- In this video I demonstrate a quick and easy way to get that distressed, weathered look on your RC wheels. I also show how to get a similar effect on a painted body as well. I am still learning, but so far I have been pleased with the outcome of these projects!

2 weathering tips for your wheels (or body). For a heavier or more permanent rusting you can use 1 or 2 different colors of acrylic paint that simulate rust. Water it down a bit like a wash and let it seep into the cracks and edges. Can take the same paint not thinned and just barely touch a couple spots on the flat surface. A toothpick works well for that. The Tamiya powders are great for blending afterwards. The second tip whether you paint or just use the powders is to hit the wheel with a coat of matte clear to seal it all in.
These are some great tips, one other tip for weathering is get out there and drive the truck! Mother Nature will weather any rig lol 😂👍🏻

One weathering technique I've been experimenting with before I paint my KB LR D90 body is instead of using an abrasive to get to the silver "alloy" base is to wear through the layers with some rag covered either in brake cleaner or thinners, but test on some of the plastic the same as your project first. It gives a softer worn edge to the paint.
The other technique is flick maintenance fluid or grease for bigger areas then spray you topcoat/s on top. Once dry, wipe it off to expose the base.
Handy if you want that paint "lip" like a scab of paint or bondo came off look.
I recommend getting some sheets of ABS to experiment techniques with.

Soft scotch brite the wheels, water down acrylic paint, brush on, dab off excess. 👌 won’t wash off. Same can be done to the body.
