I know someday, someone (probably my son) will be going through my life/crafts and say “what was she thinking”. They’ll have no idea what to do with it all. But to me it’s my treasures, my life, my security. Now I’ll be adding painty pages. I’m only 68, I’ve got a lifetime of crafting ahead of me. I think I need to walk down to our community book exchange and see what I can find.😊❤😊
Have fun hunting.
Me too, I'm 66 and loving every minute of the time I find to craft. I've been painting book pages whilst on holiday right now. X
I'm 76 and I have tons of collage fodder. Maybe she with the most collage stuff wins? Anyway, it makes me happy.
Mindful cleanup resulting in fabulous pages for collage. Love it! Thanks for sharing, Ceri. ❤
These are great ideas, Ceri! Thank you for sharing! ❤
Good morning Ceri 💙. Oh gosh.I love this video, but what I like the most is the painty pages! I aspire to be as good as you with my Gel printing and painty pages. I know my name isn’t Ceri and I need to do me, but I want to be Debbie with a “Ceri flare!” Have a blessed day. 😊
Have fun Debbie.
Another interesting and inspiring video, what a wonderful colourful selection of pages you’ve made, I’m looking forward to seeing how you use them. Thanks Ceri 😊 ❤
I absolutely love you and your page, Ceri! You’re so creative and freely share with us all kinds of bits & tips! ❤️ Thank you!
You are so welcome
You are so wonderful at explaining everything. Thank you ❤
So nice of you, thank you Brenda.
Feeling so inspired! I can’t wait to see more videos 🎉
I love your unapologetic “I keep what I need to keep.” 😊
Thanks!! ❤❤❤
Nothing short of BRILLIANT!
Again, well thought out explanations for our benefit. So grateful to you, Ceri, for widening our imagination. This helps me feel more confident to try a beneficial idea 💡 Love how you keep things in an orderly fashion 😂❤
Great explanation of the painty papers as well as ideas. And thanks for the idea of the seam ripper using the ball end. 😊
I love watching you, very relaxing and I always come away having learned something or feeling inspired. 🌸🌸🌸✂️✂️✂️🍄🍄🍄
Thank you so much!
Thank you Ceri, for all of your tips and tricks on your painted pages.
Also why you do things is even helpful.
Have a wonderful day.❤
Thank you! You too
These are a great idea to not only brayer off, but to use up those book pages!
Really love your system it’s brilliant thank you for sharing with us
Great tip on how you make these painty pages, it will be fun to see how you use them☺
I see from your wonderful prints that this a great way to get some awesome, unexpected results - and how fabulous to be creative and conscientious all at the same time. XO
great ideas for removing intact book covers. Love the seam ripper idea.
Very beautiful gorgeous painty papers I ❤it I'm going to give it a try
Have fun
Learned so much today. Would have never thought about the reason you only do one side of the page, but it makes perfect sense. Also never thought of ways you could use the colored pages from the front & back of a book. Great video! ❤
Glad it was helpful
This was very interesting! You are a natural teacher!
Thank you so much for sharing your great ideas!
Love watching your videos!
❤
Glad you like them
Good morning dear Ceri, so much awesome information, all your painty papers are beautiful. I have started using my book pages to roll off on as well so thank you. Thanks for all you do, I really appreciate you and everything you bring to your videos. Have a blessed day , big hugs ❤
Thank you so much Brenda
I like this idea. I roll off my brayer in an encyclopedia but I often have pages sticking together. I know where I could get books to tear up.
Your videos are the best. Thank you so much. This video is very useful.❤❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊
Hey Ceri, I too paint an doodle in books but I love the idea of tearing the book into thirds. So much better then my current method of sticking pieces of wax paper between all the wet pages and hoping for the best. Thanks for the tip. Now off to watch your new stencil storage video ~Patti
Love your process...always so much inspiration!! 😊🧡🖌🎨
Thank you…..a lot of new ideas for my mind!,,,,,
Thank you for this awesome and informative video; great points on which books to use and to consider their written content!
Hello from Colorado! Book pages are one of my favorite things, so I'm really happy to find your video. And your pages are gorgeous! Next time I'm at the thrifty I'll get a book and get started! Thank you so much for sharing.
Another great idea. I saw Gayle use the pages for gluing, and then she would fold them in half for I believe pockets, etc. I use them to glue. When too sticky I then really glue, stick it everywhere, and then fold in half. I then tear it apart for college. Master board in another book I use as a c Master collage book. I like to stamp on them and color with markers. I also like to turn them into journaling cards or tags. It is interesting how we never run out of paper. 😂
Sounds great.
