I never expected you to upload 25-60+ minute videos daily during the month of Jrose. You’ve really gone above and beyond what was expected of you.
Jrose isn't known for short videos.
@@mh11213 I’ve been watching him for like 5 years mate. I’m just glad he’s putting out so much good content
It'll be sad for us when it's over, but probly good for jroses health. Can't imagine this is good for him.
I hope he made some of them early to give himself a bit of a break.
He should stop slacking off and do 3 videos a day at 69 min +
Had a feeling Pichu would be a struggle, but if Togepi and Shuckle have taught me anything, it's that when there's a Rollout, there's a way.
You could say, they rolled their way out...
Also helps that while Pichu's stats are bad, it's best stat of speed at 60 really helps. If you can go first, there is always a chance to win.
A funny anecdote on the “Gen 2 miss”: it actually *is* a thing, but it’s almost invisible. There’s still a 1/256 chance to miss every secondary status condition, including supposedly guaranteed ones like Zap Cannon. Since those kinds of moves tend to be awful, this glitch may as well not exist in practice, but it’s amusing nonetheless
This guy is suffering just to entertain us. You can even feel it on his voice. He's a legend
He was literally like "why are you evening watching anymore" lmao
Thanks jrose
Red wasn't being mysterious this time. He was just speechless at being beaten by a kid wielding a Pichu.
Big brain: Never evolve Pikachu
Galaxy brain: Never evolve Pichu
And that pichu wasn’t even too over levelled.
This Pichu run gets the OG Bug Catcher official stamp of approval! 👍
I love Pichu's back sprite! I wish they did more full-body backs before Gen 5, since Gen 2 had my favorite art style and color scheme.
I think they only did them for babies.
@@chrisdaignault9845 Of all the babies in Gen II, only Pichu and Togepi have full body back sprites, though a few regular Pokémon got them, too: Zubat, Magnemite, Ledyba, Unown, Qwilfish. Several more are very nearly full back sprites but are just barely cut off at the bottom, such as Diglett, Oddish, Mew, and Igglybuff. I find it funny that Voltorb didn't quite get a full back sprite despite being the perfect candidate for it!
I think the main contributing factor for the leap in back sprite quality between Gen I and Gen II is the fact that Gen I, for whatever reason, used half resolution back sprites that were only 28 pixels tall/wide. Each pixel was scaled up 2x to match the enemy's front-facing 56 x 56 sprites, leaving so much blockiness and little room for detail. Gen II designed back sprites with the full 56 x 56 sprite size in mind from the beginning.

Wow HP Ice was so insanely lucky. That was like the best possible hidden power type available, and it also had a high power. Absolutely insane
water/grass/fire could have also work
I love how Gyarados felt bad for your Pichu and set up the Rain so it could land Thunder. So nice of them.
Them. 🤔
@@gaobot It's this annoying new-age speak that people are doing because they want to act like there's no gender. 😑 He actually meant to say "He". He used Rain Dance.
Shouldn't it be "it"?
@@KingStr0ng its a fucking pokemon nobody can be bothered to check the gender for a goddamn comment
@@fgvcosmic6752 It shows that it's male right on the screen.
Depending on your Stat EXP after Falkner, you likely couldn't have asked for a much better Pichu
Having Hidden Power Ice means you had 14 or 15 HP, 15 Attack, 13 Defense, 15 Speed, and any possible Special for DVs, with Hidden Power being 66, 67, 68, 69, or 70 base power, based on the Special DV
Man I love gold/silver. Truly one of the most exciting video game releases of my life. And the discovery that we could revisit kanto after the elite 4 was absolutely mind blowing!
It just kept giving! The elite four felt climactic, but NOTHING compared to Red.
need more dual region games, its such a great idea.
It was very cool to me how the regions bordered eachother as well
@@TheAuron32 a lot of things in scarlet/violet hint to maybe visiting Kalos in DLC. That's not the same thing, but I'll take it. Maybe we'll finally get some Volcanion context
@@sheer_1 i would love to go back there, it never felt the storey was quite complete
“Entire enemy team is babies!”
-Heavy, Team Fortress 2
I love the idea of this tiny little Pichu just furiously rolling into everything and knocking out pokemon left and right.
I saw tha5 in the anime once
Jrose: *uses a Pichu*
Silver: "You only won because my pokémon are weak"
22:35 Losing to Pichu? That's gotta be embarrassing. I don't blame her for being mad.
Hey Jrose, your videos are not only interesting but also very comforting. Thank you for the effort you put into every video, especially during the month of Jrose! :)
I get so nostalgic for this generation. Pokemon Gold was my first ever video game. Not only was it my intro to the franchise, it defined what a video game could be for me. Everything about it just makes me feel so happy and carefree.
