    Not NFL Offense, But brett kollmann breaks down NFL game film and offensives. This QB School like offensive breakdown goes deep into the NFL spread concepts and how high school football can use NFL style plays covered by brett kollmann and QB School

    I’m an OL coach from a flexbone team (currently a free agent) but I love watching your videos! You’re so thorough and I always learn something from watching them. I’ve got a couple of questions for you:
    1.) I’ve always wondered. How tough is it to get your center to snap and pull? This is one of the aspects that has always scared me away from Pin and Pull
    2.) The school I’m really looking at is a spread team that sees a lot of Bear front (5-2) with quarters behind it. Aside from simply throwing more, can you block pin and pull vs these fronts without it turning into a series of 1v1’s? I’m beginning to think inserting a TE and running belly might be a better off-tackle play to combat that (don’t kill me 😉)

      Coach Smith,
      Thank you for the kind words, sir. It means a lot to me that you take time out of your day to watch me ramble on about football. I am a huge fan of the flexbone. I will always stop what I am doing to watch any option team that's on TV.
      1)It's a little difficult at first. But we rep it every single day starting in the winter. Our guys do it so much that they get the hang of it. Of course, there have been a couple of times where are guys couldn't get it. In that case, we will just full zone the play and lockout on the backside.
      2)Hahah, you know I'm going to say throw the ball more. But if you want to run the ball then I would check to straight zone and base the backside. That's our check if we see Bear.

    Against 1st Coverage: Tag the F with a whip route. after running the snag the amount you would, have him run a whip to create a natural pick by Y and you should have F get a good amount of yards. On your second coverage: You can also call Y or L delay streak on your "Bubble". On your switch concept...If the #2 is free running, get him the ball...DO NOT wait for the snag route to complete...shred the defense and he is off and running...for a long gain or a possible TD :)

      I like your idea on running the snag route with the F. I'm going to steal it and use it during Spring ball this year.

      who is responsible for backside a-gap if get lb run through?

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 лет назад

      Most of the time we either hand the ball off or throw it before the run through gets there. If the guy is in a walked up position then our center will make a 'Zo' call and we just full zone the thing. The backside tackle will always lock on to the EMOL so he isn't effected with the call.
      Does that make sense?

    Hey coach, what are your coaching points for your C and BSG? Are they mapping(reading the PST block..if DE crashes, it becomes a sweep more or less) or are they dedicated to getting outside the OT/turning up into the A/B gap? Great vid, thank you for sharing!

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  6 лет назад

      Thanking for watching coach. They are hunting the play side linebacker and middle backer. So if the front side DE crashes then they will go outside the tackle and get their guys. If the DE isn't getting reached then they will fold up inside.
      Hope that makes sense.

    Coach as far as pulling the center does his timing be off with the snap count at times?

  • @andrewclarke3044
    @andrewclarke3044 7 лет назад +1

    hey coach, is this your version of outside zone. i wouldn't exactly call this a buck sweep. we run buck. but i will crack the DE or have a TE/wing/Sniffer block the DE. playside linemen have one rule if you have no one to down block your pulling. 1st puller kicks slot corner. next pulls blocks alley player.

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 лет назад

      Coach Clarke,
      This is our outside zone play. I know it isn't a true buck because we don't have an extra man blocking on the line. I call it buck because the kids understand what we are trying to do, and they have a Wing-T background.

      Coach McKie I gotcha I've seen your inside zone, this and your power runs, do u run a counter-Trey Read Running Play?

      Coach Clarke,
      Yes sir. We love to run counter-trey. In fact, I'm going to be doing a series on it in the upcoming weeks.

    Hey Coach Mckie, I saw you had some Run and Shoot videos on the channel, but I was interested in knowing if any of those concepts were used by the K-Gun with the Bills of the 90's? I've heard the K-Gun was just a formation where the Bills had a TE in instead of a 4th wideout, but I don't know how the Run and Shoot ties in with it all.

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 лет назад

      Hey Coach,
      I don't know much about the K-Gun except that they used some form of Choice and 4-verts. Sorry.

    • @HawkingRegime13
      @HawkingRegime13 7 лет назад +1

      Coach McKie No biggy, it just seems like most people are unaware of any popular concepts those Bills used lol

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 лет назад

      I'm thinking, and I could be wrong here, but from my studying of the offense it was similar to what Peyton Manning did while he was at the Colts. A good amount of Levels, Verticals, and Choice ran at break neck speed - at least break neck speed for the 90s.
      Also, Jim Kelly called all of the plays. He didn't get anything from the sidelines. I know that's how Bill Belichick messed with him in the Super Bowl. He found out Jim called the plays and developed his game plan around messing with Kelly's calls.

      Coach McKie Alright thanks I appreciate it. From looking at the K-Gun playbook from 94' that makes a lot of sense.

    How would you block this against even front coach?

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 лет назад

      Coach Martinez,
      When we run the Pin and Pull against an Even front it turns into a fold block. If we are running it to a 3-tech then we will block back on the 1-tech with the center and fold the backside guard. If we are running it to a 1-tech then we will block back with the play side guard and fold the center.

    What is your call for this play? you say 3 words? pin and pull? or one word?

  • @AndyGiese
    @AndyGiese 7 лет назад +1

    Coach, the timing between pull and pass wont work.... Maybe if you play it under center it will work! You will become a illegal men downfield every play!

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 лет назад

      Coach Giese,
      Thank you for taking time out of your day to watch my video and leave a comment. It means a lot to me for you to do that.
      We've only been called down the field once in the three years we've been running this play. The ball is quickly out of the quarterback's hands if his Read key gives a pull read. We rep it every day in practice. So he understands how quick the ball must be out.
