Caleb, you are truly one of the few people teaching this stuff that isn't spewing out regurgitated BS. I point a lot of film grads to you instead of other "gurus" that live inside of an echo chamber. Love you brother.

As someone who really has to do it all I really appreciate seeing what others are using and what they find useful. Equipment always seems to be changing and some equipment is just around forever. thanks so much. Those impact stand and c -stands have changed my work life completely. I am no longer dying at the end of a days shoot because of lugging around C-Stands with 2k Lights on them. Wheels change the GAME.

Caleb, just wanted to say thanks for this. Ordered the Impact C-Stand which arrived today. I now really understand the difference. Had an inexpensive but not horrible light stand. Can you comment on how the Intellytech Pocket Canon compares to the daylight version Aputure LS20 light? I'm looking for a small light to use for hair light and accent light, and curious to know how these two lights compare. My main interest is knowing how much light shaping can be done with the barn doors and fresnel focusing.

  • @MarcosElMalo2

This video came up again on my suggestions. I gotta say, I’m even more impressed with the intellytech panels. You could make a grip & lighting truck out of your compact hatchback. 😄 Just put a stand rack on the roof for your c-stands, baby stands, 6’ ladder, etc.
I might have said this elsewhere, buy I’m very pleased you’re getting into “big frames”. Even better outdoors, because you can use them as a bounce, you can mount an overhead silk. If you’re shooting an interior and the window is blowing out, throw a net on that frame and position it outside the window. Make sure the camera isn’t focused on the net, of course. Way easier, faster, better looking than putting ND gel on the window.

    HI Caleb,
I would like a video request pls. In Hong Kong, we typically live in very small apartments. We face the challenge of limited space to shoot and to store away gear, so a compact, quick set up and easy to store away set up is needed. Would you be able to do a video on this?

Any advice on whether to go with COB (Aputure 120d or Godox SL-60) and lightdome style soft box vs LED panels (like Intellytech or Falconeyes) bare or plus soft box - for a relatively static vlogging set up at a desk like this? I have a reasonable amount of space, so squeezing in lightdome not impossible, but I really like the idea of being able to fly lightweight lights higher up. A cleaner, tidier and easier to move set up would be a bonus, but top priority is just great light. Love these vids... no end of inspiration, just gotta decide and jump in!

Cool video. I like my grip gear as well. If you are featuring Impact grip gear could I ask that you review the Impact Aluminum Mid-Range Boom Arm. I think most indies shoot on location rather than studios and that particular boom looks like a good travel/location option. I have both Manfrotto travel booms and a Mathews steel and an Avenger but (not being in the USA) I don't have that impact boom and it might have some advantages over those ie it doesn't need to be put together like the Manfrottos and it is much shorter when closed down than the steel booms. Personally I would really like to see the maximum weight at full extension tested. To see how much it bows. I couldn't find any videos on it and for the average indie finding a location boom is hard, all of the cheap ones I ever bought were useless junk.
Love the black on one side white on the other sound blankets. I will look out for those. I only have black.

Will follow feedback. As main light, didn't really wanna take the risk. Second lights... Will look forward. Hope u'll go on the pro market some day, like Westtcot, Aladin & compare them to the mid level.
