They practiced for months with very knowledgeable fencing teachers. When not in a scene acting they practiced. Great story.
The most legit swordfights often look bad on camera, whereas the stupidest ones always look flashy

Read "As You Wish" by Cary Elwes. He talks about all the sword training they went through for that one scene. A great read as well.

Andre the Giant scaling the wall easily, reminiscent of Adam West and Burt Ward from the original Barman series. Impressive, just ask Dan Holloway.
The first reading-to-movie of the 80’s was Neverending Story. Pure classic. Legendary classic.

The one classic movie re-make I'd like to see is The Princess Bride. Mostly done exactly as before but with Fred Savage reading the same book his grandfather read to him as a child to his own kids. The son or daughter's reaction to the story being the only change. Hafþór Björnsson (The Mountain from GoT) would make a great Fazzik the Giant. Billy Crystal could possibly reprise his role as Miracle Max. Well I can dream, Hollywood so rarely gives us movies we'd like to watch anymore.
You'd have to reshoot in all the same places too, and maybe they'll manage not to film the bus on the Moors outside Sheffield this time.

@RichardRyan Mandy Patinkin and Cary Elwes studied fencing under a world class fencer for months before filming the scene. When everyone on set was on break, the Fencing master would have them rehearse. The only part they needed doubles for was the acrobatics. Most fencers (of which I am not) agree that these guys move like fencers and display a mastery of the moves, although for movie's sake, there is some less realistic aspects to the fight.
How have you not seen Princess Bride? I use the "I don't think that means what you think it means" at least once a month for the last 30 years.
Bruce was a showman and turned down all fights and sparring. Andre was a wrestler, that’s a Rough & Rowdy fight.
Yeah, they put hours upon hours into that first duel. Watch the making of for Princes Bride, it makes it a whole different movie.
Check out the movie on RUclips it was made in the 60s in Southern California and it’s called skater dater. It was filmed in the south bay area I Redondo Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, Rolling hills. It’s old-school 16 mm film much like Warren Miller used.
