Thanks for watching! Thanks for the tip. I will try to record in the field, but it does make the logistics little more difficult. Still learning the video stuff.
Its interesting that you have to pull out the film slilghtly for the older Instax models. Have to report that for the Square SQ1, the rollers wont start moving when you press the shutter while the door is open so you dont have to pull it out slightly. Its much easier now :) Not sure about the Mini 11 though.
Thanks for this helpful video. I’m going to try this witn my Fuji wide 210, but only when I have 1 or 2 film left. I don’t want to waste a whole pack in case I actually mess it up!
Did you try with the Wide 210? Any luck? I tried with my Wide 300 and it works, but one issue is that after you are done the next picture is always taken without a flash.
matejphoto i love any type of videos on the instax mini cameras, especially the ones with more tips on the different lighting settings and how to achieve the best outcome. But overall i love all your videos and find them really useful so thank you!
i accidentally took a multiple maybe 3 exposures on my mini on accident because i dropped it one time, lead me to thin kif there was a way hahah thank you now i can do it on purpose
Hey! I’ve been watching your videos about instax camera every now and then. Thank you for your tutorials! Can I just ask how can I make the silhouette? I tried double exposure for 4 times, I couldn’t get the silhouette shot ☹️
Will this trick work for Wide 300 as well? Also after opening the film door, I'll press the shutter release button and then pull the bottom part of the cassette, or I'll pull the bottom part of the cassette first and then press the shutter release button? Please clarify. Thanks in advance.
It should work with the Instax 300 as well. You want to first push the shutter and then pull the bottom of the cassette. If you pull the casette and then press the shutter your image will likely be out of focus since the film will not be in the right place during exposure.
It definitely works with the wide 300 as well. I posted an example on my instragram (@matejphoto). One detail makes it extra tricky on the wide 300. If you open the door and the close it the camera thinks it has a new pack and the first shot is without a flash.
If you pull the film cartridge too far, light will get in. The reason why it doesn’t get in generally is because the film cartridge is covering the film and no direct light can hit the film. And since inside of the camera is all black, the light does not reflect too much.
it shouldn't damage your camera at all, even the film should be fine but the only thing you MIGHT be risking is slightly exposing your unused film. but yea if you dont feel comfortable doing it, just don't.
Can someone please help me with this. I tried this trick on an Instax 25, the film does not eject and I am able to take a second photo but the second photo does not show up at all. I still get a single exposure of whatever the first subject was. I tried in all sorts of settings, lighting and subjects, I even tried covering half the lens, but I just can't the second exposure to show up at all. I went through a pack and a half already please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?
Unfortunately it sounds like this does not work with the Instax 25. My guess is that the camera knows that you opened the film door and therefore it thinks loaded a new film and it is just ejecting the dark slide when you are trying to take the second exposure. When you take the second exposure, does the flash ever fire? One last thing that you might try is to do the process twice. The first and the third exposure might show up.
@@matejphoto Okay that makes sense! I didn't notice if the flash fired or not. I thought it did but maybe not... I will try to keep the film from ejecting a second time and then take a third shot and see it that shows up. Thanks so much for responding!
Oh my goodness those pics are sooooo good 😳
That church one is so good please do a more in depth tutorial (like walk us through you actually doing one) if you can!

so can you do this double exposure trick on the sq1? if so how?
@@malayko2585 seems like all you have to do is open the door, take first shot, close the door, take second shot

Thank you! Have been on vacation, planning to start posting very soon.

Thank you, brilliant explanation
You are welcome!
Hey.. to underexpose.. shouldn't you shift one step higher? Cuz that will reduce the aperture size and reduce d exposure?
Yes, that is correct.
Super helpful, thanks!
I am glad that it was useful. Check out my other videos too:)
Can I try with Instax 11?
are you able to do that with an instax wide 300 too?
Yes. The ejection mechanism is the same, just the film cartridge is wider. Might be little more prone to light leaks.
@@matejphoto thanks :)

With which camera? The mini 8?
Oh sorry. Yes. I have the Mini 9
could you do this with the instax sq 1?
I love your video! Great work, it helped me a lot!
I am glad that you liked it!
When is the next video coming up? I really want to see it!
THANK YOU!!!!
You are welcome! Let me know if you have any other topics that you would like me to cover.
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
this is so complicated hahaha, I will just take picture 😁
Thanks so much for this! Do you reckon it would work for the mini 11?
Kinda. Check out my latest video. I have a quick example there. It works but it is super hard to control. So you might get it too dark.

@@matejphoto I screwed up, man. Couldn't stop the film from ejecting after the first shot. Will try again.

How did you do the overlays?
I took a one picture, then did the trick to make sure the print is not ejected and then I took another picture.
but how does the light not get in the film if you open he film door
If you pull the film cartridge too far, light will get in. The reason why it doesn’t get in generally is because the film cartridge is covering the film and no direct light can hit the film. And since inside of the camera is all black, the light does not reflect too much.
Could this be harmful in anyway ? Want to make sure before I try it on my brand new camera
Definitely only try at your own risk. If you feel uncomfortable with it, I suggest to not try it.