Even with Whitney. Pure evil, that one.
omg same. My big brother got me Pokemon Silver the year it was released and it was basically the bane of my existence for a year or so. It taught e about persistence and about getting through stuff no matter how frustrating it gets i.e. whitney, bugsy, claire, and the little puzzles really messed with my head but made me a stronger person
Silvers my favourite, played blue first but silver just felt like a suped up Blue to my child mind
10:33 - This scene right here seems like this run in a nutshell. Pichu can get all the luck in the world (70% thunder hit, 30% paralyze), but with such bad stats, it can’t even hit hard enough to guarantee a win, and all it takes is a little bad luck (37.5% chance of paralyzed DynamicPunch) to lose it all.
I dont even play Pokemon anymore, but these videos are so nostalgic to my childhood! Please dont stop jrose.
don't worry, there's still like 800 pokemon ;)
@@jonathanschubert9052 theres over 1k pokemon
@@majorasmask5229 I know, and jrose has done about 200 of them
I’m loving the personality of your editor showing up in the recent vids seems like great person
Aha, thanks for the kind words!
The reason Return did more than Thunder is because the Hitmons got a huge special defense buff in gen 2, as opposed to their like 35(?) special in gen 1.
Great timing from RUclips: "You want to hear something terrible?" And the video immediately cut to an ad. Not a glowing endorsement!
Not resetting after losing to level up on the E4 isnt the best idea if you are using Return. Fainting reduces friendship a lot.
Your editor is goated for keeping up with this month of daily content. Also RIP your editor 💀
15:55
Wow, Pryce was a Rocket grunt all along!
Unreal how consistently high quality these uploads have been. I expected daily uploads to mean the lengths would drop but here we are. What a legend.
Jrose has been doing this style of video for years. It'd be hard but he's experienced so he knows how to be efficient
Running the damage calcs, Pichu's Hidden Power is at least 60 base power. That's pretty solid for a random Pichu.
HP Ice was probably THE best Hidden Power you could've asked for. electric is resisted by itself, Grass, Dragon and has no effect against Ground. But ice is super effective against Ground/Dragon/Grass and neutral against Electric. As such Electric+Ice is only resisted by Magnemite/Magneton in Gen2.
Wow, RUclips recommended me this after 38 seconds. You've clearly won the algorithm.
Ooh man, pichu is gonna be pretty rough all things considered. I can see jasmine especially being incredibly difficult with her steelix and magnemites.
She was he had to overlevel a ton for that
On the bright side
Lance n Clair were super EASY for pichu
Hidden power ice really was clutch. Ice moves are great coverage for electric types generally since it hits ground and grass types that electric has a hard time with.
The month of Jrose is like the gift that keeps on giving
It's gonna be hard going back to a normal schedule after you spoiled us like this. I always hope to see one of your videos in my subscription feed ever since 2020. Theres something deeply comforting about your videos.
Next G/S/C challenge should include overcoming the true ultimate trainer: Cal, in the Viridian City Trainer House.
Thank you Jrose for all your content. It's always a fun watch!
Ngl this month of jrose is amazing, genuinely looking forward to next year if you plan to do this again. Getting to see your videos every now and then was nice but getting to see em every day is just amazing (but try not to burn yourself out and don't forget to take a well deserved break after this month)
Man, and I thought Pichu in FRLG was bad.
Love the daily content. Will hate it when it's over. Look forward to it every night
Dude your videos have been so good lately! Finishing the year with a bang!
1:50 “but do you want to hear something terrible” *ad break* …Perfect placement
These have been a rough couple of months. Your videos help very much, specially before bed. Thanks for all your hard work.
Everytime Jrose says "so yeah we're going to lose this battle" I'm like "ok so this is the one he finally wins in"
Hey Jrose, just wanted to say thank you for having brightened so many of my days during the last few weeks. Love your content!
It's incredible that you're dropping hit after hit with these videos. I know it must be super difficult at times and I just like to say that your passion for these games and these videos is remarkable
Month of Jrose has been great, you sir should know your work ethic is greatly appreciated.
Awesome run! The month of Jrose has been truly amazing 👏 keep up the great work.
Wow I've never been THIS early for a JRose video. Pichu is my favorite baby.
That ending was really unexpected! Awesome video, As always, thank you!
Your videos have reignited my love of pokemon. After watching your first few videos I actually bought a new copy of yellow so I could play while listening.
Let's go jrose!! Love you and everything you do man keep up the great work! Always a good day when I see a jrose video and this month has been absolutely great!
That Pichu sprite is so nice man
You creep.
Right on! Your commentary on videos is the best, helps me feel like I'm watching it live, albeit condensed.
Also, have you considered adding Weedle and Magikarp to the RBY tier list under a DNF tier? That could be a neat thing!
Thanks as always, Jrose. :)
Thank you Jrose! It’s been really hard week for me and the month of Jrose has been such a wonderful and welcome distraction. Very grateful!
