Watched for double exposure, then learned a whole load about lighting and using projectors in lighting. Thanks. Always nice to learn more than expected!!
Love that image, has something that reminds me of David Lynch RIP. Great process too reminds me of the days I'd experiment with long exposures using a small bathroom as my studio and slowly getting to the results I wanted
Your way of experimenting and making art with photography is so inspiring and motivating. I want to get into film and the frankinstax IS SO INSANELY GOOD.
The mask makes so much sense. Love your vids man, thanks for taking us on the journey with you, rather than smugly lecturing like so many do. You rock.
This was such a cool bts of how you get down. I love the energy in your workflow! Can’t wait to get weird and intentional with an instax back and some masks!
got my rb67 like a couple month ago and im going to into college for a photography and this shoot right here gets me so excited and inpired to try double exposures in the studio in the college. great vid!
I am currently working on a book/fanzine project with Instax photos on my Mamiya RZ 67, and I didn't know about masks at all. I had thought about making some with cardboard, this is just mind-blowing.
This is crazy. Been wanting to try this out on my RB67, but very hesitatant. The mask seem like they'll help with composition. Pick me, I'd love to try this out finally.. Thanks for always putting out great informative videos and getting me out of my comfort zone..
I’m a new RB67 user and I’ve been shooting a lot of street photography and experimental studio work! The frankenstax back would be perfect! Love your videos dude! ✌🏽
Great pics Linus. The instant back is great for this kind of work because it gives you quick feedback if you messed up the exposure. Certainly seems to have helped you plan for the medium format picture. Definitely need to find one of those for my Bronica.
I've been using the RB67 and would love to try out that mask! Picking up the Frankinstax soon too! I do street photography so I'm loving the idea of having instant shots to give to people to take home
Looking forwards to try that on my rb 67 as well! I used to draw lines on the groundglass for a similar Experiment because i didnt know about the masks😅
amazing video Linus! I was totally engrossed in your thought process and the entire shoot. I shoot with an RZ and I'm so keen to give some double exposures a try now!
Hey I've only shot a couple of accidental double exposures on my rb down here in New Zealand. Your shots were crazy good i had no idea they could be that good. I need one of those franks
This was super rad. I shoot with an rz but ill probably buy a mask anyway because ive only ever done rough, guesswork double exposures. Thanks for showing the workflow
Huge fan of them and that album, I can't say it was the inspiration for this photo or the posing but since I've seen that album cover hundreds of times, it must have been unconsciously inspiring the posing of this image!
Great video! I didn't even know I needed a double exposure mask until now! 😂 This would definitely help with shooting double exposures 😂 send one my way bro 😀
nice video, one of the best i seen in the topic of double exposure, i feel so inspired to explore something similar now. in terms of my favorite image from this video i would say for me was just before you got the perfect rounded spot light behind her for me the less simmetrical and more organic had some magic to it but of course it's your search. congratulations and thank you for sharing the process.
I don't have a RB or RZ but a 500cm saved from the trash and a HVSQ instax mag Thanks for the video, such an excellent way to explain multi exp! A mask tutorial would be great
Linus always looks like he is having so much fun shooting!!! Love these videos! I would love to try some double exposures with the RB67! I can't say that I am the best at exposing film but this seems like so much fun! I use the OG RB67 tho and its a bit beat up but it works lol
Nice work. How did the 120 film photos come out? Would have loved to see the whole roll of those photos not just the instax unless you showed those as well.
I actually only ended up shooting that single frame at the end on 120. I wish I did with the other shots, but I was too focused on getting the instax right and then jumping into the final concept tbh
Is there an order to follow when shooting double exposure, such as shooting the dark scene or the bright scene first? Or does it not matter as long as the composition is right?
i meter these normally! imagine either one of the exposures by itself. the white circle, and then the orange portrait. both of them never share the same space on the negative. that way, you’re just filling in negative space instead of trying to figure out the math of halving each exposure to compensate for the overlap, if that makes sense. i just shoot my double exposures with no overlap and line it up so every exposure has its own negative space!
@@linusandhiscamera Oh really appreciate you for the kind and detailed explain. I totally understand. 1. meter as single shot, and 2. try to use unexposed area of each shot. Right?
Using instant film to test double exposures seems really neat. Unfortunately my current best bet at double-exposing instax involves fiddling in the dark to put it in one of my TLRs, and then fiddling in the dark again to get it back into the Instax square camera. I really wish I had a medium format SLR that accepts one of those Instax backs right now, heh. They are generally quite expensive though, which is why my current medium format cameras are simply medium format TLRs and folders. Only one of them has any double-exposure prevention though, since they are too old to even have it, and on the one which actually has double exposure prevention it is easily bypassed by just manipulating the shutter lever on the lens directly rather than the on-body shutter button.
this is audio visual gold. thank you. these pics came out insane. Easily $50K for that jawn
I was literally just sitting here thinking about double exposure and you just uploaded this 19 mins ago mind-blowing
great minds think alike
@@linusandhiscamera spot on definitely thanks for sharing

Honestly if you said you made that shot in camera I would have thought you were lying. Unreal how good it is
Also major props to you for being totally transparent with your process. Very refreshing
thanks for watching! posted the negative of the 120 shot on instagram too so you can see that it’s the real deal
that's what we all waited for
i know that's right!
Love that image, has something that reminds me of David Lynch RIP. Great process too reminds me of the days I'd experiment with long exposures using a small bathroom as my studio and slowly getting to the results I wanted
holy crap that last one was insane idk how you do it but dont stop man
Watching your videos always makes me want to go out and experiment with my photography. Beautiful shots!
I love to hear it!
Easily one of the best, if not the best video about film photography that i've ever seen ! Genius work right there 👏
Ahhh thank you!
I just bought an rb67 and got an instant back for it. Can’t wait to try double exposure
Oh yeah I shoot an RZ and would love to try that mask for double exposures