Very informative and excellent ideas❣️🤗💖🦋
Fantastic information, tfs ❤😊
Great stuff, Ceri. Right up my street. To date I've been doing this on separate sheets but I love the use of old books, especially as you've got ready made covers for pennies too! I love recycling, upcycling, making art out of rubbish. So satisfying. I love the randomness of painty papers. I also save all the kitchen paper I use for mopping up ink - I've got a box of it, and I select one with ink of the analagous or contrasting colour on it already so I don't end up with mud. Once the paper is completely covered, it goes flat in a pizza box. Being 2-ply you get double for your money. Sometimes I get that pizza box out and just riffle through all the papers and stroke them lol! When collaged they feel like fabric. Gorgeous! I don't use baby wipes very often but when I do, I save them in the same way. They are really tactile when collaged.
Fabulous idea.
I started a book like this after watching your gelplat videos. I did not take away the cover so it keeps closing on me, so thank you, now I will remove the cover and it will function better. Love all the beautiful pages you have made. ❤
Wonderful
Ceri, such gorgeous painting Love it. Thank you for sharing.
Hey Ceri! What a great video and perfectly timed for me. I just bought 4 lovely books to repurpose in a similar fashion. I started altering one for a journal already, but the other 2 or 3 will be torn down as you suggested. I was going to leave the books together and paint the pages, but now I know better! Thank you so much 😊
Wonderful
Absolutely awesome Ceri. Love watching your creations
Thanks so much 😊
Love it! Great ideas and beautiful pages! I tend to want to frame each one (of yours) instead of using them in another creation! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you
Brilliant idea! Will give this a go. I use printer paper right now to clean ink from my stencils and stamp off ink. I call those my "ghost papers" and I use them in my JJing. Thank you 🥰
As usual, a very clear and fun technique to use old book pages. Need to get my books out. Thanks Ceri!
Great painty papers Ceri❤
So very useful information, thank you for this❤
Wonderful! Now you’re using the ENTIRE book. Wonderful! Thank you!
You are so welcome
This is a great idea, and you explained your process well. Thanks!

Ginger and my little Gertie 🐕🐕🐕💕
Thanks so much! 😊
💜💜💜
❤📚
I use my craft scalple and carefully cut a little at a time which works.
Ialso cut on the other side of the last page if in good condition as a cover page to glue my journals or books in, otherwise I put my fabric books in without the back page.
VERY COOL M'DEAR xxxxx
Not mine originally but hopefully with my own twist.
👍🌸🌸🌸
I have a bunch of crumbly old books that I bought for collage in a different manner. However, this looks like so much FUN that I'm going to change midstream and make painty papers. I have a ton of painted papers but, can anyone really have too many?
Love your vibe, art, philosophy, Ceri. Everyone lauds art making and experimentation in books. But how do ppls paint 1 page, wait till it does or prop it up risking mess, or do pll work in multiple books parallel. I'm which case there's no continuity, a hodge podge of experimenting. In random books. Plus what if you love a page and want to use it as a painting or collage pieces, so now the book is ripped up and the Pic on the other side is lost... So I use individual pages and store them in a presentation booklet with plastic sleeves.
We each find the best way of working and creating, no two people create the same.
@CeriGriffiths true but how do ppl use a book then?
The paper down the spine of the old book- is that what you used to create the tree limb on the owl post card? I remember that texture being quite beautiful.
Yes it is Kim.
Years ago I remember watching Cat Hand, and she mentioned that someone commented about her throwing out leftover paint, and so she started to make "A journal of unwanted paint". If I can find a video, I'll link it. ruclips.net/video/gGfz0D5HGRY/видео.html I started one of them, but found it annoying because waiting on paint to dry is like... waiting on paint to dry. I love that you've torn the books down so you don't get the pages stuck together. I may revisit that and try tomake it a habit using book pages this way. Great video as usual, Ceri!
Have fun.
Next week's episode what to do with the covers
In the future maybe
Because you are so cautious about not offending people, you might want to know some religious groups think fortune-telling is the devil's work. (It's pretty difficult not to offend anyone.)
I must admit I thought of that but I think it’s highly unlikely the majority of my creative community friends would be offended. Also I’d be covering 99% of it up anyway, you’d have to be really looking hard to be offended.
Great video full of info gold nuggets thxs @cerithecrafter ❤