This got me back on Pokemon can’t lie Jrose appreciate you G!
This is some marathon work JRose. This is why you're the GOAT
I want you to know I appreciate the timed cut of, "you want to hear something terrible?" and that be the time for an ad. Brilliant.
Just wanted to say I love your content, really digging this month. :)
You make the best videos to fall asleep to OR to entertain you when you’re awake. That’s talent.
Shout out aj the editor, you deserve some love for the month that is jrose also!
That was unreal run. Thanks for your videos. 👍
Nico Nico Ni, brother
Love your videos, man. Keep it up!
I subscribed i watch your videos sometimes but seeing you put out a video every day, mad respect bro
Holy shit man I can't even keep up with this content release schedule. What you're doing is legendary.
Jrose you clearly have the patience of a god!
Love your challenge runs. Keep up the fantastic work
Bro i discovered your channel like a week ago and i have already seen all the imposible challenges i love it keep it up ❤️
Great content & always tune in when it’s a personal fav Mon
News update: Jrose attempts something the Pokemon and Smash Melee competitive communities deem unlikely. Pichu taking a regional.
My favorite Pokémon
Im addicted to these vids. Keep up the good work
I suppose the answer will be "No"
finally someone who is polite! jrose makes questions in the title of every video and no one answers him
@@Pao-vo8mf nice
I never comment on anything, but thanks so much for all our are doing man. I can't tell you how much I look forward to your stuff, let alone this awesome month. Literally the other day I told my wife that she should just go out with the girls so I could have a chance to catch up on all these vids your cranking out. You are actually, truthfully, making them faster than I can even watch them. It is absolutely not going unappreciated!
That was brutal! Very cathartic though when you finally got it
"Do you wanna hear something terrible!?"
*Ad break*
This is GOLDDDD
I love when the text says (it's not very effective) but it one shots the Pokémon lmao
The month of Jrose will go down as a highlight of my year.
I very much enjoyed watching you narrow down what Hidden Power was going to be.
Mud-Slap is 20 Power.
Rollout the Gen 2 runs!
I watched this whole thing and loved every bit
thank you for all those vids. i cannot make it up to. You are the best. love you!
15 def with 20 HP... this will hurt
Might be the squishiest physically defensive mons
Correction, that is diglett but pichu is solid #2
The base stat difference between Pichu and Elekid is 155, which is greater than the difference Between Pichu and Pikachu (115).
Magby, Elekid and Munchlax are stupidly powerful for baby pokémon, yeah.
Better than expected! I laughed watching Pichu taking on Machamp with a little swipe of a return and one shotting it!
Awesome vid once again dude.
Awesome as always!
Man, I love sequels. And I loved this video, leave it to Jrose to make something like Pichu entertaining to watch twice over.
For your next solo run of Kanto, I have a question that I would like answered: Which Gen 1 Fire-type is worth using your Fire Stone on? You've done Eevee and Flareon, now how about Growlithe/Arcanine and Vulpix/Ninetales? As a massive Arcanine fan, I would like to know which is best. (Day 20 of asking)
I love the impossible ones because it's just you venting about how it sucks. good video
Finish a Jrose video. See Jrose uploaded a new video while you were watching that. Be happy.
I’ve been looking forward to this
The giddiness in your voice while defeating lance was the purest thing, I almost cheered with you when Pichu won!! Thank you for the daily videos in this, the month of Jrose
Hey Jrose I've been going through some medical complications (kidney stones) and while passing them and being messed up by my medicine i gotta say your videos have helped a lot! They are very comforting and homely! Thank you!
Jrose is an animal! Appreciate the good content keep it up!
I'm still confused at how Pichu can't Thunder Punch...
Its hands are too small
"He hit my hands. Nobody has ever hit my hands, I've never heard of this before. Look at those hands, are those small hands? And he referred to my hands - if they're small, something else must be small? I guarantee you there's no problem." - Pichu
This month of Jrose has been the best RUclips content I've ever experienced 🙌 👌 👏
In gold and silver, I recall a fisherman house near the lake of rage that can give you ether amoung other things if you show him a magikarp.
Jrose popping these out on the daily. I can't go to bed at night until I catch them. Last night I stayed up late knowing one was coming out. Electrode went hard. I was a little late to work this morning but this man's content is a lifestyle at this point so the6 gonna have to deal with it.
Loving the month of jrose!!! Got me curious on a yellow version pikachu only run with your rules
I personally love the long videos. I know its prob hard to make long videos. But I like to put it on and listen and fall asleep at night. But I also rewatch the videos during the day lol
I love how Lance's Gyarados felt sorry for your lil mouse baby
You loved using rollout so much you completely forgot to use an electric move on the Vaporeon 😀 great video though, so much fun to watch!
I love this content so much it's unreal
