In becoming a monster and then taming that beast while recognizing that part of ourselves as being capable of extreme violence can we become a good person.

What's great about an anti hero is they do what needs to be done no matter what people think. Some people wait for approval from others and don't accomplish anything. The anti hero, is unconventional, but does what's needed.

"being able to be cruel, and then not being cruel". this is biblically addressed in Matt 5:5, "the meek shall inherit the earth" which is often thought to refer to pacifists and gentle people. This is incorrect. The Greek prah-ooce is used to represent the strong who stay their hand, as it did describing Jesus "righteous and victorious" riding into Jerusalem peacefully on a donkey. Jesus, of course will return on "the great and the terrible Day of the Lord", "Behold, the day of the Lord is coming,
cruel, with fury and burning anger, to make the land a desolation; and He will exterminate its sinners from it."

I would love taking his class. I'm sure I'd fail, but it'd still be interesting; like Biology. I nearly failed out of Biology, but it was one of my favorite classes because everything was so interesting. Just, none of the information stuck to me. I had an A+ in Philosophy though. The teacher was a closet conservative, and she ran her classes like an open discussion forum.

@Carl Hopf Oh, I'm long gone out of school now. I got my BA in Cinematography and got on. Bio was an awesome subject though. I even bought my textbook just so I could break it open once in a while. And, got a pretty nice microscope to pair with it.

      Are you serious?
I was just about to say the comment below, when I saw your comment and felt I had to place it here ....
" I wonder how many of his class realise how brilliant he is at integrating the lessons of history, literature and arts, religions, society, psychology, a lived life, and internal self.
If you have enough life experience and internal awareness, his articulate synthesis and explanations crystalise one's own reflections, knowledge and experience into AhHa nuggets of intuitive understandings laid along the path of his narrative."
If you do not understand this, then I am sorry for you, for you are experientially blind. My guess is that you did not listen to all the lecture.
Or maybe you are just very young and so, all you hear are words and not the experiential, intellectual, and societal wisdom. If the latter is the case, fair enough, no worries, you will grow up bit by bit each day. Welcome to the journey.
