally, a no nonsense tutorial! Helped a lot, Currently don't have ethernet access so is it possible to install the mods on a laptop then drop them into a usb, plug it into the main pc and complete via your method?
Here's some more information for OP or anyone curious on offline/manual installation. If you already have a mod downloaded it is also possible to install mods via offline manually like in the video or read the readme file for instructions or through a mod manager like Nexus Mod Manager (Outdated), Vortex and Mod Organizer 2 with most Elder Scrolls or Fallout games. I've been using Mod Organizer 2, easier to roll back mods: Drag and drop the zip file into the downloads tab and there you go mod organiser will think you downloaded the mod and you can go ahead and double click on the mod to proceed and install it without needing to download the mod. For Nexus mod Manager which is outdated now: On top of the window there is a folder icon, select it and then select "open NMM's mods Folder" drag and drop the zip file in and it should appear right into NMM however you have to categorise the mod yourself this way. You can now search the mod and install it via Nexus Mod Manager and disable it this way too. I don't use Vortex but I think offline installation through this software is possible. On a side note, if previously installed mods are still active after reinstalling this simply means reinstalling Skyrim does not hard reset it back into vanilla, you would have to delete all mods manually added into the Skyrim folder after uninstalling. Just uninstall skyrim and delete the skyrim folder it should get rid off all ENBs and other unwanted files. This is because the steam uninstall program only removes what was downloaded directly from steam, which is why a mod manager is preferable for easily removing mods. This can also happen to other games to like GTA5, Half Life, L4D2 and others so be sure to clean up mods before reinstalling, it saves a lot of hassle. Plus Skyrim/Fallout 4 mostly uses BSAs, compact files that contain main game/DLC/MOD content and with enough back tracking you can delete mods without needing to reinstall the game.
Thanks man, i have been having problems with vortex and whenever i went to load skyrim se my pc would always crash, this made it so much easier to play with mods

I'm new to Skyrim mods, but have been modding other games for quite some time now. First I'd like to say thanks for making it simple, I really do hate the Nexus manager. I'd also like to point out something important. I have an interface face folder with things in it. If I were to replace this folder, I'd lose everything I have in it. I have friends who have ruined their Fallout NV and Fallout 4 games from not knowing and doing this. Just trying to help out people who aren't used to modding. Copy and past the files in the downloaded folder to the same folder that exists in your game. As stated, I literally just decided that I wanted to start modding Skyrim, and this was my first stop after googling it. Thanks again for keeping it simple. And for those who are new at modding... There are mods that may have the same types of files, but directions say to use the mod manger. FOLLOW the directions, there's a reason for it and load order is a big one.
2023 → doesn't work. In first Skyrim we needed to activate them in a dialog which doesn't exist anymore. Hey guys. I am planning on dropping a tutorial for Vortex since I have seen a ton of talk about it in the comments. I will drop it when I hit 100 subs. Have a great day.
Is better to go into Nexus Mods and get VORTEX program... Config game location and mod location and make sure both are located on the same drive, ton of space will be required base on the amount of mods you wanna install... Drag 7zip in a good order always atempting to install base mods first, like RaceMenu, Skeleton, FaceModels Engines, Textures, etc.. Launch Game from Vortex itself and if you have issues with space or compatibility uninstall that specific mod. Star a fresh game to avoid issues and pray you don't miss any mod once you started your adventure or issues might happen later if the mods is complex enough. Note: Some mods use the old Skyrim version and some the Special Version, I recommend downloading mods base on their release date (get new ones) and use latest Skyrim Version.
The new launcher doesn't have the 'Data' option like back then. I tried adding the bEnableFileSelection=1 on SkyrimPref and still doesn't work. Any way on how to enable the esp manually ?
It seems now you have to enter the game, in the main menu there is an option called mods, click on it and press the Home key to go to the load order and enable the mods
I found out that you need to go to the Skyrim SE loading screen. The place were you would start to play, and then click the mods button and go to something called load order and they mods you download should be there and you have to click on them to actually activate them. (Also having an ENB seems to not let most mods show in the mods order.) I don't know if it will still work if you download the ENB again after having the mods activated though
I’m having a problem with this. So I download the mod right? Then I get the mod file from win rar and I put it in the data folder but when I go to Skyrim I don’t see my mods anywhere? How do I fix this?
I feel like WinRar is going to hold my computer ransom to make me fork over some money but okay. Im too poor to buy that I'm gonna go look for another answer and if there is none I'll make one
Good video, I wanted to be reminded how to do this, I've been modding Skyrim for years, I find eventually Mod managers just mess things up, An important point is to (Backup Your Data Folder) first in case things go wrong because there are a lot of mods out there that can cause problems, I would also recommend 7zip instead of WinRAR, just my view.
I hope you still see this: The mod I want to download and install has pretty much the same instructions as in your video, but at the end it says this: Activate the mod through your preferred launcher by ticking the checkbox next to the esp/esm. I'm not sure what that means... could you please explain that?
Megami if you followed the steps correctly in the video you have manually installed the mod and you do not have to do that last step, the last step is for mod manager users, a mod manager is a program that installs the mods for u, nexus mod manager and vortex are two of them
Nexus Mod Manager is absolute fucking cancer, I cannot think of a reason as to why a "MOD MANAGER" is worse at managing mods then I am at installing them myself. Thanks for a guide on how to do it manually.
Really, really bothers me that I was doing everything right except I was putting it in the "mods" folder and not the "data" folder. Why must things be this way?

hey man thank you so mutch it is really well explained and was easy to follow . you really helped me out.
Do Special edition mods work for Legendary edition?
Good video, I wanted to be reminded how to do this, I've been modding Skyrim for years, I find eventually Mod managers just mess things up, An important point is to (Backup Your Data Folder) first in case things go wrong because there are a lot of mods out there that can cause problems, I would also recommend 7zip instead of WinRAR, just my view.
ive never tried it i should, you should join our discord
Thanks bro im so dumb with this shit and you do such a good job at being slow and clear for folks like me, we dummies are your audience so thank you!
I hope you still see this:
The mod I want to download and install has pretty much the same instructions as in your video, but at the end it says this: Activate the mod through your preferred launcher by ticking the checkbox next to the esp/esm.
M2theAGGOT try vortex if you dont like nmm, i like it better
not working
Super easy and to the point, I like it. Great video!
Really, really bothers me that I was doing everything right except I was putting it in the "mods" folder and not the "data" folder. Why must things be this way?
Hudson Raney i know right, bethesda is clowning
Because the game is designed to be easy to use for a standard consumer, they don't have modders in mind when they design how the game is written.
I downloaded some mods and for some reason my character and the npcs are in a t pose....
lol
Thank You! i'm not the best with installing mods, so thank you very much!
Thank you im sick of skipping mods what require a manual installation
