It’s worth noting that all shots were taken by pointing, setting the recommended setting and pressing the shutter button. With little care the Mini 8/9 can produce nicer shots. Also, some people like the “instax” look it gives. Thank you for you comment.
Seriously, there are so many "comparison" videos that don't show test shots. Can't believe it took me this long to find an actual comparison with test shots of the same subject.
I had a mini 8 for a lot of years and i loved it. Sure sometime the pics would get tooo light or toooo dark. It works best inside and I never take pics if it’s sunny outside. Then the LiPlay come out and I bought that one. Put I think the grafic and Quality is much worse than the mini 8. It’s way better at taking pictures outside and in the Sun but inside if it’s dark the quality of the pictures are super bad, like grainy. So I am keeping my two cameras and use the mini 8 inside and outside if it’s dark. And I use the LiPlay outside when is light. But still when it comes to the quality, the mini 8 is better. And I don’t just wanna print from my phone because that takes away the instant feeling of the camera
That is a great assessment! There is definitely room for both cameras on the market. Some people want the analog experience and some people only care for the final result. Based on what you said, you might enjoy the Instax Neo 90, it is analog and has more control than the Mini 9.
I'm glad that you took this 2 cameras. I bought mini 9 something about 2 months ago but it's too accidentally to take a good shot for me. I will sell it probably and today I will get Liplay. I hope it was a good decision... Thank you for your compression!
I have the instax mini 9 and sometimes i get so angry because of the exposure thing ruining my photos and wasting films... but now with your video i'm soo sure gonna buy the LiPlay btw i also watched the other videos and your channel is awesome ;)
I was so disappointed by the liplay. I was so so so excited about its particular innovations and preventing mistake prints. But it looks so bad, looks like an old 2000s digital camera printed on photo paper, whereas the 9, even with its constant exposure issues, looks so delightfully vintage and soft.
@@rayatr9783 but in terms of the detail do you think Liplay photos are good? I still have a feeling that the photos are a bit blurry compared to those taken by Mini 9 :(
Thanks so much. I just bought myself a mini Liplay on impulse so I'm now reading all that I can about it to decide if it's the right one for me or if I should return it before opening the box. I have a feeling it will be pretty perfect for what I want to use it for - I just want something to take some light hearted fun instant pics of the kids, pets etc.
Hello. Did you end up keeping it? And if so do you like it? I’m looking to purchase but can’t decide whether I should buy the Mini Liplay and or the Instax Mini Link printer. 🤔
@@Khriz187_ I really love it! The photo quality is better than I expected and I love that I can also send photos from the iphone to be printed too. Bear in mind it's only about 5mp quality, so don't expect miracles, but 5mp is also all you ever need for photos this size. My daughter has the printer and our comparison shows they are the same image wise, I can just take photos with mine. Hope this helps.
Sorry, I don't own the SP-2 and since the LiPlay does everything the SP-2 does, I am not planning to get the SP-2. But based on the specs I assume that the SP-2 and the LiPlay have the same printing module so the quality should be the same.
Depends on what you are after. For super easy picture taking and analog fun: Mini 11. For full control over your pictures: LiPlay. I will post my first video on the Mini 11 soon.
The resolution of the Instax film is pretty low (I think it is 10lines/mm) so you should be able to go pretty pretty low in resolution of the digital image and still get a good quality print.
Unfortunately not, I think I am more leaning to the analog cameras now. If I want to print I generally just use my inkjet printer (much cheaper per print).
I think so, with the LiPlay you can make it look almost any way you like. I think the difference is more about the experience, there is some magic in a purely analog camera (especially considering that we stare at our screens all day long anyway).
Thank you for this video I was really on the fence of which camera to get I was looking into hybrid cameras and was looking at the Polaroid snap touch and then came across the instax liplay
Those are quite different cameras: SQ6 is for Instax Square vs. Mini LiPlay is for Mini SQ6 is all Analog vs. LiPlay is a digital camera with built-in printer. To help you choose: Which format you want? If you don't care, pick the Mini since it is lot cheaper. Would you like to print from a smartphone? If yes, then definitely get the Mini LiPlay.
Hello, The liplay and mini 11 are very different cameras. Liplay is a digital printer with a digital camera built it. The mini 11 is a simple analog camera. I suggest watching my buying guide video, it explains the difference between liplay and analog cameras (e.g. Mini 8, 9, 11). In summary: If all you care about is nice looking pictures - I suggest the LiPlay. If you would like to have the "analog" experience - I suggest the Mini 11.
QUESTION: does the liplay also have a light sensor to know which mode or setting to be used? Like the ones in mini 9? Thank you so much for this. I just bought my instax mini 9 then like 6 months later they released the liplay in my country so welp. Now i know its really good. Kudos!
The LiPlay is essentially a digital camera on the inside. So it works like an iphone (the exposure is calculated based on what the pixels see to get a properly exposed photo.
I’m more into the classic one, I take the mini 8/9, if you wanna take a good pic, better use a real camera like Nikon or Canon or just phone then print it with the printer (its also cheaper), not the instax one. But everyone has a taste 😁
Absolutely! The whole instax lineup is a lot about the experience. I discuss this a fair about in my holiday buying guide video. Some people like the analog experience and some people only care about getting a little print on the spot. In my opinion both have a place in the market.
The LiPlay is essentially a digital camera on the inside. So it works like an iphone (the exposure is calculated based on what the pixels see to get a properly exposed photo.
Hi! Thank you for your video. I have a question tho, If I transfer the photos from the mini LiPlay to my phone (via SD card) Will I get the same effects with the photos printed? (like what usual instax pictures would look like) Or the transferred photos would look “more digital” than the printed ones directly from LiPlay? Thank you so much, hoping you’d respond. 😊
Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately if you transfer images through the SD card, you will just get the plain digital images (no effects and no frames). But now if you update the app and the firmware of the Liplay you will be able to transfer printed images from the Liplay to the phone and those images will the effects applies. But one problem, the images with the effects are very low resolution. I will make videos on both topics.
Help me guys. I wanted to buy my first instax but I am undecided beacuse I want the mini 90 neo classic but I also want this liplay. Which one do you think is better?
I am planning to make a purchasing guide video soon. The biggest question for you to ask whether you care about the process. Do you care if the picture taking process is fully analog or you don't care if it is digital in the background. If you want an analog experience: Pick the Neo 90. If all you care about is the final result: I suggest the LiPlay.
Hi there, I got some problems with my LiPlay. I use “No Filter” and no flash to take an indoor picture, but the result is my pic got green tone only when I print it out. Do you know how to fix it? Thanks a lot!
Sorry, no plan to get the SQ20. I already have too many Instax cameras. In the square format I have the Lomo cameras, planning to review those in next few months.
I'm planning to buy this today. I hope it's worth it. Also, I'm gonna buy it from a China supplier in Shopee. Is it a good idea? Because it's cheaper there. It's original but costs half of the price.
I found the voice feature pretty useless, the QR code takes up valuable space on the picture. If you are only planning to print from your phone, I would just get the printer and save some money.
Since the film is so expensive I have not had issues with draining the battery. I think I read somewhere that it should last 10 packs of film. Definitely less if you spend a lot of time looking at the images on the LCD. But in general the cost of film will keep the battery life in check. The only time I could see it being an issue would be at an event (e.g. a wedding) where burning through 100+ pics can easily happen.
It depends on what you are looking for. Having the camera function on the LiPlay is nice if you want to go smartphone free for a moment. The only downside of the Liplay compared to the printer is the slight increase in price. But with the cost of the film, this extra cost is definitely worth it to me. But you mileage might vary.

I am sorry to hear that. For me it was working well out of the box. Are pictures from a phone also looking bad?
